In the final, it beat a deck with maindeck hate (soul warden) and sideboard hate in the form of gaddock teeg and ghostly prisons. But spellskite, firespout and echoing truth gave the tournament to the combo deck.
Actually, it was a bit easier. GW kept a onelander with a ton of hate and never drew the second one to cast it. End of story.
Also right now the final is CawBlade against Boros.
Be surprised if Boros doesn't win. Been playing that Caw deck a bit, doesn't feel especially good ve agro compared to the straight U/W. Constantly underwhelmed with Hawk and Spellsnare. Also no leyline, though he may have changed the deck. Finks is abut the best control creature ever though, can get u there.
Boros did indeed win. Much to the chagrin of the Caw-blade pilot in the chat room...
T8 two PTQs in two days and not win is pretty brutal.

Not sure what squadron hawk is much good against, blocking bob or memnite, liliana?? U have a low chance of drawing a sword, no Jace for the extra cards, just seems ridiculously low impact. Good fuel for the singleton morland I guess, but all those man land should do plenty of work. Congrats on two Top8 and bringing more attention to U/W however cheers!
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Perhaps a shake up to the established section is needed, as much as it pains me Rock, Teachings, and Zoo variants aren't really top end decks anymore. The PTQ results show the following archetypes to be the top tier.
Jund
Twin
Affinity
Faeries
Tron Variants
Red/X aggro
Gift's Decks
Jund is just a faster version of Rock. Gift's is just a better Teachings deck.

I think more data would be a good idea before making that leap.
As much as I agree Zoo has shown no evidence of placing just yet, I think this is down to a lack of agreement on how it should be built right now...perhaps this is the very definition of an unestablished deck, but I do think once it gets itself in gear then it can position against most metas, including this one.
Conversely, Faeries has only shown up in the hand of one pilot...he could be very talented! All the same though it's the type of deck that should prey on the current metagame so I can see it being a rising star once more people play it.
I think Storm should be tier 1.5 it's capable of winning in some meta's but losing out right now.

You pretty much nailed it. The red in jund does a lot of work with bolt bbe and blightning adding speed flexibility and power.
Gifts ungivin is simply a more powerful card than teachings, its a rare vs common. You can just put the game away off a sigle gifts getting you 2 cards VS teachings getting you 1 anser for the same mana. U/W Tron is just a gifts control varient, its been doing decent but not amazing.
Twin maybe be beter than storm as it has a lot of redundancy and plenty of slots to protect itself even though its easier to interact with the combo it has a lot of ability to fight hate.
UB and RUG Delver decks are seeing succes in dailies, its a sound strategy. They are basically just fish decks and can be grouped with Merfolk and Fae.
People are mostly ready for zoo. It maybe fast but its one of the more fair decks, affinity probably steals more games. Zoo, Boros and Burn are all Red agro decks.
U/W control keeps getting ignored and keeps performing. Its popularity may rise after several ptq top 8s. Cawblade works in all formats. perhaps it can be grouped with Fae.
Martyr proc seems to keep getting there, perhaps it can be grouped with UW as Wx control.
There a tons of creature combo decks, Pod, Emrakul tokens, trap. Not sure how much they can be clumped together.
Established archetypes could be:
Affinity
Jund
Twin
Gifts
Wx Control
Ux Tempo
Rx Agro
Pod
Tokens
Boros did indeed win. Much to the chagrin of the Caw-blade pilot in the chat room...
Don't under-estimate the Hawks though...one of the cuter interactions of Clique has always been to get a card draw for yourself off a card you don't want...
The deck could actually be something very good though, albeit one which may suffer a bit from being a known entity...I certainly feel happy enough about how I'd approach it from being able to see a decklist for instance.
I just played a game with a similar UW Moorland Hawks deck.
I got ahead quick, then once my opponent got his thing down I just started leaving a Hawk to block. Once it chumped, I turned it into a Spirit, and just kept attacking and attacking and attacking. My opponent had no chance to get anything through while I happily churned away, never loosing any momentum from needing to block. It was brutal.
But it needs some TLC. It's good but it could be a lot better.
Based on the results from only MTG Premier Events and PTQ's (including the two posted in this thread) the meta looks like:
Kiki-Twin
Affinity
Jund
UW Control
UBx Delver
Melira Pod
Martyr Proc
Geist Bant
Fae
W/x Tokens
R/x Deck Wins
Merfolk
RUG
Death Cloud
Hopefully Wizards will be posting PTQ results as they come in on Thursday.

So, is Storm not a thing anymore? I swear I'd seen plenty of lists on MTGO results recently. It's still a deck that can win on turn 2 (or at least dump out lethal goblins on turn 2).

I have played storm A LOT on mtgo and i haven't won turn 2 ever. I win turn 3 about 25% of the times that I win, or at least I could. Mostly I have to play around counter magic or play through canonists or other bullcrap. It's a cheap deck, and it's a deck you'd figure people would build it if they wanted a budget build. Apparently no one at PTQs wants to play budget.

Had semenulative upkeep before it was fashionable. Look what you forced me to do, Wizards! IT DIDN'T HAVE TO GO DOWN LIKE THIS!

Like I said, I can only go by my own experience, which is now 18 years. Kind of disheartening when you think you know something and you find out that you're a notch below a low grade moron.
it has also been public enemy #1 for a couple weeks. For a while literally 3 of 4 decks I played in tourney practice were storm. I was so board of the mu I had t write "No Storm" in my games. Its a deck that people hate and bring just that.
Those were only results from Premier T8 and PTQ T8 (that I have results for).
It doesn't surprise me that it still shows up in daily events and can possibly 4-0 due to meta saturation.
This is the first big test we've had to see if the decks from Daily Events are a lot different than those being brought to PTQ.

Perhaps a proven section for the top 3 or 4? Move the third row stuff to developing arena and move the middle to established.

My LGS is Asgard Games in Houston, TX.
1) It's really good vs. affinity. It trades with most of their guys, and is a pretty good blocker to a Cranial Plating
2) It's the stone cold nuts against Jund. It's great against blightning and liliana.
3) It's a cheap and efficient way to apply pressure, especially with a sword. It's like a really bad Bitterblossom
Twin, Twin, Twin, Affinity, Affinity, Affinity, U/W Control, Jund
Lot of Variety in that list.

They also die quick to an EE or wrath. I'm still not convinced the deck's real. I think we'll see less tokens as the format develops
