Has anyone been testing battle hymn yet? If used at the right time it can generate much more mana than even seething song could, especially when combined with the young pyromancer.
Sometimes i have so much mana i dont even know what to do with it
Oh man! I can't believe I forgot about Battle Hymn! That, and maybe Infernal Plunge could really put Young Pyromancer to some better use than as just another win condition. I still worry about how efficient Young Pyromancer is in general, but it can't hurt to test.

I dont run Grapeshot, just empty the warrens. I attempt to win via Bushwhacker
Sometimes you don't even need to cast Empty the Warrens, you generate enough dudes with the Pyromancer alone and then kick the whacker to pump them all

Really interesting take on the deck, Hinotama! The Augurs of Bolas are a very interesting addition. They're kind of like a worse Peer Through Depths, but they leave a body behind for Bushwhacker and Battle Hymn. How have they been working for you so far? Also, how has the regular Peer been working? It feels it might be sub-par in a deck with more permanents, but it is the deepest dig we've got and can move things like redundant Electromancers, Pyromancers, and lands to the bottom.
I took your previous decklist (with the Hidden Strings) for a few test runs, and it looks like you and I came to some similar conclusions since then. From what I noticed in my testing:
If you have more than 16 lands, you get mana-flooded too often.
Battle Hymn can potentially make a butt-ton of mana; often more mana than I know what to do with. But if you have a lot of creatures, why not just attack? If you're behind though, it can pull you out of some rough patches. I probably wouldn't run as more than a 2-of, but it may have a place in the deck.
The deck really struggles with consistently sculpting its hand, so more cantrips are a must.
You have to use a larger combination of cards to win, which is just less efficient than Grapeshot. (i.e. Spells + Empty the Warrens/Young Pyromancer + Goblin Bushwhacker vs. Spells + Grapeshot)
Going off of that, 4 Empty the Warrens felt like too much.
So going off those observations, I tweaked the deck and ended up with this:
I explained most of the changes, but there is one pretty noticeable addition: Infernal Plunge. Personally, I really like the card in this deck because if you have a Young Pyromancer in play, it's basically a Red Dark Ritual. Storm has had issues by not having a consistent +2 mana ritual, and Infernal Plunge fits the bill there. However, it is decidedly less attractive if you don't have any tokens to sac. I replaced 3 Pyretic Rituals, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the correct way to split them.
what do you guys think about the list travis woo posted on channelfireball today. he aswell gives the young pyromancer empty the warrens build a shot but adds beck/call to his list.
actually it is not a list he brewed but a list inspired by Geddy Therrien.

I tested this deck out and unfortunately, I think it is just too reliant on its gimmick to function. For one thing, you need to cast Beck BEFORE you put any creatures into play. Already, that's -GU from your pool. If you have Young Pyromancer out, you'll draw a couple cards, but will you have enough mana and rituals to keep the chain going? It seems to me that you'd likely be on Turn 4 by that point, which is when you should be winning. Beck looks like it would be better off near the end of your chain, so that you could capitalize on Empty the Warrens. But by that point, why not just replace Beck with Bushwhacker, instead of using Beck to draw your whole deck so you can find that singleton card?
Dryad Arbor is cute, but horrible. You never want to draw it, you only want to fetch for it, and only on your combo turn. Sure you can Infernal Plunge it or use it for Battle Hymn, but the fact is that it makes G a turn late in a deck that only wants that mana for one card.
If I learned anything from my testing of Channel the Suns, it is that even splashing for a third color severely reduces Modern Storm's consistency. On a deck that usually requires only three lands to win, it is just too hard to get all your colors without doing a lot of damage to yourself. Forbidden Orchard is cute and all, but again, it's only good when you're going off. Otherwise, the tokens it creates are a liability, being able to attack you or block some of your Alpha Strike.
Also, the deck doesn't run Goblin Electromancer. That is bad. That is very, very bad. In a deck that wants to make such inefficient use of its mana, why on earth would you cut the best ritual effect in the deck? The lack of Electromancer plus the tri-colored manabase slows you down too much.
In conclusion, the deck is cute, but durdly and unreliable. There are fun little synergies, but they don't really help you win. The deck just isn't competitive.
Burn at the Stake is an interesting card, but the problem is that it is reliant on creatures. We almost always make enough tokens to attack through any board position, and I'd rather our Plan B not be entirely reliant on our Plan A.
I am intrigued by Epic Experiment, though. With Battle Hymn out, we can make enough mana to cast an incredible amount of spells. As awesome as it sounds though, it still has similar problems to Burn at the Stake. It's still reliant on creatures, and it actually doesn't win immediately unless we throw a Grapeshot or two in. But by that point we would have to cut at least 4 cards, and in a deck that's so strapped for space that might not be a good idea. I guess it still feels win-more unless your opponent has shut you down from attacking.
That's just what I've been getting from a cursory glance, though. It may work out much differently. If you're going to test that list, you might want to switch the count for the Desperate Rituals and the Pyretic Rituals. The Splice ability actually comes in very, very handy most of the time.
EDIT: On second thought, I like how much easier it is to fetch Burn at the Stake than Goblin Bushwhacker. That may be very handy. 5 mana is still a lot, though.
I've decided that I don't really like Infernal Plunge. It is too reliant on Pyromancer/Warrens as you don't want to sacrifice Electromancer ever.
Plus, with Electromancer out it becomes a strictly worse Pyretic Ritual.
How does everyone feel about Reforge the Soul in this deck? It could be a decent mana sink for a huge Battle Hymn
I totally agree with you on Infernal Plunge. It's really only good if you drop Young Pyromancer early, and that doesn't happen as often as I would expect it to.
As for Reforge the Soul, I feel that it's too reliant on Battle Hymn to become active. You'll rarely want to Miracle it, since you need a handful of rituals in order to go off. It may have place, but I'm worried it will too often be a dead card. I'll give it a shot as a 2-of in place of Desperate Ravings, but I feel Ravings just has more utility, since you can get multiple uses out of it.

