I think it's safe to say the value of Stony Silence differs from version to version.

“Modern has provided us a non-rotating format that is far more accessible than Legacy or Vintage, but still retains many of the qualities that people enjoy in those formats—such as a more stable metagame, the ability to play and tweak the same deck week after week, and simply a much more powerful card pool than Standard.”
- Sam Stoddard, “Developing Modern” (June 21, 2013) (by means of Sheridan Lardner, "Fixing Modern: Defining Format Mission (March 16, 2016))
I don't like Mirran Crusader in the main, but I feel that he's a very relevant SB card. I run one and often find myself wanting another. In those grindy Pod matchups it almost feels like cheating if I can land him as early as turn 2/3. If I do, I just Path/Wisp away whatever's white and take them down before they can get established. T1 Noble Hierarch T2 Mirran Crusader T3 swing for 6 that's virtually unblockable. Same goes for Rock/Junk/Green Nykthos. The problem, of course, is that our sideboard slots are just so incredibly stretched. Do we use slots for those matchups? I always want to bring at least 18-19 cards and have an awful time cutting the last few down to 15.
When it comes to Affinity, I find that Splicer and Mindcensor is key. I sometimes win by assuming the beatdown role with an early Golem, and when they have to start chump blocking, they lose. Again, T1 Hierarch T2 Blade Splicer T3 attack with 4/4 first strike. Aven Mindcensor is basically a kill spell for Vault Skirge, a card that we HAVE to get rid of imho. Flash blocking is a good trade. Spellskites come out of the board because blocking an equipped Etched Champion that one time might be enough, and if it lets us keep a Golem on the offence, that's good. GW has a much better matchup against Affinity with Qasali Pridemage (I save it for Cranial Plating 9 out of 10 times) and Creeping Corrosion.

By the way...new M15 card is a big "**** you" to D&T. LOL.
Read the comments on it. Everyone's saying DnT got a new toy... Have they seen our decklists? Like ever? I'm gonna go pound my head against a wall to get the stupid out. I am pretty sure people will recommend literally ANY white card spoiled to DnT.
Hushwing Gryff. As a deck that abuses Flickerwisp, Restoration Angel, Blade Splicer, and sometimes Tidehollow Sculler ETB triggers, that bird is, well, let's just say that card flips the bird in more way than one against this deck.

The only hope is that the interacts poorly with too many other decks so it only ends up seeing fringe play. Not too optimistic about that though. Hate always finds a way.

It's cool, we'll switch to a no resto, flickerwisp, or splicer build. And cry a lot.
Which current decks do you think would feasibly run this, though? Obviously Hatebears likes it, but I doubt control decks could afford hosing Their own Snapcasters.

Don't speak that heresey around me, son! You're not too old to be put over my knee, ya'hear?
Hahahahaha fiiiiine. On a more serious note, what white based decks would hit us with this? Not UWR they wanna keep running restos and snappies. Hate bears almost certainly will run this. Probably side in BW tokens. Really I can't think of that many white decks that WANT this effect. In any case we have a solution if need be in icathion javiloneers. Snipe it with the one damage and carry on.

I'm not too worried, it won't see lots of play in modern. Hatebears will play it for sure, but we'll see it a lot less than we're currently seeing Orb. It's going to be huge in standard though.

Does this really even threaten Twin? Whenever I am playing against it they aren't usually dumb enough to go all-in on the combo so they will hold back a counter just in case of disruption. I can see it being a good SB card for Pod for sure, but melira pod at least are almost as good at closing the game as a midrange combat deck.
Am I the only one who likes Devouring Light? Sure it comes in late, but it could be free exile by turn 3. In fact, it should frequently be free exile turn 3, and against Goyf decks that seems good to me.

For me the torpor orb on legs will take GW hatebears back into green white heatebears, and make sure it is very different from D and T hatebears, bar the core of both decks- the taxing part. My h8 br list runs 0 vial, mana dorks and goes up to thrun and baneslayer- something I would never dream of in D and T, whether Wg or otherwise.
The decks have bled together of late- people running full on GW D and T with nobles, hatebears running vials etc. They have become close cousins. This separates them nicely- are you a CIP flash/blink hatebear deck- D and T in oher words, or a less tricksy GW heatebear deck with beats.
This card is clearly a good/reasonable option for tradition GW hatebears in the right meta (twin, sistas, pod) , and obviously is a no no for D and T.
Other decks that could abuse it are few and far between- zoo may use it in the way they run mindcensor in the side. Other potential decks that may one day take off or be put together in a local meta on a budget- eg any mono W aggro build with disrption - eg straight W hatebears with no wisp tricks in other words (militants, grunts, meadowgrains, priests, knights, students et al, honors). Maybe a boros midrange build with blood moon.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Known opponent, playing ZombieVine (BG Zombies). The most notable play I make in the games is Vial'ing in a Flickerwisp after he discarded two cards to his Lotleth Troll. Also using Flickerwisp and Restoration Angel on his equipped creatures to stop the attacks.
Unknown opponent, but I quickly realise he's on Living End. This is not a deck I'm comfortable against. Game 1 I made a mistake by Vial'ing in Leonin Arbiter and Ghost Quartering his third land only for him to use Simian Spirit Guide to cascade the win. I had Thalia, Guardian of Thraben in hand and that could possibly have allowed me to win.
Game 2 I turn 2 Scavenging Ooze but he immediately top-decks a Shriekmaw and I have very little I can do after that.
Known opponent from prior scouting - he's on Pod running the Spike Feeder/Archangel of Thune combo. Both games are attrition battles but I struggle for mana while he floods, eventually he's able to cast all his stuff while I'm left with good stuff in my hand only coming down too late to matter. He never sees Pod, I have irrelevant search hate on the board.
New player, bad Rakdos deck, easy wins
Overall I finish 2-2 and with a GPT tomorrow, I'm hoping for better behaviour from my deck.

I like the single burrenton single mark split. Second mark is usually a dead card and burrenton is better than mark in some match ups. I wouldn't touch a thing in your deck to be honest. Cept maybe Akroma. I dunno never used her so I have no idea how good she actually is, just strikes me as slightly gimmicky.
So guys a question especially in the BW Build. How good is Leonin Arbiter really, it seems like he has been really underwhelming for me, because the Ghost Quarter does not happen very often and he just seems lack luster to me. Could it be worth to just play more powerful creatures instead of Arbiter and have better mana. The only thing that bothers is that the Pod Matchup seems really though without him.
He's good, especially supplemented with two fulminator Mage if you wanna go down that road. I never cut him, though I do occasionally board him out in some match ups.
