Any thoughts as to this approach for UW Control? I am drawn to the allure of there possibly being another good 4-mana Jace, as well as playing the best white 'walkers printed, but is running a deck with no MB counters really the way to go? Any thoughts on this?

This deck is pretty good without Jace 2.0. Imagine if it has Jace 2.0 and isn't this guy the douche that cheats his locals and tried to do so on camera?
I have no idea of the player's history, if somebody wants to fill me in, that's cool, but I'd like to judge the deck on its own merits, as it is the first deck I've seen to use Jace4 and Gideon effectively. And what's not to love about Gideon? He's like the Andrew WK of planeswalkers, his +2 is totally "Party at my place!" for a turn.

Here ya go. Whether or not it is substantiated with evidence. This GP caught many players do very shady things. You can say it was a "mistake" or they "forgot" which is what they want. It is very hard to pin a cheater down since they can always say they genuinely made a mistake like draw extra cards. It's happened many times in my LGS and these players don't stop until they are caught red handed.
I think this list is solid approach to UWb modern control. Counter magic is pretty horrible against fair decks in modern. Board wipes and plane walkers is a clear and simple strategy. Lots of removal and powerful planes walkers to generate advantage. There is a lot of value in this deck and my opinion is that spreading seas is the best modern blue can trip.
On a side note i think its asinine to bring up cheating in a deck discussion thread. Pretty sure there are 3-4 discussion on cheating in appropriate threads.
I already started discoursing this deck under the Uwx (caw blade) control thread, I don't think we need 800 threads for any old control deck that makes an appearance. This is basically just full circle from where I started over a year ago. This deck hedges vs Jund but ends up with a lot of bad match ups.

Uh not trying to take any credit just saying that there is already an ongoing conversation for this style of deck for some time, just look on the first page of that thread.
I think it's fine to discuss this specific list if the best we have is the first few pages of the UW Caw Blade Thread.
I don't really see the appeal in a list like this in an open field. Yes, I'm sure this literally destroys any fair creature deck. Wall of Omens, the large amounts of removal/sweepers, and the sweet PWs will get you there, of course. But I don't want to try and have to win games 2 and 3 against any of the unfair decks every round, especially on MODO, when I feel like I play against half storm decks, half rest of the field.
I agree, his SB looks great, my issue is just that (for me, this is just my personal opinion) I'd rather not force myself to beat decks like Scapeshift and Storm, possibly even Tron in games 2 and 3 every time. That's my only point.
I'm sure I'll get around to testing this list a little bit more over the holidays.
This is the line for UW that I see in the future - Spreading Seas and Wall of Omens are really good right now, and it only makes sense to back up a wall with planeswalkers, via Zen-Ala standard.

I don't agree. Tron looks like a good match with 4 md spreading seas, path to exile for wurmcoil. Negates for karn and mind break trap for emmy.
There is only one Negate in this list and a deck doesn't have any real clock to make Spreading Seas good. Tron simply gets more Urza's lands, Stone or something like Nature's Claim and continues to play Karns and Eldrazi. Number of his threats is higher than number of your answers and he has access to a higher number of cards than you do.
Also he has answers to any your threats (Stone, Karn, All is Dust) if he really cares about something you have like Gideon (he usually doesn't).
Sure, you can deal with Wurmcoils but this matchup isn't about Wurmcoils at all.
Its essentially the control version of kiblers deck. It beat jund pretty well, but does not have another favorable match. After sideboard some of the worst match-ups get closer to 50-50 and are solely dependent on drawing hate.
I had a similar list that I kicked around for a while that had red and replaced gideon with ajani vengeant a a few other red cards. His mana base was better than mine though because I still had the splash black for lingering souls.

I was at gp Toronto and there was more TRON than Jund present. This type of argument is magical Christmasland. Morton did well enough to be a rogue player with a rogue deck to top 8.
The fact is there are pieces present that slow down tron, and there are answers to what TRON presents as well. To say that it has no chance when it main decks 4 spreading seas is way off base. Not having to deal with turn 3 karn and putting them in a position where they have to dig for more urza tron is exactly what you want the TRON player to do. I would much rather have my TRON opponent spend their turn digging than resolving karn and wurm coils.

This.
If i recall he said that tron and affinity were the non-jund decks he beat. He did still lose to affinity in the top 8 and it didn't seem like too good of a match up.

I was there and was rather impressed with how strong the deck actually was. BAtterskull is huge in the affinity match up, equipped to a flying token or elspeth token is rather rough. Even equipped to a gideon won games.
I know I for one will be making it, with a few tweaks. I may try a one of Sorin lord of innistrad or something, but I like the idea.

Dunno if no-counters would be enough to make it tough.
