Alright guys I've been testing a lot of Modern and I really liked the thought of Strangleroot Geist in a stompy deck, I also really liked the thought of searing blaze in a stompy deck. Here's my list, it's been doing very well against Tron, Jund and Mono Red, the Delver Matchup thus far is literally 50/50. I haven't gotten enough testing in yet but here's the list, please critique and give suggestions.
First things first I know Mutagenic Growth has to standout most of all, and yes I run 4, I'm on the fence as to if it should be 3 or 4 though. Every deck is running Lightning Bolt currently and a lot are running Helix also, also lets face it it's unsuspected and unpredictable.
Boggart Ramgang, well this guy dies to 3 damage and it's had me wondering if Leatherback Behemoth, Ashenmoor Gouger, Troll Ascetic or even Kitchen Finks maindeck would be better, Ramgang is certainly the fast and fits the deck best, but I wonder of the resiliency.
I'm heavily considering 2x Lavamancer maindeck, I'm not sure of this or not, there's nothing really I want to talk out. I've considered cropping the Bloodbraids down to 3of because they're rather expensive for this deck, I've considered cropping down the Growth's to a 3of also because sometimes they can make your hand feel a little light, especially when you draw 2. I am not sure I want to run Lavamancer though, this deck curves to 4 perfectly and doesn't usually leave tons of spare Red up to Lavamancer win. What are some other stellar options?
Please any advice, suggestions or criticism is very much thanked.
The creatures base is Ok, seems good for a first game without SB, but after you will see all the creature hate on the format...hehe
The Spell base is not so good for me, Tarfire sucks, 4 Searing is too much and Mutagenic can be a better one. I would play 4 Bolts, 4 Rift Bolts, 3 Searing, 3 Colossal Might or Vines of Vastwood (The guy, "I kill him", you, "No, and take extra 4 please")
But I really dont like the Lands. I think you should play at least 2 Treetop Village, 4 Stomping Ground and Rootbound Crag, not Copperline. Also a Kessig or a Skarrg to pump the creatures.
I am also not a fan of mutagenic growth, or tarfire, and also think Searing Blaze should only be a 3 of. I would rather see Lava Spike or Incinerate over tarfire.
Vines of Vastwood are a better choice than Mutagenic Growth, but even that isn't exactly the best thing you could run. I would probably just run more removal/burn. Maybe splash white with a Sacred Foundry for Lightning Helix.
I would also up the land count to 23 if you want to reliably hit that 4th mana. I probably would not run more than 1x Kessig Wolf Run, or similar cards, as you are reliant on having colored mana only for a majority of your spells. Raging Ravine seems good as a 1 of.
Also, Blood Moon is terrible for you. It ruins your own deck since you will never seen green mana with one on the board.

I dont like tarmo here. You have no forced discard... and you dont have enough spell types to make him really effective.
There are several other choices which might be useful though.
Firstly Wooded Foothills is not legal, use Verdant Catacombs, Misty Rainforests, Arid Mesa, and Scalding Tarn. You could also consider 1-2 fire lit thicket if you find yourself needing RR and GG.
Have no problem with MD searing blaze, just have a burn to replace it in SB. I do not like tarfire.
Mana cost 5 or more: Deus of calamity great synergy with giant growth effects. vorapede khalni hydra 8/8 for just a few green is pretty good. regal force could be too expensive, but card draw is good.

I would take Tarfire out because it sucks, and take Searing Blaze out for 18 billion times you'll Bloodbraid into it when you don't want to.
Those slots should either be more burn (Rift Bolt, Lava Spike, really any 3 damage 1 mana spell will do) or more pump (Brute Force for surprise factor, Vines of Vastwood, Stonewood Invocation if you're feeling saucy).
Also, Lavamancer and Tarmo hate each other, reason enough to not run Lavamancer.
The wooded foothills were meant to be fire-lit thickets, it was a typo what's wrong with you fools?
Oh and Blaze as been superb, in a stompy deck running 22lands to support bloodbraid, it's certainly warranted, and Riftbolt is a count to 20 cards, this deck is more of a beats deck, Bolts and Spikes are bad in it.
Wooded Foothills is quite a typo for Fire-Lit Thicket...
You want 23-24 lands to support bloodbraid. 22 lands is the number to run if you don't plan to go past 3 lands.
Also, there are a number of better burn cards than Tarfire. Tarfire is absolutely the worst card choice you could make unless you are doing some sort of goblin theme where casting more goblin spells benefits you. Burst Lightning is pretty bad compared to other burn in the format, but still much better than Tarfire.
How about Vengevine? It seems pretty easy to recur it if it dies vs a control deck. Also have you considered Vines of Vastwood as both a pump spell and a protection spell? Or is it too green intensive?
I just put this deck together and it seems really fast....I focused on kill fast, but you can replace the Lava Spikes for Forked Bolts in order to clear the way for your creatures and deal damage to the opponent.
Also, Colossal Might is the most replaceable card on the deck. Can be more damage/burn, other pump or a creatures maybe.

Mana dork in this deck are waste of time, you will learn it fast enough cascading anything that don't do damage is sad! in my actual deck, I dropped the sketchy black of my Jund deck wins for a more traditional Gruul deck wins. But sorry, if i don't see the power of Kird Ape as 1 for a 2/3... i prefer to be a little slower and have a better late game to have a chance of winning if i got wrath or counter a few time

Mutagenic Growth's effectiveness is situational and should be removed. Searing Blaze should be down to 3 for the same reason.
