I've been running this deck on "Just for Fun" in MTGO, and I've been having a hell of a fun time with it.
I was wondering if anyone could assist me in making this faster/more competitive, and ideas for a sideboard?
The 3 drop Thallid Germinator is honestly a bit mana heavy for the strategy for one creature, since even if I summon it on turn 3, it take 3 more turns to spit out a Saproling. It does have the ability to sacrifice saps for a +1/+1 counter but I haven't found much use for that as going wide rather than getting 1 fat creature is usually the strategy.
I also have big issues with sweeper removal that does -1/-1 to all creatures on the field. Not sure if there is any way to combat that.
I think rancor would be good in the deck, and I may upgrade to having some of those, but honestly 2 rancor cards are more than the price of the entire rest of this deck, lol.
I have also seen some decent white cards that create saproling tokens as well, so I was wondering if splashing white would be a smart idea or just slow the deck down.
Any thoughts? Opinions? Feedback?
***This is not my deck - I do not take credit for the idea at all***
I think you could consider to go in two directions from there:
- You include deathspore thallid and go in a control direction. Then you might pick up some cards from this list:
- You go in direction of a agro list:
I think currently you are more on the agro plan. Do you need to stick to a 5$-budget?
Either way, I am planning on spending a few more dollars on the deck. Probably 15 max. I want to get some rancors and essence wardens for sure, Any other ideas? I don't want to go pure aggro but I do like the token aspect of the deck and going wide with the creatures. The instants are my favorite thing in the deck.
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm trying to buy the deck in regular cards once i figure out what exactly i want in MTGO, so yeah still experimenting.
Just as an update, I've added 4 Essence Warden[/card, ]4 Rancor, and 3 Spidersilk Armor to lessen the chances of a sweeper killing all the saprolings and some Druid's Deliverance to my sideboard (as well as tangle) for versing creature based decks. The deck performs much better with these.
*edit* actually yeah, the deck is significantly different than the one up on tappedout at this point, so I'm going to make a new list. I'll post a link to it here when I'm done.
I'm also trying to brew a Thallid deck, as I have loved these green guys ever since Fallen Empires. Would the deck be competitive, like, Tier 3 perhaps?
