Merfolk exists it is just being underestimated.
People thought that cawblade wasn't going to be a deck anymore and the deck won tournaments immediately after the bannings.
I really think zoo is going to be hated out of the format by everyone. Which is why I'm not expecting it that much. I do concede that I may just being thinking too far ahead though.

look at history. When fae decks were not a player in 1.x merfolk decks did nothing. Faeries are all but dead thus merfolk is all but dead. Remember this isn't OE, or legacy. ZOO is almost impossible to hate out of a format, you think its dead then it changes to deal with the best deck in the format.
here is my list for 5cc(which is actaully only 4cc lol) I'll put it on the OP. The sideboard is random and untested.

Do you think Rain of Tears will be fast enough against 12 post? The deck is so brutal on how fast it can build up the posts. I would think Ghost Quarter would be better. Granted you lose tempo, but they lose a valuable asset. Or course, if you run into the versions running Life from the Loam/Crucible, it's all for naught. I think a mixture of Spreading Seas (MD) and LD (SB) would be best.

i'm not sure how much hate to hand out to the matchup up. Remember that they can still only play 1 land per turn so 3 mana is not too slow. I think a mix of spreading seas and ran of tears might be necessary.

In G/U or mono-G Post you will see this ALOT
T1: Post
T2: Breeding Pool/Forest, Explore, Post
Now unless you are prepared for a T3 Titan or craziness, you will probably lose. Now countermagic obviously negates the T3 Titan, but it just slows the inevitable. Or can you handle a T6 Genesis Wave for 5-6? Don't be unprepared for that matchup. In my MWC, I'm probably going to have to put in 8 cards in the sb alone for that matchup, but that's just cause MW doesn't have alot to fight 12 post.

Not really.
Even if that were true, turn one Thoughtseize or turn two Spreading Seas puts a stop to that right quick.

Cool godhand. Counter the explore and destroy both lands. God hands will win a lot, but that cannot be helped.

discard helps a lot, we have a lot of options to deal with the deck. Oh and fethers I threw up a grixis mana base on the OP if you want to give it a whirl. I tried to run as few shocks as possible to conserve life.

3 lands and an explore is hardly a god hand for them. Them having an Explore is like you having a Thoughtseize. I've probably played more against MG Post and UG Post and U Post than either of you, so I'm pretty sure I know how rediciously fast that deck is.
The reason I posted that example above is showing you need Spreading Seas MD and an answer SB.
When you lose to a T3-4 P Titan or a T6 Emrakul because you didn't draw your 3 sb'd cards, I warned you guys. I have alot of experience in this format. I play on MTGO about 2-3 hours a night for the two months. I've probably played that matchup alone 20-30 times.

Hate to tell you homie, but the format was really just born this morning. All you were doing was playing a beta.

They got what a 10% chance to have 2 cloud post at that point in the game.

Speading seas is absolutely awful against zoo. see tempo loss.

I have plenty of experience 2. I know the deck as I have been on both sides of the aisle. Also read sadistic sacrament, it deals with the eldrazi, and the titans are a joke for this deck to deal with if that is all the win cons they have left.

your percentages are way off. They play 12 posts. 8 of them being cloudposts. With 8 ways to dig one up by T2.
My Control deck will still wreck the environment cause everyone will be playing Zoo or some sort of Aggro deck. I don't need to ramp up to cast a 8 mana spell. I just beat them with better attrition. Now I lose to 12post, that is why I have practiced that matchup so much. I'm just giving you advice, if you want to be an ass about it, I'll just leave it that and call it a day, no sweat off my back.
Why do i act so entitled? Cause my deck has dominated tournaments, this has not. My deck is stickied, yours is not. My dec will be in the competetive forum when this splits, this will not. That's why!

and 8 of the post are worthless unless they have cloud post. I know I need ways to deal with the deck. I'm not denying that, but I'm not going to take a 5-10% loss on every other matchup just to get a bit on this one. The deck also craps out a lot and has bad draws just like any other deck. It will not start with 2 cloudpost, a forest, an explore, and a threat every single game.

I like the manabase, Slip. Might be a bit light on red, and possibly one too many cards, but I like it.
Lost to Ascension, then he booked it game two after an Ignite Memories with storm count eight only did like five damage (thanks to a hand that was mostly land).
I'm very satisfied with Spreading Seas. I was able to keep the Ascension guy down for a while by just SSing his red sources.
Also, Repealing a Spreading Seas just to play it again and draw two cards is the most absurd thing I've done in a while. lol

post a recent list so I can ajust it for your deck. It is just a basic template. 26 lands is usually right you could go down to 25 if you want. the deck general runs 25-27 lands so any number is probably fine.

the 2 damage isn't really worth it for the 5cc version. this version focuses on heavy black, and red is more less a splash.
so in the 5cc variant
rain of tears > molten rain
Grixis version
molten rain>rain of tears
EDIT: also I have sadistic sacrament for post.
