A thread came and went there not too long ago. I'm not sure if it got deleted, moved, or merged.
If you want this forum to be curated more actively, the best thing to do would be to write a new primer. Pick one of the decks that's currently pulling 5% or better that doesn't have its own primer - Dragonaut seems a fine choice - and make up a really good, detailed primer on it. Post that primer in the main Pauper forum, and then ask the mods to move it to the Established forum.
Alternately, we could try writing primers for other well-known decktypes, and try to get those pushed into Developing, but there's a real lack of input from the mods on what those subfora are for.
Also, we should probably have a "Deposed" or "Banned" section where the primer threads for good, dead decks can be archived for interest.

Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!
Is the developing section open to be posted in, or will I get my face eaten off if I try?
Yeah I'm not sure where the discussion was, but when it went up it was basically said that most things people would post there (like what people have recently) was to be posted in just the Pauper spot and that would be like for rogue/low tiers? I guess is the best way to describe it. Mods seem to rarely pass through here though so not sure it matters and it isn't clearly stated (or at least I can't remember where it was at one point) so.... yea no idea
I'm falling in love with Pauper, recently start playing, and I'd love to see it's wealth of information, decks, and tech having as much importance as the other formats.
I realize it has already been said, but pulling this out of the MTGO general, and making it its own subforum would be very good for the Pauper sub-forum. It even makes sense now that there is actual support for the format coming from Wizards. I don't think we'll be seeing a Pauper GP any time soon, but it is arguably more supportable than Legacy due to the Reserved List, and I one can wish!
Whoa, what'd I miss? How is Wizards supporting Pauper? Obviously they print new commons every set, but beyond that? Oh. This was from 2013... yeah, I don't remember any support.
I think moving Pauper to a subforum under 'The Game' would be great, especially because it would allow us to combine the 2 separate Pauper forums. You'd just need thread prefixes to differentiate the major differences (MTGO card pool vs eternal card pool) such as [MTGO] or [Paper]. Most people I know who play pauper do so in paper, and allow any common, (including those only released online) but it's pretty similar to the paper-only common card pool.
Since in my local store we are going to play Pauper Standard,
I would like to suggest to create sub-forums for every Pauper format, like:
Standard
Modern
Legacy
Vintage
Obviously, the limitations would be only about allowed Editions, plus the official
ban list.
I know that online there's only Pauper Classic, but sometimes PREs are runned too.
I think that it could be very fun and interesting.
With sub-forums, we could share and discuss lists and opinions.
I'm not sure if there's enough interest for sub-forums of every type, but you wouldn't need to specify Legacy or Vintage. At that point, it's just Pauper. (classic or otherwise) Until such a time that enough interest is generated, you could easily use thread prefixes such as [Standard Pauper] and [Modern Pauper] to allow them to be grouped with all the other decks and get some more views. No difference between MTGO and pauper for these sub categories either.
I'm getting back up to speed with the ongoings of the pauper sub and my first priority is anything putting up 3-0 on a regular basis should be in Established.
http://www.mtgo-stats.com/stats/Pauper is generally what I use, but he's narrowed his timeframe so the meta looks terribly undiverse compared to last week when more decks were present. (Eye candy was 19% of the meta last week, not on the list this week).
If there are decks in developing that need to move up, let me know so we can get them moved.
I need to know if there are any primers that have been abandoned. I had a request to write a primer this week. Not sure what happened to the thread if it ever got made. PM me if you want to write/re-write a primer for an existing deck.
As far as moving this to "the game" proper, I'm not sure there is enough tournament support to have paper pauper anywhere but casual. Not saying that couldn't change in the future, but it's hard to establish a meta w/out prizes.

I like the site but wish that some other archetypes were slightly more organized. I had a small pauper group (5 people) at my university in Texas and, while fun, is nothing more than casual when the LGS has a very healthy FNM.

