Nice build.
I'm playing mono-red due to budget concerns, but should I splash a color, it would be black for sure. Dark Confidant gives the deck a lot of power and resilience.
If you don't win by T4-T5 (or even if they counter Confidant), how do you answer threats/push the last bit of damage through? I feel like you could replaceShard Volley with Anathemancer or Shrine of Burning Rage.
I haven't had much problem pushing through the last points (Even on mulligans). If Blightning does resolve their lose of 2 cards puts other decks in a low card situation like us but with much less health as we already dome shot them with half a hand of bolts.

If you didn't win the game by turn 4-5 or leave them at burn range for a topdeck, then no card will save you.
Has anyone tried RDW at local tournaments? I'd like to hear some match ups and how RDW fares against local metagames. I'm not looking to go national here, but I'd definitely like to play competitively within my own city.
I've taken my list to very small local modern nights 10-13 people, i've played top 4 twice. Mine is much more aggresive, spark elemental + simians, no splash. I've played steel (smash to smithereens is beautiful) pyro (a race thats definitely winnable) and splinter twin (same thing, but much harder)
Hmmm I see. What's the metagame at your local like?
Also, how do you guys feel about Devastating Summons?
Summons is a bad choice as if it is countered you lose.

My take on this deck is the combo of Infernal Plunge/Fling with any of the creatures for a bonus. Sac an arsonist or marauders for an extra ping. Sac an unblocked Ball Lightning or Hell's Thunder in Main Phase 2 for an extra 3 mana to pump out some more sorcery/instant pings and/or hit them for another 3-6.
An interesting take on this though on this COULD be splashing blue; the deck I am posting below (i.e. Snap Caster/Spellweaver Volute to keep burn's up if you are heading against a slow control deck).
I posted a link in the decklists, tournament sections. My meta for modern is pretty small 8-13 people. There is a good range of players though from bad standard decks, to pyro and twin decks piloted by really good players. RDW is very viable right now, but man it can be hated out SO easy.
I have winning records against Affinity, Living End (weird right?), Jund, and Elves (I make them pay for not blocking). My sideboard is in its infancy, but some of the choices should be pretty obvious. The 1-of Fling is being tested right now as added reach.
I like this build because it's more resistant to hate (and Kitchen Finks), but what do you guys think?

My Decks: Modern - BG Death Cloud Rock GB UG Aggro Control GU WBRG Dark Zoo GRBW (testing)
Any of you guys thought about a B splash? Bump in the Night, Blightning, and Dark Confidant. Then a couple of good sideboard cards like Rain of Gore (**** YOU FINKS, LOXODON HIERARCHS, TIMELY REINFORCEMENTS, AND OBSTINATE BALOTH), and my pet card, Anathemancer.
I really like the idea of a black splash. Green gives the deck a lot of aggressive creatures, but then you should just play Zoo. Black gives it more of a control touch, which I like a lot. It also gives the deck more resilience against combo (discard) and fatties (kill spells).
That said, I'm on budget constraints, and the mana base for a splash costs enough money already, so Dark Confidant is out of question. What could I use instead of it? Phyrexian Arena?

I would build the Landbase, add in stuff like Bump and Blightning, then run a typical list after that. Work up to the Confidant-and-holy-****-it-still-costs-$50-even-though-no-one-plays-it-anymore. I suspect that this is going to become "That one version of a cheap deck that is slightly better, but costs like $400 more."
I've been trying it and, while I think it works fine on Standard, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's too slow for Modern. Many times I've found myself holding it waiting for morbid and just having better things to do with 3 mana. But maybe I need to give it more chances.
