Back on the PW topic, we all know several walkers see modern play to varying extents, but has anyone come across a super friends type fringe deck in existence? I've seen walkers used as finishers like in RW prison and UB control and of course Karn, but not what I would call a full out planeswalker deck. If anyone has seen something please post a link to it. If there is a fringe teir 3 walker deck out there this could be a big shot in the arm for it kinda like what spirits got a while back.
Seems to me that pws aren't nearly impactful and fast enough to make a deck of in modern
Ya, i know PW's are slow and there is no serious PW deck but if we get the right new catd it may become a deck at least for a little while. Cheerios, dredge, spirits, and KCI were all very fringe decks until a new card(s) was printed and the deck took off. I know these are not perfect examples, but I think it is worth keeping in mind.
This deck is just a few weeks old, from Feb. 15. Whether it "counts" as a "planeswalker deck" is for you to decide, but if War gives us more playable walkers, I wouldn't be surprised if some other Modern decks, especially control-aligned ones, ended up leaning this way as well.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
I just feel a Walker deck right now looks a more versatile Dragon Deck where your options are limited in the first couple turns. And there is the matter of which colors are optimal. I mean Atraxa is great in Commander but 4 Colors in Modern...nah 3 is far as it goes.
I do admit the Moon Walkers deck put up some really good results in tournaments now days. Not many expect it in tournament setting and it creates too many threats to where an opponent knows where to direct their energy towards where Planeswalkers gum up the board and takes the focus on the one piloting the deck. Killing the mana base with Blood Moon is extremely good right now where getting it online turn 1-2 generally destroys a lot of decks where they need to focus on solving that issue but then the Planeswalkers are getting to the point where it is already too late to recover.
