Seems nice! I do quite like the Shining Shoals he put in there.
Looks like my deck. And you're going to be disappointed in Shining. It just doesn't do enough. That say, when I tried it, it was in the eldrazi meta. Not this new one.

if it isn't any trouble, can you post your decklist? also, how much success have you had with the deck against decks that aren't eldrazi?

Is Disrupting Shoal really that good? For its alternate cost you have to have the same casting cost as what you're trying to counter right?
I guess the tallowisp triggers make it better.

Man in my personal opinion, disrupting sucks in modern. Ok, its a no-mana counter, buts in the most times is a 2-for-1 that you cant overcome, because of the lack of goods and cheap CMCs draw spells in modern(like brainstorm and predict in legacy). So disrupting is a little bit to risky for control shells, and to dead for other shells(its not like FoW)
People that play disrupting shoal play it because their deck can overcome the loss of tempo. Hence Day's Undoing Delver.

Not sure if you guys have seen this, as its kinda in the depths of the mtg internet, but I found this article here http://modernnexus.com/spirited-away-tribal-brewing-with-shadows-over-innistrad/ detailing a pretty sweet tallowisp list as well as reasoning through his thoughts. Anyone have thoughts on his list? I was seriously considering building it.
Is it just me, or does this deck completely dominate grindy matchups? Lingering Souls, Hexproof, and fliers!

It seems to me like there are four ways you can go with the deck.
Tempo
Tokens
Auras
Control
The two least expensive decks will be tokens and auras, and they don't suffer much in terms of competitiveness either. It's awesome to see a tribal deck thats so diverse, most tribal decks in Modern are very straightforward and rigid, but this one adheres to the user.

Speaking of meta, Vapor Snag seems extremely good at the moment.

I think writing a primer is a little difficult since this thread covers about 4 different iterations of the deck, my brew is a control deck but I know others are working on tribal aggro/tempo or the "tallow wisp aura into a tank" engine. Technically we're all spirit decks but they play pretty differently. I second vapor snag though, it's good vibes against infect.

Path and remand are not core. They very much depend on the version you wish to play. The Cap is questionable as well, but I think he's closer to being core.
My fiancee just started playing magic and wanted to play UW Spirits after playing both the new Intro UW Intro deck and the Blessed duel deck. After minimal research I've written this list;
Any thoughts? I've thrown in both Essence Flux and Slip Through Space to make sure GoST doesn't die when attacking, with one making Geist bigger and the other to draw cards. I also really like the idea of Dreamcatcher, just seems like a nice value one drop. The sideboard is a complete guess, but I had to shout out Eerie Interlude. In match ups where you'd expect sweepers, this card trumps them. At least in theory that is.

I really liked Dreamcatcher at first as well, but the problem is most of the time it's better to run Gitaxian Probe or Serum Visions. Also Essence Fluxwould be a lot better if your deck had more enter the battlefield effects, otherwise it doesn't really fit. I run Slip Through Space in my UR Prowess Modern deck, and although it is a good card, this deck wants to win by going wide instead of playing a few efficient threats, this means when you don't have a Geist, it's going to feel weak.
I highly suggest that you run Vapor Snag in the place of some of those cards, it is a very good card in the type of deck you're building.
Also, if you're going to play Lingering Souls, play a playset.
