Pro Tour Guilds of Ravnica is partly Standard. It will take place 11/9-11. Standard is awesome. Please, please, please keep being good and varied and evolving.
Day 1 and 2 coverage will begin at 9:00am ET (6:00am PT) with draft. Five rounds of Standard will start somewhere around 1:30PM ET. These streams will be repeated upon completion.
Day 3 coverage will begin with the top 8 playing Standard (best of 5 matches) at 9:00am ET (6:00am PT).
Video on demand of the stream will be available for each round.
The coverage was absolutely horrific to follow. How come the GP's have better game coverage than the Pro Tour? There were commercials breaks constantly and almost no focus on the actual games.
The GP's have timewalk between rounds so you can keep watching the games instead of having commercial break after commercial break followed by some hosts talking.
To me it feels like there's this inner circle with the hosts and it's all about them, and then there's the constant gushing over Louis Scott Vargas. So much so they even have his girlfriend or whatever, who isn't even in the tournament, come on and tell a story about how she got a plane ride to come see it!! Even after the other dude won in the finals they still couldn't stop talking about him. It was so blatant.
This was by far the worst coverage I've seen as someone who wants to watch the game. I honestly don't know how fans of the game liked this coverage. it was all talk and commercials and then a little bit of games.
I mean, how hard can it be to just switch the camera over to one of the feature match tables when the main table is between matches? They cut to commercials after every single match and not just after a round is over. Just cut the camera to a different table!
Sorry for being angry and ranting, but it was an immense waste of time and an utter drag to follow. I'm pretty sure I'm only going to watch the GP coverage from now on, because it's actually focused on the games while this was absolutely ridiculous.
