I'm going to an small modern event this weekend and decided to run Jund since i'm quite familiar with this deck. But i'm kinda on a low budget and can't afford the most pricey cards right now, so i've made an budget list and wanted some feedback about it:
Strangleroot Geist - Playtested it and Putrid Leech, right now i'm leaning more towards Geist. If it's not pretty clear, that's my budget choice for Goyf.
Rakdos Augermage - I've seen it on Orin Beasley's GP Columbus list and liked it. At worst, it's 3 mana for an 3 power first strike creature. At best, it can rape your opponent's hand when its ability is played right. I'm seeing it as an kinda bad replacement for Liliana, but better than most options i've considered.
Night's Whisper & Phyrexian Arena - Budget Bob. Arena draws cards constantly, which is good for this deck, but Whisper comes a turn earlier and draws at the same time that you cast it, which is relevant on some matches and makes BBE give you an good CA when cascade into it.
I KNOW some cards are really essential to the deck, but i can't afford them right now, some i'm trying to find substitutes for it untill i buy them.
Some other budget choices i've considered but don't know if it's worth running instead of my options:
Jund charm is a must-have. It's amazingly useful. No one really knows how amazing it is until they use it...so just put it in there. Abyssal persecutor isn't good here. You don't have enough control element to really lock down the game consistently enough to use it. Also, 2 more inquisitions would be a good idea.
I play modern for a 4~5 month, but i just tired of my Melira Pod, i tried to play with Zombies and Doran, but the decks is too boring. Now i tried to play with Jund, temporarily i not have the Bob's and Goyf's, but with time i buy this overpriced guys.
Is eternal witness not being looked at for any real given reason?
Its not a bad card but it often feels like Blightning in that it is clunky sometimes. Against alot of decks games hinge on turn 3 in modern, Kitchen Finks is probably the best 3 drop a budget jund deck can play I think. A jund deck with no price cap usually goes turn 1 discard or EtBT land, into Bob/Goyf, into Finks/Liliana. The 2 drop is a personal preference for the pilot (avoid Putrid Leech, Jund is too suicidal for it) but the 3 drop should be something to help keep you in the game even another turn or so.
vial isn't bad.. It is just that, aether vial doesn't fit for Jund.. Sorry to say, imho, im keeping myself from being harsh.. Unless you build around it with a deck that's BRG colors.. Aether vial fits elsewhere.. You could replace those with other Jund's utility cards..
I went with 3 vial and 3 duress in the end for a tournament tonight. Ended up 2nd on tiebreakers with 3w-0l-1d
Vial was a dead draw only once, and saved my behind far too many times. Also allowing me to play a control role and drop in creatures at useful times. For example, an opponent cast Sun Titan and tapped out for it, I responded to its triggered ability and vial'd in Fleshbag Marauder, killing Sun Titan, leaving me only a 3 drop to deal with before I alpha swang for 9 next turn.
Yes, against tier 1 decks i'd probably lose, haven't tried, but budget decks don't beat tier 1 decks. However, I can beat tier 1.5 and tier 2 decks, and have, and do think that Aether Vial is atleast worth testing for those who have them.
Most good budget and home brew decks come in at tier 1.5. Mines a budget deck and ive beaten some tier one decks in tournys before. In modern right now every deck is really the same tier, it just comes down to good draws and match ups.

That is patently untrue. You do realize that tiers are based on popularity and frequency of being in the t8, not (necessarily) quality? It is true that much of the time the deck's "quality" often makes it popular, but their are other factors as well that influence the tier of the deck. Delver is a t1 deck because it is frequently seen in t8, which is largely due to it's "quality", but is also due to ease of play (ie how mentally fatiguing it is to play through a tournament), and exposure. A good contrast is to look at Melira Pod back during last worlds (tier 1.5)- it had more favorable match-ups than any other top deck, but was not nearly as commonly seen in t8 largely due to fewer people playing it. At some point it becomes a numbers game that keeps a deck from being tier 1.
You could have a rogue that blazes through the competition, but if few people want to play it the deck will remain a tier 3 deck at best.
There are tiers in Modern right now, though it is a broad and low curve since there are so many decks that could be considered tier 2. A tier 2 deck can take a tournament sometimes (like Death and Taxes), but will not very frequently be t8 (for whatever reason), and even more rarely be seen in multiples at t8. There are plenty of decks that fall in the same category.

Well thats what I was trying to say, just because you have a "tier 1.5" deck doesnt mean youll always lose, there are decks that are weak vs some builds, and you will have a good chance in your strong match ups. In tournys I dont see tiers. I can beat an american delver deck, and lose to a merfolk deck.

Sure, you could almost look at tiers as relevant before the tournament (in order to create the best SB), and after the tournament (in order to see the shape of the format), but when you are actually in the tournament it is all about the match you are currently playing. That does not mean that when looking at the format there are no tiers, however, and tiers can be a good shorthand to look at the format.
So, as a replacement for goyf, would ram-gang or quirion dryad be better? Or would something be better than either of them?
Before I had goyfs, I just used more removal. Tarmogoyf helps stop aggro, and if you can't get goyfs its easiest to just play something that serves a similar purpose at the same mana cost. The mana cost is really what's important to the deck in order to work correctly due to both Bob and for efficiency. So I'd recommend instead of playing a creature in his place, play more terminates or abrupt decays. Essentially, jund without tarmogoyfs means you just go with a more control-ish build.

Tombstalker - Since i'm not running Bob, why not?
Tribute to Hunger - It kills annoying and pesky creatures. Consuming Vapors could be another option, but can't be cascaded into.
Rise // Fall - Everyone likes Hymn to Tourach...It's faster than Blightning on the MUs that discards become pretty relevant.
Night's Whisper & Phyrexian Arena - Budget Bob. Arena draws cards constantly, which is good for this deck, but Whisper comes a turn earlier and draws at the same time that you cast it, which is relevant on some matches and makes BBE give you an good CA when cascade into it.

Some other budget choices i've considered but don't know if it's worth running instead of my options:
Tarmogoyf - Putrid Leech, Skinshifter, Troll Ascetic.
Liliana of the Veil - Hypnotic Specter
Dark Confidant - Sygg, River Cutthroat, Ohran Viper.
And other cards that i've been thinking about running:
Abyssal Persecutor (Instead of Tombstalker)
Consuming Vapors
Garruk Wildspeaker
Great Sable Stag
Sprouting Thrinax
Jund Charm

Will this deck tolerate not having another creature to battle or should I consider Quirion Dryad? Thanks.
