I was playing BUG Infect in modern for a while and i have a few things to say. First off while yeah, UWR varients are a tough matchup, its really not that bad. Its more than possible to play around counters and removal, you just have to take your time and think things through. Also, Infect really isn't a "coin-flip" at all. Sure it can sometimes draw the t2, and get there, but more likely than not your stuck playing through all sorts of hate. It takes a lot of skill to play the deck, and to play against it. It forces players to learn about timing and the stack. To me, that signifies good magic.
The fact that people hate it so much just makes me like playing it even more. It's extremely satisfying to t2 some baby who cries about how unfair it is.

I agree with the majority of this, infect is actually a deck that requires a lot of decision making and skill at baiting your opponent. Also as already pointed out they way infect forces people to interact with and think about the stack makes for better games of magic. The part I disagree with is infect having an ok match against uwr, that match is just brutal. As far as losing to infect goes, spellskite is a house against the deck and any deck can play it, that + removal leaves you with no real excuse to be caught with your pants down.
As far as the idea of hating decks like this in general goes, I personally enjoy the "glass cannon" style decks as often there can be an extra layer of play to determining how to draw out counters/removal from opponents in order to safely kill them. Personally I find UWR Control to be an atrociously boring deck and hate getting paired against it.
With Theros comming in a couple of weeks, is there something that can help Infect in his struggle against Tier 1 decks(especially Midrange decks like BG(X) and UWR? or playing Infect is no longer a good idea in this meta?

The deck aims to finish the opponent as fast as you can. Sweepers like Supreme Veredict are cast on turn 4 so as an infect user, you have to win before that. Its only hard versus some decks with tons of removals like Jund and WUR.
Edit: Who plays Damnation in the current meta btw?
anyone that plays black and wants a top deck answer to jund/BG ingeneral.
i completely forgot to make an answer to spellskite in game 2. well i'll keep that bugger in mind when playing next time.
i put in two sylvan scrying to tutor up nexus. i figure that is some sort of hedge against loss of regular infect creatures, or a means to an end to get cathedral of war or pendlehaven

Howdy. I was part of the old Infect thread at it's earliest inception, but I have sort of stopped playing the deck. I wanted to ask if anyone had tried Simic Charm in the deck, because it's utility feels really nice to me. I always tended to build for a slightly longer infect game that hopefully was a bit more resilient too. For that kind of deck the Charm feels really great.
Another card that I have always been partial to is Unstable Mutation, and at times I have fun it in place of Rancor. The downside (for this deck) is the lack of trample, but the upside is the +3 toughness which I have really liked at times.
I just wanted to drop in and propose those because I did not see them in the primer and I have liked them.
Not sure where is infect going, but with uwr running around its kinda hard to run it for me. If i wanna go for a later game, i did run more protection spells and add in wild defiance for free +3/3 so u could pump ur creatures using protection spells instead of the normal pump spells.

Well, lets be honest...Infect has always been a high risk/high reward deck. I think if I were against RWU I would side in Dispel over Remand, and a couple more Vines of Vastwood. This gives me a pretty decent protection suite:
That is just off the top of my head, but on paper it defends well. Another thought is to replace Dispel with Muddle the Mixture so that I am adding even more utility.
I think that the ideal plan when facing RWU is to get a Blighted Agent in play and protect it as you slowly give them poison counters. You wont have the mana most of the time to pump so transform the deck into a more control deck with the SB. You might even try the tempting Phyrexian Crusader in this match along with Agent because Crusader can protect himself pretty well.
I am sort of rambling, sorry. Just getting a rush of ideas.
Phyrexian Crusader is not a good choice vs UWR. They can counter it and in case you made it land on the battlefield they will just Unsummon it(with Cryptic Command) and then try to counter it next time you try to drop him. His 3 cmc makes him not a good choice for a deck like Infect Combo.

You are probably right, I was kind of just spewing ideas.
That being said my friend had great luck with the phyrexian crusader in his grixis control deck for versing America Control.
If you do want to use this guy you can try doing for a slower kill then combo infect taking out many of your pump spells and nickel and dimming him until he dies.
I have had some success with Red Green infect. Running ghor-clan assault strobe, simian spirit guide, colossal might and just not caring about blockers. Just plow right over them. I tried it at GP detriot and did well early on but the deck has so much trouble verse living end and jund that I failed latter on. It was very much an all in deck and hope they did not have an answer.

How fast is your win generally? I have not faced Living End with Infect in quite a while but I can't imagine LE has changed all that much and I used to outrace it game one most of the time. From there Cage can come in and even though they can remove it you can still outrace them.
Jund could be a problem, though. When Jund started splashing for Lingering Souls last year was about the time I stopped playing and developing this deck for the reason that it was so tough. I have not faced the new iteration of Jund with this deck yet, however.
Mmmmm change the simic guildgates to hinterland harbor as it has a high chance to come into play untapped, change titanic growth to giant growth as it's better as u spend 1 less mana which could give you more options to use that 1 other mana.
Its actually very simple, Viridian Corrupter is a 3 CMC drop and only destroys an artifact on entry to the battlefield, whereas Nature's Claim is a 1 CMC spell that targets both artifact and enchantments, however it gives the controller of the artifact or enchantment being destroy 4 life, but as infect play we don't look at life totals, we look at poison counters.
Inkmoth Nexus is pretty much needed as most of the time, they could only get rid of inkmoth on your turn like path to exile or bolt. Also due to the low creature count, a inkmoth actually makes the play better as it enters as a land until u activate it so no matter what opponent do, he can't destroy it using normal means unless he plays a land destruction effect.
*And if your actually bored of infect, the inkmoth could also be used for Affinity, which also runs a playset of inkmoth nexus as their alt win con. Cranial plating + inkmoth nexus with a ton of artifacts in play = good game.

Should cost about $127 to form this deck, should perform well in a FNM setting but not that sure about the matchup.

BUG Infect uses discard spells like Inquisition of Kozilek/Thoughtseize to get rid of things that might ruin your race(ex. a Spellskite in game 2).

The +1 toughness cannot save your guys from Shock (Burst Lightning, Pillar of Flame, full Electrolyze, Izzet Charm, etc.), let alone Bolt/Helix/Ajani Vengeant/Garruk Relentless. I'll pass on Titan's Strength--the real reason to splash red is Assault Strobe's double strike.
Mmmmm change the simic guildgates to hinterland harbor as it has a high chance to come into play untapped, change titanic growth to giant growth as it's better as u spend 1 less mana which could give you more options to use that 1 other mana.
Move Viridian Corrupter to the sideboard or replace it with Nature's Claim/Seal of Primordium.
Also your missing the core manlands, which is a auto include 4 Inkmoth Nexus.
Other then that, Hmmm maybe 1 or 2 Pendelhaven and you should be good.
For the control part, Maybe ya should change -2 cancel and -2 unsummon for +4 Dispel as most stuff like Lightning Bolt,Path to Exile, Electrolyze, Burst lightning, Lightning Helix, etc are instants, so a dispel should cover most of the removal part.