I wasn't aware he had added a section like that. Nice. Wonder how far back he goes.
If we were using that site, what threshold do you think makes a deck "established?" 5%? 3%? 3% with the ability to 3-0 recently?

I'm asking this because I'm overcrowded with pauper material and I don't know which narrow cards I should keep.
That list is pretty exhaustive. He's got corner case cards and cards that only see play in some builds. It is a good list for "oh hey I've got $0.20 credit left on this bot lets see if they have anything on the list".
It really needs a breakdown of Tier 1 staples and Other fringe cards.

Breakdown to me meant, "Tier 1: Sees play as a 4x in one or more competitive decks. Tier 2: Sees play or sideboard play as 1-3x in one or more competitive decks. Tier 3: Has seen fringe play in the past, might not be playable again.

It's somewhat up to date, but it's really hard to get a read on the metagame with so few events firing (unless things have improved recently due to M15 being worth a little bit more).

It's missing esper familiar, I'd say, but that's because no one ever wrote a primer on that one. Maybe U/R control, but I think that deck has basically gone away.
Could we maybe get some action on the recent trickle of newbies necroing ancient threads to post insane wrong things?

If the established section really wants to be taken seriously, I am going to suggest some criteria for determining which decks are "established" as top-metagame decks. Obviously the format doesn't have the tournament support that standard, modern or legacy has, but it can reasonably be determined via %of the metagame, %of top 8's, and %of 1st places. I think this data is available on MTG goldfish? I'm not sure. I know the Modern subforum updates its established decklists every quarter. Pauper may not need to be as rigorous as that.
That's it on the nose. What currently lives in that forum is every deck that was top-ranked on Goldfish that actually had a primer written, as of DGM.
Maybe with the increased pauper support on MODO, we'll see enough traffic here to warrant some thread-gardening? Meanwhile, feel free to stick a primer in Developing, so it'll be ready to move when someone decides to move it.

I know this thread is old and I'm new to the playground (for Pauper anyway) but this has been my biggest frustration. When researching decks to play, the threads in Established vs Developing vs the main thread are inconsistent. I know that Pauper may not be as competitive as Modern, Standard, and Legacy but having some kind of consistency throughout the forums (at least in terms of how they are organized) would greatly benefit any forum user regardless of what they are in to and then make expanding into other formats much easier to understand. That's a beef with the entire forum in general, not just Pauper but its a good example.

I would almost vote to merge "Established" and "Developing" together into "Known" or "Deck-Specific Discussion" or something. I'm not sure the moderator attention required to keep up with the ever-shifting Pauper metagame is worth the low level of traffic the Pauper subforum gets.
(Also, please move my Wellspring thread into the Established forum. :))

I seriously think we should merge both Paper Pauper and Online Pauper subforums. A lot of people over there play with Online downgrades anyways, since that's what the ranked Paper tournaments usually do as well. We could use a [Paper] tag when creating a thread in order to specify the Paper legality of the deck or cards being discussed. This would merge both subforum's userbases and greatly improved the traffic at very little cost, because as I said, Paper tournaments usually go by Online rarities and banlist in order to not complicate things, so the meta is pretty much the same unless otherwise noted.
We could even add Pauper EDH and Pauper Cube subforums to the mix and do an overall Pauper section.
I think a Forum under "The Game" should be good enough. Subforums being "Established", "Developing", "Cube" and "EDH".
I think it could go under "Casual" subforum but honestly, the format itself is getting enough attention and growth that I could see it getting its own thread right along Modern, Standard, Commander, Legacy, etc. That is what I would prefer. Then you could break it down into Tier 1, Tier 2, Budget, Deck Creation just like Modern and Standard. It helps to keep the forums consistent so that people know how to navigate them.

The more I read Paper Pauper threads, the less I want to see them shuffled together with MTGO Pauper threads. It's basically a casual/competitive split, and while I respect the need for both to exist, I don't think the two groups have much common ground to discuss. Even less so given that Paper Pauper players tend to have some very indefinite ideas about which cards are legal...
