SCG Louisville had a RG Scapeshift finish top 32! Nice! Smile
Has a deck list been posted? I just finished this deck this weekend. My local meta is Eldrazi, Lantern, Infect, AFFINITY heavy right now. Thoughts on this deck list I just finished for that Meta?
What does Spellskite do for this deck? Is it worth running those 2 copies in the mainboard?
Infect is probably the hardest matchup you will have with the deck. And those 2 maindeck skites help out a lot there. It's also a good blocker for other aggro decks, and also helps out with the burn matchup (which is also one of the deck's harder matchups).
Still undecided about Jaddi Offshoot. I mean, I see how it can be nuts vs Burn, but that's pretty much the only matchup I can imagine ever boarding them in.... Am I missing something?
Played this yesterday at four round modern tournament.
Round 1 Affinity 2-1
Game 1: I won the dice and ramped quite fast, meanwhile he casted threats like Memnite, Pestermite, Myr Enforcer and Hangarback Walker. Then I just casted Scapeshift in turn four or five for 36 damage.
Game 2: He started the game with turn1 Memnite Pest Ornithopter into turn2 Memnite Pest and I died rather fast.
Game 3: Opponent mulliganed down to no lander five but was able to top deck three lands a row. I did have good starting hand of double Bolt double Nature's Claim, double land and an Anger. Played turn one Search and turn three Anger wrathing his board. After couple of ramp spells/lands I was able to drop Titan and he conceded.
SB: -4 Sakura Tribe Elder, +1 Anger of the Gods, +3 Nature's Claim
I think Sudden Shock is a bit too slow against Affinity and since I saw the Enforcer I didn't want to draw too many conditional cards. He was playing budget deck and I don't think he had Opals or Ravagers in his 60.
Round 2 Zoo 2-0
Game 1: I start with Search for Tomorrow and he plays turn one Nacatl. I play Khalni Expedition and Nacatl connects once. I play Sakura Elder and pponent played another Nacatl and a Pridemage and I chump one Nacatl with Elder. I got my sixth land and dropped a titan. Titan got pathed and then I just Scapeshifted for the 36+ damage.
Game 2: My opponent has no turn one play and I play just a Cinder Glade. He plays 1/2 Tarmogoy which I Bolt during my turn and play Khalni Expedition. He played 3/3 Knight and I Bolted it also during my turn and drop Sakura Elder. I got nuts by dropping next turn Khalni Expedition and craking it instantly with the help of another Expedition and nex turn played a Titan. Titan got pather and I wait a turn and then played Commune with Lava by X being 11 > GG.
SB: -1 Farseek, +1 Anger of the Gods
Round 3 Esper Control 2-0 good friend of mine
Game 1: I have the typical ramp into fast seven mana but he uses smart Esper Charm during my draw-step making me to discard my Scapeshift. I got lucky there a bit and top decked double Titan after that. First got Doom Bladed but second onegot me there and my opponent conceded.
Game 2: This was non-magic game since my opponent kept a strong two-lander starting hand but missed next two land drops. He was forced to take my Nature's Claim with his Duress (Leyline of Sanctity in his deck) and eventually he was forced to Negate my Crumble to Dust and I just Scapeshifted him out.
SB: -4 Sakura-Tribe Elder, -1 Farseeks, -1 Prismatic Omen (dunno why I sided this one out..), + 3 Crumble to Dust, +2 Nature's Claim
Round 4 UR Eldrazi 1-2
Game 1: I won the dice but can't beat Mimic, Endless One, Reality Smasher start.
Game 2: He mulliganed into a slower hand and I just ramped into eight and Scapeshifted for 36.
Game 3: Pretty much same as game 1 but I misplayed at the very of the game. During turn four I had four lands in play and my hand was Titan Scapeshift, Prismatic Omen and two Farseeks. I did cast both Farseeks and was planning to cast Titan next turn when I should have of course cast Prismatic Omen first because Omen with Titan is absolutely bonkers. Never played Omen before so didn't unerstand fully its power. My opponent played Thought-Knot Seer anyway in his next turn so my play didn't matter so much. My plan was play Titan and block Smasher but I was no matter what soft to any new threat that he plays.
Deck worked very well (a bit sad that my opponent had such a bad luck in some of the games) and I was happy by its performance. I could almost say that at the moment Flame Slash would be better in main deck than Lightning Bolt because option to shoot Bolt in to opponent's face is quite conditional and rarely needed since the end game damage is so insane with Titans. I also shot creatures down more during my turn than in opponent's and four damage is nice reach against Eldrazis.
I was preparing to see more Bogle, infect and Burn but I think there was none of them yesterday. I would also replace sideboard Jaddi Offshoots with Pulse of Murasas since it is also good against more controllis decks when they counter or destroy your titan and you just bring it back (and also getting six life at the same time). Offshoots are of course only againsts Burn and I personally think that three thougness life gaining creatures aren't too good vs Bolt effect decks.

