Its a 3 card combo- powerplant, mine, tower assembling 3 cards for mana is not ramp. If they were trying to get plenty of lands to get to 6+ lands by t3 I think everyone would agree its ramp but looking for 3 specific cards is combo.
It's as much of a combo deck as twin was tbh. It controls the board with boardwipes until it can ramp out powerful threats. Again it's a control deck because it wins by GRINDING out the opponent. The tron lands don't make the deck "auto win."

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
Some of us can't watch the pro tour because we're at work and we're trying to follow along via this thread. Is it possible to just keep this thread on the topic of the pro tour and not about stupid meta classifications and ban talk? Those topics both each have their own thread.

Semi-retired Lantern Player. I try to get out to play every once in awhile!
So turn one Chalice for to shut down the 1 drops from a Burn Player is brutal
Eldrazi looks fun

Yea, those are MTG Bars. What can I say, I am a dork
I hope to see some Lantern there! Not sure what deck Elsik is on, but I'm sure it's going to be a treat.
Couldn't make it to this one, sorry to disappoint.
Eldrazi is on camera, much different from the american big mana ones weve seen. But the chalice tech is super gross... perhaps what the deck needs to push it past aggro into grossly too good territory.

People can always watch replay from the internet. This is not a big problem missing any game play.

so much salt... can we get a little cinnamon for a change pls?
ok we got the general idea: wizards sucks, modern sucks, podcast sucks, the participants sucks, blue sucks, laguage barrier sucks too
anyone has anything positive to say? i'd really like to read it now, thanks
Bill: you're the one that championed URx was still viable.
I guess you are feeling pretty silly now uh? They didn't even bother mentioning it all.
/facepalm?
have you seen many players playing reactive decks in an unknown meta?
URx IS viable, but first you need to know what the other guys play?
and viable and T1 are 2 different things
as long as snap and bolt are legal URx will always be viable
And yet no one is playing it *bird chirps*.
Also: the meta is not unknown. Not to these pros. I'm pretty sure people that can rent a house for a weekend and play test... can figure out the meta.
apparently Alex Bianchi is on Jeskai... tell your bird to hush
And he just got beat by his opponent playing two thoughtseers (which that deck can not answer)
That wasn't the best example of URx "viability" lol
Nakamura (Burn) evens it out, 1-1 against Eldrazi Colorless.
Seems this new version of Eldrazi is just colorless midrange. It stumbled pretty hard after a Molten Rain from Burn. I dont like it, it doesnt have the same appeal it did when it was preying on the top decks.

EDIT: The fact that "Goryo's Blue" is listed as a combo deck worth showcasing does not suggest anything positive about the commentator's Modern knowledge (or agenda).

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Traditional Draw go Counter Control deck do well. Pro players love control and with the meta shake up it may be good enough. I think an off the radar deck wins or some new combo deck that has been secretly waiting it's turn.

Dude... I have NO CLUE why they refuse to use normal peoples super archetype lables...
Aggro
Control
Combo
Midrange
TEMPO
BIG MANA
Its not that hard people. Eldrazi, green devotion, Tron, Cloudpost, Nic-fit... Its all about going taller, and doing it by playing with big mana...
Because you could technically merge midrange and tempo within aggro-control (and then proceed to mangle explaining the subtleties between the two), and that saves you time on making infographics.
And then Big Mana is in a matter of speaking Midrange but on a greater scale and since Midrange is traditionally the opposite of whatever it goes up against that makes it a Midrange umbrella with a bunch of control MUs and well once again time saved on making infographics.
Less time on infographics, less scripts to read from, less embarrassing on-stream screwups... I mean, you really think WotC could actually explain anything adequately past the A-C-C triad?

Didn't nicely set down is creature on the table, just sorta lightly tossed it. Flicking it off into the graveyard.
I agree it wouldn't be fun to lose but at least put on a "pro" level body language.
The Eldrazi deck plays like the legacy stompy decks since eye of ugin and eldrazi temple act like Ancient tomb and City of traitors.
