Just started playing Gruul Zoo and I'm loving it. Went 3/2 at the local modern tourny this week. The two decks that I had trouble with were Melira pod and BW tokens. Tokens I wasn't fast enough and got over run with spirits and the Pod deck was really good at drawing voice of resurgence then turning it into large dudes I could get past.
Overall i'm really happy with the deck and have a lot of fun playing it
Glad you liked it! ;p Keep feeding those animals, and they'll grow big enough to get you a 5-0 one day.
Welcome to the condundrom that pod. Its a midrange/combo deck, both are hard core weakness for the deck. 1 puts out giant blockers that eventually eat us. the other combos out and we dont run any real interactivity. What can you do to beat it? Well splashing white always gives good options like thalia or other silver bullet hate cards, but generally theres nothing you can do other then try to go faster. Rock paper scissors stuff.
Tokens is a weird one, because well its a midrange deck, but its also full of hate cards, which make it slower. Racing is always a fair option, but things like pyroclasm and volcanic fall out can rip that matchup hard core in your favor (it should already be.)
