I'll just say this Torpf. I've been personally attacked (as far as being attacked online on a forum goes lol) far more than most, and I've been the one eating the 'warnings'. Hell, one of the admin's on this site even has me blocked on Twitter and I've never spoken to them in my life.
The double standard's and bias is out of control around here, and thats why I've had to just put several people on ignore because they get away with it, and I never do.
Calling me out specifically like Earthbound does, when I dont think I've ever even conversed with him/her, and you just let people like gkourou snipe from the sideline over and over and people like Colt spout absolute NONSENSE for years with no repercussions?
1) Keep the discussions on the cards and the format, and DO NOT direct your criticisms at the users or WOTC. There are rules against Trolling, Flaming, and blatant format bashing. If you have problems with a users post(s), then report it rather than trying to address it yourself. No matter how good your intentions, you aren't making the situation any better.
2) The forum isn't shutting down, it was purchased by Magic Find and is operating as normal until they decide to do something with it as per the most recent announcement. Stay on topic, as it's just spam otherwise.
The below paragraph full of personal attacks and should be totally unacceptable. I have been personally banned for significantly less than what has been expressed here. It is disheartening and disturbing to see such praise from multiple users for a slew of personal attacks like this. I hope conduct like this will not be tolerated on MTGNexus, as it appears to continue to be OK here.
However, the people on these forums, idSurge and cfusionpm and the other handful of the rest of them that drive their agenda down peoples throats and parrot the same tired lines with their free time for the better part of the past ten years saying that Modern is awful and stifling meaningful discussion; You guys won't be missed. You've wasted all of your time, and by extensions a lot of our time with your regurgitated, entitled, petulant crap. The amount of pure garbage that the group of you used to domineer conversations that could have otherwise been productive is staggering, to say the least. Whatever platform you find yourselves on after this ship sinks, know that the lot of you are at least in part responsible for driving participation down and costing the website views purely to satiate your internet egos.
I would not worry about it further. What contributions have those folks ever made? What deep discussion points? What numbers and data? Other than ktk, and a few people who posted (anecdotal) information from MTGO, and myself doing actual comparisons of Top 8 data throughout the life of the format, this thread has ALWAYS been long on opinion, short on fact.
The sites always been biased and allowed them free reign, it certainly wont change now.
It's just very telling by the lack of even a warning, much less an infraction for flaming or trolling on Earthbound's post, which has been up 13 hours and a moderator has already come in to scold us, of all people. So that means they easily could have taken action and didn't. Meanwhile that post is comfortably upvoted 6 times. I guess I just want to expect more moderation consistency than WOTC shows for their banned list. Maybe it's just best this place does die and we start over elsewhere.

Earthbound, great post. This is a problem though. Those people degrade the quality of the forums. And they are so vocal that nobody else can speak about nothing. It's all them and "Modern is bad". That's why they will keep getting banned over and over again.
THIS 100X!!! If you don't agree with this then there is no amount of logic that will ever convince you that good, non-oppressive, combos should be allowed. If you don't agree with it then just don't play this game, and you certainly shouldn't feel entitled to make any comment on ban lists ever.
Red Bull tournament in Brussels was indeed good with pretty nice metagamne but I will contribute most of this to Hogaak. Hogaak keeps tron and some other decks in check allowing more fair decks to compete. If Hogaak is banned Tron will come back and uw control will be the only viable fair deck again as it used to be pre-Hogaak. This is far from great and balanced format unless you enjoy uw being the only decent fair deck while others (mostly midrange) are basically dead.
Just a few words by me. I don't post here for several years now because you can't discuss anything productive but I just wanted to say this (although it might be better if I didn't as this).

To be fair, I think Jund has the best Tron MU it has ever had, if you build a little for it. You have Assassin's Tropy, Unearth + Fulminator Mage, Wrenn and Six + GQ, Collector Ouphe, plus of course Surgical to go with the LD. Jund's never had it as good against Tron.

