How has the Haunted Dead been working, and have you tried Ghoulsteed? I was also going to suggest Vile Rebirth, Shamble Back, and Sarcomancy as ways to get zombies out. I was told by the level 3 judge at my LGS that Bloodghast recursion can not trigger Vengevine's ability, as it specifically says 'cast'. So even those cards I mentioned technically would not trigger it either, as it is an ability of the spell, not the casting of a creature.
