Okay, so I have been playing Taking Turns for like a year and a half now and consistently lose against this deck..
Was wondering if someone would be willing to explain the best strategy against it?
What sideboard cards are best and how do you attack the combo? I tried surgical extraction but the deck has ways of saving cards in response usually and path/bolt don't work well either
Is ceremonious rejection/negate the best way to go?

Damping matrix, damping spheres, stony silence, Leyline of the void and Chalice of the Void are the hate cards I've seen be effective. Still have to have them on a clock though or they'll fight through it eventually, as the deck is really resistant to hate.

Pyro Prison
Sun and Moon
Eldrazi Stompy
Good point! The tough part is that damping sphere also hurts Taking Turns...
I think i'll try to go up to 2 stony silence - seems good against Hardened Scales as well to prevent those insane attacks
Thank you!!
Lots of KCI seen in our area during big tournaments

Yea I don't see this continuing here, best option is Eggs, using Faith's Reward and Open the Vaults. It's been a wild ride, thanks for the fun, KCI. Sleep well, next to my Gitaxian Probes and Delvers.
Then it morphed from a cheesy way to cast emrakul (which I loved doing) to a loopy-mcloop-fest with spellbombs and I was mostly out of love at that point.
Carried on playing the deck for a while, did some Comp-REL events and it never felt the same. People's eyes, man. Their eyes would glaze over and i'd get this feeling in the pit of my stomach like I was part of the problem.
I eventually put the deck away for the good of the community. I felt like I couldn't inflict it on other people and it became an object of shame rather than adoration. Those sweet signed cards, those foils. They were dust to me, but they were trapped. Why play mox opal in any other deck?
Now though, I'm free. Those cards again have new life and new shine because there's no longer a 'best' thing to do with them which draws eye-rolls, grimaces and dead-with-boredom faces. Those cards can be whatever they want to be and I can brew and play and have opponents who laugh with me and shake my hand at the end of a match.
As a KCI player, thank you WotC. Thanks for killing the slow malaise that had crept over my modern experience without me really noticing.

Never had a problem with the deck, so my condolences to KCI pilots.
Any chance of the deck morphing into a grinding station combo? Probably not too likely, I admit. But grinding station combo is another complicated deck to pilot and sequence, but rewards skilled play much like KCI, and uses opals and trawler. Just a thought.
I started playing Magic in Return to Ravnica. I don't remember how I discovered it, but I soon became my go to hobby, slinging spells with my friends and drafting on Fridays. 2 Professional tournaments got me into MTG concretely though, Pro Tour Dark Ascension and Pro Tour Return to Ravnica. To this day, I am a fervent fan of our lord and savior Brian Kibler, and I wish I was playing modern at the time and was able to experience Eggs. Years passed, and my interest in Magic waxed and waned, but no matter how uninterested I was in it at any particular time, it was always a part of my life. I began to follow the MTGSalvation Primers of Post-Ban Eggs, never posting, just lurking underneath. I watched a rough-hewn version of Eggs with Phyrexian Rebirth and Wargate morph into Faith's Reward and KCI, and then Trawler and KCI. I was so happy that KCI was the direct progeny of Eggs. Only a month ago did I actually build the deck, but I followed its success and retinkering since the beginning. I am content with what it accomplished in its short lifetime, and I am happy to see what engines Eggs will use in the future. Sayonara, dear friend.
Here is the Eggs list I have been running for over a month. It doesn't have a lot of flex spots, and it will never be top tier like OG eggs or KCI, but I am hopeful at its promise. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/third-breakfast-1/
Since the banning on Monday it is clear that KCI will no longer be sticking around as KCI. As such, it is getting moved to Deck Creation while players figure out how to salvage the deck, or move to a new one. Beyond that, the primer hadn't been updated since 2013 so now is a great time to start a new thread with a fresh OP. We will give it some time, but if everyone is moving to a new thread then this will eventually become archived as any future iterations of the deck will be very different.
EDIT: It's clear this deck is dead, so I am archiving it. You can continue the next iteration of the deck over at the Eggs primer. Happy Brewing!

Happy to see KCI go. I want to see more creativity with brewing decks like this, and I any wait to shuffle in some faith’s rewards with baubles again.

I'll make the primer for the Post banning eggs unless someone has a thread they would rather be the main.
I was a longtime old-school eggs player even before Faith's Reward was printed.
Like storm, eggs can have its most important cards banned and still recover. It'll be tier 3 for a little, but it'll come back.
I'll update it with more than baseline options tomorrow.
