Thanks for the primer, good reads here, one thing I disagree with is your thoughts on brainstorm.
More often than not I have more cantrips that let me shuffle/scry them away and I use it to hide combo pieces.
Which version would you say is the more reliable GS/ETW variant?
Honestly I don't know right now, because of Pieces of the Puzzle. Pieces Storm is amazing at finding the right cards but requires a slower setup, and I haven't gotten to play storm in a while so I don't have the long term testing to know for sure. I think the Bushwacker Izzet Storm variety was the most successful online before the ban because it gave your goblin tokens haste, so you won on turn and couldn't be blown out by sweepers.
My preference is actually grixis storm, because it has the best mana production. The color fixing can sometimes be problematic though.

I don't play the deck much, as I play MTGO now over paper pauper, but I think your deck has a major problem in that you are focused too heavily on speed over consistency. Other then infect no one is going to race you even in the slower lists, so shaving a turn off is pointless. The big focus should be on consistency and resistance to control decks, as they are your bane.

In case anyone sees this old thread, I've had much more success goldfishing a monoblue list. It can go off turn 3-4 very consistently, but at those speeds is not very resistant to disruption.

Having goldfished both lists, the Grixis builds described earlier in this thread seem consistently at least a turn behind monoblue.
2) Use the right number of each card.
3) Know your probabilities.
4) Print your deck lists; make yourself and your judges happier.