I think a better compromise for Eldrazi would be Roast in the sideboard. Bolt's flexibility cannot be understated, for when you can only deal 18, or when handling problematic planeswalkers. Most of the time the additional point of damage to creatures is irrelevant, especially if your meta has Zoo and Burn.
I know the power of Bolt but it just might be too interactive card right now. My meta is mostly like Jund, Junk, Company, Elves, Tron, Infect and Eldrazi.

I'm with you man i feel like bolt is the worst card in my deck most of the time.
To add a few more results i played this friday and saturday at my LGS modern went 3-0-1 both nights for first place. 1 draw vs grixis control and 1 vs lantern control.

I've had so much success running fog in the sideboard that I'm honestly considering main boarding it in the lighting bolt slot. Our deck is so consistent, inevitable and hard to hate out (especially pre sideboard) that it almost seems like the only thing that can reliably beat us is infect, nut draw starts from other aggro decks and infinite life combos.
i'm thinking of doing something crazy....adding one sacred foundry to the mana base, and two dragonloard Dromoka in the SB.
what do you think? i will try it and see how well it plays. it's probably trash, but i love Dromoka to much to not try.
I've been playing against Infect quite a bit at my LGS, and the matchup is very VERY bad. I was running 3 anger and 2 sudden shocks in the sb but decided the 3rd anger wasn't so impressive. sudden shocks also come in vs affinity, and burn where I board out 3 scapeshifts (among other cards ofc.) because they just really suck in multiples in those matchups, and the plan becomes to play the attrition game.
I am still trying to build this deck. So many variations, but trying to find a reasonable and suitable one. My meta is sorta all over the place. Probably a good number of players play a variation of burn, there is some bogles, infect, jund, fish, tron, eldrazi is starting to pop up and some variations of delver. Not to many combo and you have some budget decks.

Fog can be a huge blowout against infect try it out. Tons of infect in my local meta so they have been great for me.
Finished at a very mediocre 4-3. Beat burn, jund, and 2 eldrazi decks (UW and RG). Lost to infect, burn, and blue moon.
First time playing against blue moon, and that matchup is tough. Only had 3 cards to break moon in my 75, and they have more than enough counters for both our answers and threats. Don't know how we should address decks like this (or even just blue-based control decks, in general) as I saw a couple of players playing the deck earlier.
On another note, finally playing against 2 burn players is also making me consider switching to jaddi offshoots (over the baloths i guess?).
Overall, still pretty happy with the deck. I'll try to write something a bit more detailed later when I get home.
If Blue Moon is really prevalent, then you could try using Krosan Grip, otherwise just avoid it. I feel the Burn matchup is 50-50 and Jaddi Offshoot really improves that matchup. Were there a lot of Infect in your meta?

I'm really keen on this whole "Fog in the board" plan. It's interesting, and I think that it can blow some decks out, and I like that idea.