That is an interesting perspective, i did'nt think of it that way
Modern seems like it's in a healthy spot outside of that Hogaak deck(even this might be fine).
I saw both Red Bull tournaments and there was so much fun, interactive magic, with lot's of back and forths and decisions in it, where the most skilled players eventually won(especially in Italy, Javier Dominguez proved again why we should consider him one of the best MTG players in the world).
I would take a "No Changes" today, it's just that I think Modern is soooo fun and interactive outside of Hogaak, that this would make Modern great again!
Do you have a link for coverage? I would love to watch it. Thanks in advance.

I already said so, but imho Twin wouldn’t even be a Tier in the current Modern. Force of Negation, Fatal Push, the general power level going up.
Yes. I saw it, hugely agree. Also, a thing that people do not mention that much. I did some testing vs UW Control. I played UR Twin and tried to tune it to today's meta, as much as I could. Still, the deck would evolve and one can not come that much close to how would today's Twin be. But I tried, as a past Twin player. Opts, JTMS, V cliques, 1 pierce, 1 snare, abrade side, magmatic sinkhole for sure. Anyways; here is what I found out.
Still, it's not easy for him to tap out for big bombs like Teferi, Jace, Narset, etc, which would make Twin a popular force and you to change your playstyle to win it. Then again, if he has FoN, he can tap out, then FoN the Twin, and then gain the card advantage back with those walkers, which still makes it a good matchup for UW.
All that said, yes, Twin would be absolutely beatable and not a tier 1 deck, I believe, but close. For sure, a safe unbanning, for the first time since it's banning, I believe.
While I have major doubts that Twin would be a problem if unbanned, I'm not sure its matchup versus UW Control is a good test. Didn't that already have a positive matchup before the ban?
actually was here to check if there is already a new announcement, than saw this post about twin
you know the argument that there is a force of negation now, doesnt work, cause force of negation can also be played in twin. twin could also go jeskai and play teferi for protection, which would make the deck far stronger than it was pre ban (at least it is what i feel as a former BGx player, that never had trouble with twin, but a teferi would sure cause trouble for me)
Force of Negation stops the combo for 0 mana. You can’t force the opponent’s force. I don’t get the reasoning here. Twin doesn’t want to play too many reactive cards, and there’s a reason if it was used to pack Dispel maindeck to stop the opponent’s interaction with the combo.
If you play Jeskai, there’s already Saheeli that works very similarly. And Jeskai Saheeli is Tier 3 (albeit a good deck, if you ask me). By the way, imho Jeskai Twin was the best variant of it (not the one with Walls and KiKi, just Path, a pair of Angels and Colonnades).
Tapping out for Teferi, Time Raveler wouldn't actually be that risky. I mean what are the gonna do about him? They are pretty much forced to counter him because otherwise their entire deck falls apart. Neither the Tempo nor the Combo plan is working as long as he is on the battlefield.
Windmill slamming him on Turn 3 leaves basically only three options:
1) They counter him and then follow up with something
2) They let him resolve and spent their next turn(s) somehow getting him of the battlefield. That guy has 5 Loyalty so they lost Tempo and resources while doing that.
3) They do neither of those things and pretty much lose the game
If I am on the play and I have a hand with Teferi and something like a Detention Sphere I would slam him on Turn 3 100% of the time. I would do the same if Im on the draw and and I have Teferi and Force of Negation. The upside of this is sky high while risk isn't.
I’ll say this again. If you plan to play a more tap-out Jeskai version (with multiple Teferi), Jeskai Saheeli already exists, and it’s probably a better shell than Twin itself. Has Saheeli been any good in Modern until now? Not particularly.
Im talking about the UW Control side here and it a was response to the statement of gkourou that it would be risky to tap out for walkers. In little Teferis case I disagree with that.

I guess he was referring to play Narset, Jace or big Teferi.

If UW is on the draw, the Twin player could play Exarch/Pestermite in response, forcing the UW player to bounce it or die to the combo

Finals was u/w control vs Jund
Good show for the meta adapting!
Together with the results last week, i guess the meta is still in flux tho... hojaak does look fast so i would'nt say its out of the woods yet
