So I have a buddy who just bought the War of Attrition event deck from our shop and is persistent in telling me that even though Stoneforge Mystic is banned, as long as you play the deck together and un-modded it is still legal to play in a sanctioned modern tournament. I really disagree with him, but I promised I'd find him a reference. Alas, I can't find it anywhere. I don't want our only shop in 100+ miles to get hit hard for something like this that the shop owner might now understand. Thank you in advance for any responses.
Everyone knows that good luck and good game are such insincere terms that any man who does not connect his right hook with the offender's jaw on the very utterance of such a phrase is no man I would consider as such.
it is still not legal even if he bought a intro pakc nad it had stoneforge mystic due in state he would have to replace the card with something else. It doesn't matter if its modd or not, a banned card is a banned card. so you are correct to disagree and i would call a judge over if he continues to do so
Unfortunately SfM is banned in modern so that's a no go. He was correct it could be used as a whole but that was when it was standard legal (they printed SFM in the duel deck then banned her so they left an exemption)
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
