Storm can be dealt with by having Mindbreak Trap which is also good against Elves they dont expect it and when that Craterhoof Behemoth or Emrakul hits you can exile it. Eidolon of the Great Revel is another good option and is a creature.
Thanks guys, I think I'll go with the Eidolon path. Seems like it wouldn't slow me down too much and I did notice that if they don't combo out by turn 3, they're usually dead in the water by 4.
Yeah, they have a weird matchup against us. life wise, we force them to go off turn 3, which is less then optium for them. usually our best defence against them is fast offense, and let them fizzle.
A card I was thinking about for a mana sink, what are your thoughts on Figure of destiny? Too slow or would it be a good choice over dryad singleton. It doesn't trigger e1, but everything else does and if I flood, it's a great beater.
@lantern: Great primer, very solid and informative.
This idea is kind of out there, but someone in my meta runs this deck and plays 2-3 Myr Superion in the deck and it is just sick. Now, I don't like it personally because this deck should not have dead cards in hand ever, everything should be straight up aggression. When the thing lands it is usually game, and is an absurd threat early on. He doesn't run anything to support it besides BTE, and I am not sure if this deck would actually benefit from it or how much it would take to support it, but it is a total monster.
I play Figure of Destiny in most of my RDW lists, always love seeing it and he rewards mana-flood. It also has the benefit of boosting Hackblade. Highly recommend testing it out.

I think it is all right. Though if you are looking for a mana sink creature, I think Scavenging Ooze would be a better option.

If you look at the list I posted though, I run primarily red. Scooze is great and I could run both, but I was thinking it as a 1 drop.
@Pulp_fiction, the hackblade synergy was one of the reasons I was considering it over dryad.
For Gruul colors, would it be a good idea to add 1 Pendelhaven? If there is only 1 copy, that shouldn't really have any drawbacks, and it can make Experiment One useful if you top deck one if the game goes longer.

I might be wrong on this but if E1 and Kird Ape arent currently a 1/1 then this Pendlehaven wouldnt be able to pump them up and if but after another creature came down they wouldnt give him a +1 +1 counter.
Rulings
The current power/toughness being 1/1 is a targeting requirement so it is checked when announcing and again right before resolving.
Yeah but if the game goes longer and you draw a E1, you likely will not having anything to evolve it, and in cases like these, having a Pendelhaven is better then having a 2rd or 3rd forest.
I'd rather run a wolf run to pump a late game creature. You really shouldn't have to worry about late games if you're playing it right. I haven't had many games that go longer than 4 maybe 5 turns.
So I'm going to a ptq qualifier in Washington next month. I'm thinking I'm going to be rocking my gruul list. I'll be able to run 4 verdant catacombs though and I'll have access to Tarns or Marsh flats as well. Should I go Naya even though I won't be able to get Mesas? I could run 1 plains, 1 sacred foundry, and 1 temple garden. I would probably run miss Nacatl and kird ape if I went that route as well as Paths and probably thalia in the sb. thoughts?

I play Gruul colors with 4 Molten Rain mainboard, just tossing some ideas out there.
Current deck idea that I'm considering, open to change it. I haven't decided between Boar or Hackblade yet. I kind of love being able to swing with Hackblade after a bte chain.
May I ask if Kavu Predator isn't an option or did I just not overlook him? I mean he is a powerhouse against any lifegain or is he just too depending? Also he is a 2/2 Trample for 1G or is that not good enough?

Yeah, but it's really more "Disney Evil" than practical. It's like being a bond villain and giving a monologue rather then just shooting them.
If you want to play on MTGO add me I'm HeskatetAS, playing Modern and Legacy

I was actually thinking about adding both of those, I will test it out. I'm pretty happy with my list and I think those will help more too.

Reclamation Sage 2G
Creature - Elf Shaman
When Reclamation Sage enters the battlefield you may destroy target artifact or enchantment.
2/1
The only 3-drop creature I'd consider running in a straight gruul aggro deck is maybe burning-tree shaman.
