Yes, about Spirit Link. I have seen some people who run Lifelink.
I can understand that the cards are similar, but, there seems to be a lot of people who don't know that you can use Spirit Link on your opponents creature in a pinch, and that it stacks with Daybreak Coronet. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
It surprised me when I saw a top-8 deck with Lifelink, seemed like such a glaring mistake. It must be a pretty big deal.
Also, is running Young Wolf worth it against "edict" effects?
How viable can this deck be without coronets? Would a budget version be useful in any way? Or does that cut at the core too much?
I don't think so. You will need a 2 drop aura that does a lot but there seems to be none like Daybreak. A budget version can work but will not be competitive. It will be much slower and since you lose your best aura, you will probably replace it with bigger creatures like Mirran Crusader, Troll Ascetic, etc. Basically you are going to lose that early game consistently and win lose to any deck that can make a better board than you on turn 3-4 which will be almost every competitive deck.
picked up my playset of daybreak coronet's today for $5ea so i think i will be putting this deck together. seems fun enough to me!
as far as people saying it is pretty fragile to sacrifice effects like liliana, what about putting Tajuru Preserver in the board..maybe even a few aspect of mongoose to make removal completely dead.
thoughts?

Just jam 4 Leyline of Sanctity in the board. The sacrifice effects right now all target a player. It also stops turn 1 discard (which you lose to) and burn (which isn't a bad matchup anyway).
Only card I'm not a huge fan of is Ray of Revelation, and it might be coming out come the PTQ this Saturday for better Tron hate if I don't see a lot of this deck sleeved up that day. Not sure what that card might be though.
Remember, the more enchantment based answers you play, the better, because that makes Ethereal Armor hit for that much more. Every little bit counts when you're trying to kill someone before they stabilize.
Lets hope this deck does decent in the upcoming PTQ. I don't want it to be another FOTM like Martyr Proc was. Since I played a horrible version of it as my first deck for modern. I am very glad it is doing well. I don't want it to explode though. I want it to say within competitive radar but not on everyone's sideboard list.
what is available to this deck for magus of the moon and blood moon? both of those seem like complete blow-outs considering there is only 1 basic land in the deck. are some people running a few forests and a few plains to get around those hate cards or are most other metas not effected by non-basic hate?
No, Blood Moon is excellent right now. The funny thing is that a lot of decks can't do too much to play around it either!
If I was running this deck, I'd try out a couple of Ray of Revelations. They would answer Blood Moon (but only if you had 1W untapped) and be sweet in the mirror. They would even have some game against Twin.
Again, I'm also a big fan of a splash for either Spell Pierce or your own Thoughtseizes once more people start packing hate. This deck is really powerful...

You can't always win, and just because you lose doesn't mean you played badly.
Even if you lose, it is important to remain confident in your ability to make good plays and decisions. Lose that and you are truly lost.
Testing is great, and the better the testing is, the better off you'll be.
It is impossible to tilt and play well.
It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose.
i agree with its power level and i would say that it is more explosive than powerful. it reminds me of the infect deck to a point that it wants to get 1 or 2 dudes out and then turn them sideways while pumping.
to that point, why not just run the couple of infect guys in this deck to pump? i might just be thinking too hard and not looking enough at the hexproof-iness of the current 1 cmc guys..
i'm very excited for this deck, too bad our local area is not embracing modern like other places
Tell me about it: I had to drive five hours (one way) to play a sanctioned Modern tournament. My local store does sign ups for Modern along with Standard, and I'm the only name on that list :/
I don't think you want Infect guys here. The real draw to this deck is with the cheap Hexproof guys, because they're harder to kill than the Infect creatures. Heck, I bet some of the Infect players are going to run this instead, because I'm sure they are tired of being hated out of the format by... Lightning Bolt.
You could look at cutting a few of the weak Umbras and adding some pump if the deck needs to be faster. Assault Strobe + Might of Old Krosa is pretty big game on a guy that the opponent can't kill!

so you see no reason to put in a basic plains to combat against blood moon then? i played my jund deck at the last 2 modern tourneys and got completely boned by turn 3 blood moon in most of my post-board matches...it was absolute crap. i even fetched for a few basics one game but still get hosed since it only runs 3 basics.
there are also enough path to exile in the format that running a few extra seems like it might not be a bad idea. maybe only 1 plains and 2-3 forest? i understand the need for a turn 1 green source and everything in most of the lists that are on here have the entire mana base as green or combo.
here is the current build that i have (no idea on sideboard yet):
the only cards i have thought of for SB is the fourth PtE and maybe Tajuru Preserver but Names had a good point of running the leyline instead.

