I must say modern isn’t that fun at all currently. Modo leagues are all storm and humans (new hot idea). Might as well just go back to Cheerios and try to t2 people again. All you have to do is dodge chalice on 0 and the tiny bit of removal and you’re golden. Modern imo is all about how fast you can kill right now.
We've heard these kinds of anecdotal opinions basically every month (every day, in all likelihood) since Twin got banned. Given that we have even less evidence of the actual MTGO metagame now than we did at any previous time, I'd say this assessment is even less accurate than it normally is. Cincinnati, an actual data point from a recent event, saw UW Control and Jeskai Control both barely miss T8 on breakers. D&T and Humans are also significantly more interactive than most Modern critics are willing to admit.
More importantly, we notice that BOTH E-Tron and GDS have both taken sizable dips since their earlier heights. This suggests the current metagame, which is definitely more aggressive than it was during E-Tron/GDS zeniths, is a reaction to other decks. GDS was big for a while, and then E-Tron came to beat it. Now we have more aggressive decks beating E-Tron. We'll see decks tailored to beat those aggressive decks, and the meta should keep shifting. At least, that's the hope, which so far has been carried through during this last year.
The only real worry I have is the PT, where players with significant time, expertise, and incentive will try to actually break the format to win big. This is where I think we'll see the "true" best decks in Modern emerge, which I suspect are GDS, E-Tron, and Storm. But if I'm wrong, which would be great, then we'll see an even more diverse field than we are seeing now.
Question for you,
have you been playing mtgo recently? Is Humans seeing a huge uptick in leagues?
I do believe that the meta has shifted and gotten aggressive, possibly too aggressively and fast for E-Tron---how will the pros get around all that and play E-Tron successfully at the pro-tour? colorless options don't leave a whole lot of sideboard choices.

Well watching Todd and Caleb’s streams as well as talking to the 3-4 local mtgo grinders that’s what most of them are seeing. I didn’t say anything about bans or unbans just that it’s boring.

If we are trying to rely on data, 5-6 people is not a very good sampling.
I have 0 interest in debating around any of the laughable Twin nonsense I've heard a million times already. I just wanted to laugh at that notion that Twin's Twinless plan was so good. I have done that already, I'm fine now, thanks. You can safely move on.
Besides my disagreement on the twinless plan, this post is borderline flame/troll. Saying that you come here to laugh at other people's opinions and get out is quite offensive and impolite.
On an academic level, you're completely right, a few people don't validate the meta.
You do have to go with a gut check, too. My gut says there's going to be an aggressive shift like humans and other players trying to next level that prediction.
Mtgo has been a fantastic predictor for me, it's always ahead of schedule at what's in paper, but it catches up in paper too.
This is partially why I'm scared to bring e tron at a 1k tomorrow. I have more experience with eldrazi tron than jeskai though

If there's a lot of go-wide aggro, doesn't that bode well for the midrange, interactive strategies people have been clamoring for?

Do you realize how genuinely unkind and mean you sound in so many of your posts?
Twin won plenty without the combo. I once took 6 to 8 damage from an exarch at a 1k, terrified to die from the combo. Bolt snap bolt is also 8 damage alone, along with pain from fetching.
The deck won plenty with beat down
But the point of the comment is that this backup plan (hit in with a 1/4 and eventually finish with Snapcaster Mage) is a terrible plan if you don't have the fear of the combo. It's slow and clunky and relies on your opponent holding back their plays. When the best plan in Modern is to vomit your hand as soon as possible and mostly ignore, play through, or play past the opponent, this plan is awful.

Not really, because these decks also play a lot of disruptive creatures. They are go-wide aggro, but they kind of play like disruptive tempo decks too.

I play on MTGO every day, anywhere from 2-5 games, and I've not seen Humans in a while. I see a lot of Storm, TitanShift, Grixis and GBx Shadow variants, and Burn. I was seeing a ton of UW control for a while, but that trend seems to have calmed down. I'm seeing Affinity and ET less as well. Of course there is huge diversity and we all see a small sample size, so it's really hard to say.
Thread locked. There is a new thread is found here with a rules update. After much deliberation, we have reinstated the "Twin Talk Ban" until the post-Pro Tour B&R announcement. As it was stated that there are no plans for a metagame shakeup with bans or unbans before the Modern Pro Tour, we feel that it will be best for the thread to once again restrict talk about Splinter Twin. The thread was not as toxic once we lifted the restriction after our initial three month period, but it wasn't great either. Once the topic becomes relevant again we will reevaluate the situation and announce an update on the rules of the thread.
Please see the new thread and remember to re-read the rules before posting. If you have any questions please PM the mods (CavalryWolfPack, Ulka, Xaricore, and myself) with your questions/comments/concerns.
Lastly as a shameless plug, if you feel you can help better the forums then why not apply to be one of the new mods of Modern? There are a few days left so click here for how to apply!
