Yeah, that is certainly true. It sure felt like it killed it for me. I literally didn't touch the deck for at least 6-9 months if not more.
Amulet definitely would have been the ban to KILL the deck - I agree. Prime Time being banned would not have been the right ban, but then I'm also a bit biased here (that card being the card that pulled me away from Blue when M11 came out).
I guess this is where my bias comes out. When Golgari Grave-Troll was banned, I did not care. That deck made the format screwed up, along with it's buddy, Infect. I played the deck non stop because it was the top deck in my opinion and less vulnerable than Infect, but I was pretty glad that it went. I didn't touch the deck since. But I feel differently about Summer Bloom. There is something dear to my heart with that deck. I wish I played it even more than I did.

I'm not for any deck's being outright killed. At this point I'm even playing Knightfall again, simply because I like 2 card combo's, and Wizards likes to print stupid overpowered creatures so really, the deck will forever improve.
EDIT: And its got Blue, so I can atleast pretend I'm interacting with Spell Queller, and Unified Will in the side. Collected Company remains a busted magic card.

Knightfall was one of the most fun decks I've played, but my numbers just did not justify it.
Have you tried UW Control recently? I am pretty impressed by the numbers and my own mini play testing so far. This may be the deck that gets me to play Control regularly again. That is saying something. I see most of it's "poor" matchups being around 45% at worst, outside of some fringe decks. Then it has many good matchups, although few overwhelmingly good ones.

Yeah, I moved to it for a week from UWR, but the lack of Snap/Bolt just didnt do it for me. I also hate Field of Ruin and what it does to my play patterns and mana base.
Its super powerful though when it does its thing. I'd rather be on UR with Clique and Moon, Pyro/Thing, and just beat up on UW though.
I honestly think that Amulet Bloom would have survived as a ramp deck if Amulet was banned rather than Bloom. The deck can function pretty well without the Amulets as a ramp deck and still does very well against midrange, and you still get Squadron Titans. I just think it might have leaned more into the Hive Mind package since you could turn 3 that even without Amulet.

Which is maybe for the best that it didnt. That card was such a BS way to get killed lol.
Thanks for the sharing the list. Oh, and Amulet is still alive.
When Summer Bloom was legal, this is one of the decks I fear to face in FNM because of the power it emanates. Proof of strength is.. even with summer bloom banned, their deck is still competitive. I wonder if they still use the Hive Mind combo?
Occasionally. It's not as good when you can't turn 2 or 3 with a reasonable level of consistency any more, but I could see it becoming more prevalent in a UW meta.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
I haven't seen a Hivemind list in a long time. The deck with Summer Bloom and the deck without are very different decks when it comes to deck building constraints. Summer Bloom makes it so the deck has many more flex slots, which also effects sideboard. It basically went from arguably the best deck in the format to an unknown deck. Only recently it has put up numbers, and unless I'm mistaken, we haven't seen it outside of 2018 since its bannings. So I'd say it was a pretty big blow to the deck
The deck is much more of a toolbox style deck then a combo deck. Once Summer Bloom was banned, I think people just didnt want to worry about it, until the new technology of Sakura-Tribe Scout, the 4x Azuza and of and Explore. This current list runs Sakura-Tribe Elder which is good because its stronger against Field of Ruin and doesn't rely too much on the Karoo lands, but it stills seems strange and I'm guessing it could be a decklist report mistake.
Another reason I think the deck has been that popular because I think Blood Moon has been more popular in the past. It seems like recently Blood Moon is really not popular at all currently. Going forward, though, I can see Assassin's Trophy really being tough for the deck. Discard has always been a problem for the deck, and BGx having a tool to blow up a Karoo land would hurt a lot. However it just depends on how prevalent BGx becomes and how much Assassin's trophy really propels them
Pistallion got it in better words than I could have said. They don't play Hive Mind anymore. (well a guy at my LGS plays 2, but that's how he wants to play it) Hive Mind was my favorite way to win with the deck and I hated cutting it. It was one of the main reasons that I didn't want to try Amulet after the banning. I saw lists cutting it and I realized that they played the deck longer than me, so they're probably right. And they were...

The Hive Mind kill was the best, but usually it was cut in post board games, if I remember correctly. The Hive Mind kill imo was kind of just icing on the cake of a well constructed combo/ramp/toolbox deck.
I will always say that Summer Bloom is the biggest joke card on the ban list if you look at them in a vacuum and from a power level standpoint. Obviously modern isnt a vacuum
I once landed a turn 2 Hive Mind against a Jund player and hit zero action for the rest of the game; opponent just kept jamming creatures and Lilianas.
Eventually he killed me by hitting me down to 2 and casting Thoughtseize, which, since I got the copy first, killed me.
I miss those games.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
I dont think going for the hivemind kill was a legit choice against green decks unless you have pact of negation too. Usually you sided the combo out as well in a lot of matchups too. The deck can play the long game with Squadron Titans and silver bullet creatures. The problem with Summer Bloom was the Hive Mind kill and how it violated the turn 4 rule. That would have been interesting if they banned Hive Mind instead. tbh I was kind of surpirsed they banned Summer Bloom at that time
Summer Bloom added a lot of consistency to the deck. Perhaps they thought the deck would still be broken if they removed Hive Mind instead of bloom. Well, on the positive side, the deck at least survived the ban unlike Twin which died right then and there.
Blue Moon still exists as an archtype though. I think the major part about Twin was the eot exarch thing, which blue moon doesnt really need/have now since its kind of a bad strategy unless you are just going to untap and win the game on the spot

Please dont imply Blue Moon is to Twin, what any other Post-Ban deck is to its Pre-Ban deck. Its better for the thread if we do not do this.
not a very apt comparison. for one the amulet deck isnt an archetype. its one deck that retooled after the banning. blue moon (control) existed in its own right while twin was around (mainly the shackles version), and is now just a generic label for any UR deck that shares a commonly played subset of cards (snap/bolt/remand/cryptic/blood moon). UR kiki and breach moon just happen to sit under that umbrella.
i only point this out because its disingenuous to have those decks share the success of UR thing and UR pyro variants.

My post was a response to the statement that "amulet survived a ban but twin didnt." Its because the deck was not built around Summer Bloom. I dont see how UR Breach is much different than a Twin deck besides just being a worse version
