Also, Snapcaster Mage cannot flashback Ancestral Vision for zero mana, so no Thought Scour/Liliana shenanigans (I assume some people considered already)
Everyone complaining about Jund getting the short end of the stick, but it is the deck best suited to weild Ancient Grudge against our returning overlord Affinity, not to mention all the people brewing with Sword of the Meek.
Happy about Eye.
Okay about Sword.
Sceptical about Visions.
I guess we'll see...
Honestly as a Jund player thopter/sword does not worry me. Between Abrupt Decay, Maelstrom Pulse, Kolaghan's Command, Scavenging Ooze, the maindeck is already good against it.
However, an unthoughtseizeable 1 mana " wait 4 turns, draw 3"? Now that has me a bit more nervous. How to adapt... hm....

banning just eye might be really bad.... i was honestly looking for them to ban both.. we'll see in the future but in the short term i think it's ok... we'll see the next time what happens when they print eldrazi...
AV i don't think is going to be much although the combo with goblin dark dwellers is pretty soulcrushing lategame.... the problem is getting to that point and probably why i don't think you'll see a lot of it...
unless SotM becomes a thing... this is by far the riskiest unban they've taken so far and really odd that they chose to unban two cards so soon after their initial annoucement... the meta was already unsettled after the twin/bloom ban and then eldrazi...
it's anyone's guess what things are going to look like... although i'm willing to bet something breaks...
Affinity is probably going to go back to being the unquestionable strongest deck in modern, so every matchup you're going to have to fight through artifact hate that was meant for affinity.
If only tezzeret could splash white/green to play cards like decay that deal with stony silence...

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
So dramatic. Tron will be fine. I'm not sure Eldrazi will take a big enough hit, though.
Oh please. Tron just puts 4 eldrazi temple and 4 thought-knot in it's deck now and becomes a little slower. If anything they should be happy that they can play a new style with temple.

Actually, Jund gained a lot in this annoucment: Eldrazi gone, Tron decks get a dent (they don't become unplayable), that will make them weaker (not weaker to Jund, mind you) and thus decrease its numbers.
. 'Fast, streamlined, explosive decks will remain excellent choices in the new format.'
'Then there were Abrupt Decay decks like Jund and Abzan. Those decks can be geared to beat a small handful of known opponents, but in a diverse field, they sometimes lack the raw power necessary to do well. The banning of Eye of Ugin is great news for these decks, but the unbanning of Sword of the Meek and Ancestral Vision is catastrophic. Jund is my favorite deck in modern, and it’s been good to me over the years, but I’m not willing to take it into a field of card-advantage based Snapcaster Mage decks. '
imo AV is an interesting risk, SotM i'd dare say even a mistake
Yeah, I was fine with one of those two getting unbanned but both at the same time makes me kind of cautious. I think unbanning Visions probably pushes BGx players into playing Sultai just so they don't get grinded out by Snapcaster/AV decks. It doesn't really look that great for Jund/Abzan though.
1. Eye being banned gives me a smile, as all the 'very skilled' defenders on MTGO told me there was no way it would be banned as 'It would hurt Tron.'
Goodbye.
2. AV and Sword? Shame about the spike, I'll have to wait to get them in paper once the vulture vendors repost them at inflated prices, but online I'm already working on a terrible Esper brew.
Jund will definitely drop to tier 2, I wonder if Junk can manage, since it's better in a slower meta
I'm happy for blue players, but I'm definitely concerned for GBx. It scares me that BBE was mentioned in the thought process for AV staying banned for so long.
Maybe Sultai will have to become a thing, I don't know. GBx absolutely cannot handle having a blue player draw 3 cards, I wonder if painful truths in the 75 can mitigate this. Guess we'll have a better idea in a month and a half or so
Eye of Ugin ban alone helps control out a lot, since now some big decks like Eldrazi and Tron don't have an easy way to win the long game if a control player drags the game out long.

I don't think its unreasonable for a Sultai take on BGx to run Visions itself.

They probably figured BBE is good enough to emulate Shardless Agent, the namesake hyper-value Gray Ogre of Shardless BUG.
Shardless BUG, as far as I know, is probably the absolute best Ancestral Vision deck in existence.
So, Jund got one thing: Jund will likely annihilate Sword decks with 7/8 tarmogoyfs and scavenging oozes and abrupt decays. So if sword makes tier 1/2 Jund gets an easy win
Also, Snapcaster Mage cannot flashback Ancestral Vision for zero mana, so no Thought Scour/Liliana shenanigans (I assume some people considered already)
Suspend Mindstab.
While I don't doubt it's too narrow, I could see Mindstab being used to counter it.
Would be TERRIBLE to flip with Bob so I don't think it's going to take off, but it's an option.

I was specifically referencing Snapcaster and AV. 5cmc Divination with a 4/4 body is hardly format breaking
Dweller is nice and flexible, lots of utility, grixis control etc etc, but c'mon guys, be reasonable
If only tezzeret could splash white/green to play cards like decay that deal with stony silence...
Decks I'm playing in Modern right now:
URB Grixis Reveler (http://www.mtgvault.com/supast4r7/decks/modern-grixis-reveler/)
UB Faeries (http://www.mtgvault.com/supast4r7/decks/ub-fae-2/)
UW Azorious Control (http://www.mtgvault.com/supast4r7/decks/modern-ojutai-control-2/)
5cmc 4/4 Concentrate, you mean.
I mean, at that point the only negative you have versus ever-beloved Mulldrifter is that GDD/AV is a 2 card combo.

Also, Ancestral Vision's price just went through the roof! I have three, but...maybe I'll just make do with three.

I think the changes are pretty fair though
I'm aware of that. I didn't say blue decks would be snapping back AV, but those decks would be playing both cards at the same time.

Yes, suspend is not 'casting' it's an activated ability that places it in exile so it doesn't work.
