So I'm making a budget bant deck and I'm wondering if magic had some good replacements to fill in the void of vendilian clique and tramogoyf... What I have down so far I found experiment one n I have 2x scavenging oozes. But I'm wondering what else could I can put in it. I need help from top players on the magic circuit. It's nothing against reg players but I do want some inside from players who's played in pro tours or made at least top 8 in their locals some consecutive times. Here's a skeleton I have
3x experiment one
2x scavenging ooze
2x hire of the wilds
1x banishing priest
2x thoughtscour
1x stubborn denial
1x disdainful stroke
3x anticipate
2x rakshasa's disdain
4x advent of the wurm
1x supreme verdict
1x temple of plenty
2x glacial fortress
3x sunpetal grove
2x temple garden
I'm also thinking what would be the viability of eidolon of rhetoric, and sprit of the labyrinth
I know eidolon can lock people down in standard but could it also have some appeal in modern.
N what are some of the other threats in modern besides the good ol splinter twin, tron, junk, and goyf twin?
Perhaps posting this in the budget section would be more appropriate, since you are looking for budget replacements and all... You can find it here. If you click here you can read the Bant thread and get some ideas from there, and if you click here you can read the Bant Company thread for more ideas.
As for Eidolon and Spirit, they are probably better off in your sideboard to stop certain decks as they won't affect most decks played in your maindeck and you don't want any cards that 'do nothing' when playing in game 1.
Well I'm actually trying to create a budget deck. This way I dont break my wallet. But all of those were very good suggestions I actually forgot I can run some coco in this build. And I was wondering what do you think bout some of those cards I listed? Think they d have their chance?
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
Great suggestions but the problem i am having is hardly having any instants or sorceries, but maybe i don't need them.
You don't need to many of them - the current melira (sometimes anafenza) combo decks use collected company - it can find melira/anafenza and kitchen finks at the same time, sadly it can't find murderous redcap, but getting "infinite" life with the finks is enough against all fair decks (and some of the combo decks can also deal only so much damage with their combo). Chord of calling can also do a similar job to find you whatever creature you currently need.
Other instants/sorceries you should think about is some interaction - you usually need some removal to handle splinter twin decks (which can deal infinite damage with their combo) you need some instant speed removal. If you are in white Path to exile is a great card for the job.
Viscera Seer at 1
Cartel Aristocrat at 2
Varolz, the Scar-Striped at 3
Seer is the most powerful because the scry lets you set up a game winning play on the following turn. Cartel Aristocrat is the most resilient with a body that gives evasion to hold 1/1 counters and protect it from removal spells.
The type of deck you're making is usually removal light. Instead you want to use your creatures to interact. Shriekmaw (can't Company for it sadly) is a Doom Blade, Redcap is ridiculous, a Chord for Reclamation Sage beats a Splinter Twin. A Qasali Pridemage does too, while adding to your board through exalted. Abrupt Decay works well for smaller creatures (you already trump the larger ones) and Eternal Witness lets you reuse any removal. Throw in more Chords/Companies and you can find a lot of answers.
The style deck you're wanting to build, because of Collected Company pushes you to around 30 creatures, then another 23 or so lands. This means you don't really have slots for instant and sorcery removal because the few spell slots you do have need to go to those engine cards.
The idea you are thinking of already has a topic over in the Abzan Company thread. You can find the link by clicking here or going to the tier 2 section. I suggest going and reading the primer for the deck and then posting in that thread to get some help.
I made a experimental desk around persist/undying with Evolutionary Leap and it was pretty solid. If you are just going for value, and not combos, it's a solid card.

Some good cheap cards include Qasali Pridemage or Rhox War Monk or Loxodon Smiter or even Kitchen Finks. You can include Jötun Grunt or Knight of the Reliquary or to replace Tarmogoyf as the big beater. Bant Charm and Condemn are good removal cards to use.
As for Eidolon and Spirit, they are probably better off in your sideboard to stop certain decks as they won't affect most decks played in your maindeck and you don't want any cards that 'do nothing' when playing in game 1.