Ravings seems pretty good, but i always cringe when it discards my bushwhacker with no way to recur him. Maybe burn at the stake is the better choice here?
Is there a spell version of bushwhacker?
Edit: torrent of souls does it for 4r, and pumps +2. Im not sure if that is good enough. About the same as burn at the stake except you attack for the win

Yeah, that is another unfortunate thing about the Young Pyromancer build. Since Bushwhacker is the last thing we cast at the end of our chain, Desperate Ravings becomes significantly riskier without a means to recur him. Another problem with Bushwhacker is that we can't tutor for it effectively. If we do decide to go with Burn at the Stake, we may want to switch out the Desperate Ravings with Peer Through Depths so that we can dig for our win con.
Burn at the Stake feels better than Torrent of Souls to me, since Stake can't be blocked and both will be doing comparable damage anyway. That all said, Grapeshot is much, much, much more efficient at killing by direct damage, and its damage can split so we can deal with problematic creatures and planeswalkers. Burn at the Stake can't do that, and it costs a whole lot more.

Grapeshot is good of course, but I would rather just use the Grapeshot version of the deck and not even bother with Pyromancer or the Warrens and use Pyromancer's Swath instead.
I already use Peer through Depths, I think it is an excellent spell tutor.
Grapeshot is good of course, but I would rather just use the Grapeshot version of the deck and not even bother with Pyromancer or the Warrens and use Pyromancer's Swath instead.
Yeah, that's what I was getting at. As of right now, the standard Storm list is just more efficient than the Young Pyromancer one.
The problem with both of those is that they are pretty expensive at 3 CMC, even with Goblin Electromancer in play. We want to sculpt our hand earlier, rather than later. I remember some people had been testing out Ideas Unbound a while ago, but that card is best when you're going off and its cost can't be reduced. Others have looked into Telling Time, which may be better at finding Bushwhackers in the Pyromancer build, but I'm not sure if it does enough on its own.
None of those are 1 mana though, and that's part of what makes Sleight of Hand and Serum Visions so important to the deck. No reason not to test other options, though.
That build actually looks quite close to mine except I'm maindecking Bolts over Electromancers, and I have +1 Faithless, +1 Grapeshot, +1 Land, -3 Thought Scour. Thinking that I should do more testing with Electromancer main since everyone else seems to love him, but Bolts have saved me in so many games.
Your list looks pretty good SeTZeR! I've just got a couple observations, which may help with that odd feeling you're getting.
You're running 4 Battle Hymns. When I was testing the deck, I found that Hymn would often get stuck in my hand if I drew it too early. Since you're running the full count, you may be drawing them before they're optimal.
You've also got a lot of win conditions, but not a lot of cantrips that you can use to sculpt your hand or set up your draws. I might cut one or two Bushwhackers to make room for Serum Visions. That way you could find your kill cons by digging rather than drawing them naturally, where they run the risk of being dead cards.
Also, I think your deck has 61 cards, which would skew your consistency a little bit.
On another note, how has Burn at the Stake been working for you?
This deck really intrigues me. It looks like he cut the Desperate Ravings, the Peer Through Depths, and the Increasing Vengeances for Thought Scours and Faithless Lootings, making the deck a lot more Ascension focused. This version seems to lack the ability to get any sort of card advantage without an active Ascension, but if it gets there it can get a lot more out of its graveyard than the Finkel version. I'm not a fan of Faithless Looting myself, but that's more of a personal taste thing. I'm curious to test this build out and see how it compares to my current version.
would you guys take cards like pyromancer out when sideboarding (to blank more of their cards) or leave them in (to spread their removal out over more creatures and increase chances of a creature sticking)? This is something I've not been able to figure out yet...
I'm unsure what the correct move is when sideboarding with the Young Pyromancer deck, but the impression I got from playtesting is that Pyromancer is another engine. If you side out one of your engines, the deck will lose consistency. This, combined with the fact that they will probably keep their removal to deal with Electromancer, makes me hesitant to suggest siding out Pyromancer. This is all just conjecture though.
If you play a transformational SB, you have to make sure that you don't lose to the same cards as your mainboard plan. Unfortunately Abrupt Decay is always live against you no matter whether you choose to stick with Storm (hits Mancer, PA) or board into Twin (hits Pestermite/Exarch).

+3 Faithless Looting
In the Thought Scour build, I would play 3 Ravings over 3 Looting. Maybe also cut one Ascension for an Increasing Vengeance.

Thats a pretty nifty idea combining beck with Warrens and the Pyromancer.
I think I will like to drop the Augur as it sometimes whiffs which is no good. Peer through Depths is likely the better choice
Havent tested Infernal Plunge yet, but I expect it to work pretty well with the mancer.
Bushwhacker will usually get the job done without needing Burn at the Stake, and it cost 3 less too.
Burn would be good for the standard version of the deck