I don't think 4x Keen sense is that good especially when you don't run spirit mantle. Spirit Link seems more like a sideboard card imo. I would run some spider umbra over it.
Has anyone else tested Tallowisp? You need to play other spirit/arcane cards with it, but turning them into aura tutors is nice. If you have 3 mana, you can immediately use it's ability with Spiritual Visit to get you the specific aura you need at instant speed. It seems better than Kor Spiritdancer against removal. I find that Spiritual Visit is the best card to pair with it because it's an instant. The creature you get is also relevant against edict effects.
I wouldn't want to run Silhana Ledgewalker or even Invisible Stalker when you have a card like Spirit Link that makes your 1 drop unblockable. They seem like very redundant creatures. I'm thinking of something like this:
i just want to point out that this is the "daily deck list" on dailymtg.com and if it didnt already have enough people looking at it, it sure will now!
@BbearZ: you are right, i should drop my keen sense to maybe 2, but it still seems pretty powerful with a T1 dude, T2 this and rancor, swing for 3 and probably draw a card..seems alright to me!
@blinkbat: i dont think that the tallowisp/spiritual visit combo would be very helpful to the deck seeing as it is a 2 card combo with only 8 components in the whole deck. i do like the gelid shackles though. saw that a few pages back but forgot about it when it came time to put together my list. definitely only need 1 or 2 but still seems like pretty solid removal for the early threats.
i also dont see how spirit link "makes your 1 drop unblockable" because it only makes you gain life. they can still block and kill your dude..

The tallowisp combo won't work with only 8 components as you've pointed out but a look through the list of arcane cards gives up some very interesting results. Specifically Reach through Mists and Pure Intentions
I don't think it's a fit for this deck because this deck seems to be all about goldfishing but it's another interesting way to build an aura toolbox. Combined with Idyllic Tutor you would be able to consistently put any aura you need into your hand and could therefore run all of your auras as one-ofs. You would need to have some ramp then and probably build toward a lock of some sort instead - more like Troll Worship in that case.
I built a bant variant of this deck over the weekend, and ended up going to a Modern event at my local LSG on Monday evening. I know the modern meta really well there and it's mostly filled with SpiritJund & Jund/Tron/Esper Control I honestly did not expect to do well at the event but ended the night 4-0 (first place)

do you find that daybreak coronet is not even needed in the deck? or is it only because you are running the bant version? i like rest in peace in the board but it does make rancor a little worse..

To be honest, Daybreak Coronet wasn't even on my list of cards in the first place when I thought of re-tuning it be more Bant like. Not to say it isn't a great card, I just had no real reason to include it in my build. I think more or less I was thrown off by it's double white casting cost and it has to go on an already enchanted creature. I can see though, that it might be a later addition if I feel the need, but for the most part I am impartial either way. I was pleased without it though.
Rest in Peace was very viable and I had the same concerns when shutting on Rancor, but to be fair in the match up's against esper control and u/w flash it really didn't even come into question when I slapped on stalker and just got value out of it.
Revising my original reply to this - I think that Tallowisp is definitely useable if you are willing to go all-in on the Spirit theme and trade green for blue. I spent a few hours today working on this and I like it a lot. It's similar to Ghost Dad if you're familiar with that but it takes advantage of the Innistrad spirits and Ethereal Armor to make a spirit tribal deck that also has a small toolbox of auras highlighted by Steel of the Godhead. I'm also running Godhead of Awe which is pretty cool in and of itself.

That's actually a pretty interesting take on it. Why do you have 2 Temporal Isolation, though? I think the second copy should just be a Hyena Umbra to protect your Geist from Supreme Verdict. The Godhead with Captain seems pretty awesome.

The problem with this is you slow the deck down a great bit. This deck gets there t3 while tallowisp makes you a t4-5. It changes a lot. You will need to run counter spells definitely because you slow yourself down a turn or 2. Ethereal armor is also much weaker since you go t w wisp, t 3 geist/spirit, t 4 auras with only 2 auras out most likely. It's very powerful and all but a turn slower worries me.0
im sorry. i shouldve just pmed the fella who posted the suggestion on tallowisp. i didnt want to derail the gw aura thread. they're completely different decks - ill leave it at that.
