Overkill IMO, if you get a second, keep it in hand in case of removal. Playing more than is needed to kill them/stay alive is not a good thing for a deck with so little card draw. We rely on CA to get the job done, we can't be handing them opportunities for CA.
True, but I find that 90% of the time, my opponents scoop after one swing. I find that announcing my attack phase by putting the hammers either side and making a swirling motion with my arms helps.
Having 2 hammers out on Korlash, is evil. I like it! Imagine winning game 1 this way and 2nd game their morale has been shattered so they are more likely to make mistakes during the 2nd game.
Rite of Consumption is highly situational, only really useful against aggro imo as control can just counter it and you lose your creature regardless due to the sacrifice being a part of the cost.
Just remember the following when putting together MBC decks for regionals:
1. Korlash, Demigod, Bitterawesome and Dusk Urchins all want to be in there.
2. Leechridden Swamp and Desert should be run, Mutavault is also good and when using these run Urborg as well.
3. Design the deck to be anti aggro md, terror / nameless, sudden death, damnation, profane, tendrils
4. Run BtQ or Scarscale ritual, the former is better as tutoring is good and scarscale is a dead card with no creatures out.
5. Have anti control in your sideboard. This could be Thoughtseize, Stupor, Distress, Extirpate or Fulminator Mage.
6. Deathmark helps against G/W decks.
7. Dragon's Claw or Bottle Gnomes can help against RDW.
8. Sudden Spoiling helps against lark and against aggro by acting as a fog.
9. If you cant afford to get these cards play RDW (the burn version) instead.
Sudden Spoiling is more than just a fog, its another removal card if you use it right. I have never actually just fogged, i usually take out at least a couple creatures when I pop it. Spoiling actually has helped me more than Deathmark against GW mainly because the creatures you need a destroy effect for are pro black.
There are a lot of good cards availible to us at the moment, the problem is fitting them all in. Id love to run 2-3 sudden spoiling in my deck but I dont have space!
4 Thoughtseize + 2 Stupor (for hand disruption against control)
2-3 Extirpate
2-3 Pithing Needle
2-3 Deathmark/Sudden- Spoiling/Death or Terror etc.
just an example.
EDIT: Sudden Spoiling is good if you pair it up with Bitterblossom tokens (for blockers) and Deserts for example. Mutavaults too, but I don't run them personally.
My mana-base right now is 4 Desert, 2 Leechridden Swamp and 18 Swamp
Sb decisions have to generally be made on your own based on what you are weak against in testing. IMO anyway. You could look a page or two back to get a picture of what some people have in the SB.
@BtQ, I run 4 of them MD and I have never regretted it. It gives me crazy adaptability Game 1 and then helps ensure that I GET MY SB cards game 2 and 3.
em...just curious, what does this deck do against faeries? i am thinking about playing this at regionals but it seems like it would have a terrible matchup against faeries :S
also in my somewhat limited game with this deck, BtQ seems really clunky cause I have to spend all those time and mana fetching up a bullet, bur everyone is saying its awsome >_<, i don;t understand
VS Faeries, the best strategy is to trample over their puny critters with a huge Warhammered Korlash or whatever. Without Trample, things gets worse. + you board in some discard and extirpates to help the MU game 2 and 3.
Thats where Seize and Stupors come in, to take their Commands in hand. So that you can play your warhammered fattys more or less freely. + Extirpate on rune snags.
Welp, I went 3-0-1 yesterday evening, netting me 3rd place on tiebreaks, prizes only for 1st and 2nd. Oh well, it felt good to go undefeated. Here's the list I played:
This deck was totally out of the blue, I didn't realize anyone at my FNM still played it. First game was simple, he didn't really do anything. He never played a Haakon, though, so I didn't know what deck he was playing yet. I sideboard nothing. Second game he gets his engine running, and I die before seeing more than one Demigod. Last game he is mana screwed and I wipe him out with hammer, Bitterblossom and Korlash. I sided in my 3 Extirpates third game.
2nd match: Faeries
I hate playing against faeries. I can't really remember this match all that well. First game I lost, to the usual beats + counterspells. I side in everything except the deathmarks. Second game I mulliganned to 5, but he didn't draw much and I drew all 3 Sudden Deaths. We both drop Bitterblossom at about the same time. I'm a bit up on the life race, though, after some favorable attacks and blocks plus the one leechridden swamp I have in play. He loses life faster than me and I win the game. I side out the three Extirpates, since I realize they don't actually do much in this match. Third game he Pithing needles the Leechridden swamp and my Augur of Skulls. He mounts a strong offense with Bitterblossom and faeries, but we quickly go to current turn plus 5, and my Mutavault plus Warhammer keeps me alive until the turns end.
3rd round: u/r merfolk
This was an easy match. First game I hit him with a warhammered Demigod a couple of times, second I played a demigod off his Magus of the Moon (3 swamps and 2 Mutavaults), and then killed the magus. Both games he didn't play much, I killed all the relevant creatures he played, namely Reejery and Lord. He didn't draw very well, either.
4th round: Doran
This match wasn't nearly as bad as I was worried, although he never did drop a Doran. First game he started off very slowly with 2 taplands and then a Viper, which I killed. He played a Garruk and a Bitterblossom the next turn, and had 2 Treetop villages in play, although not enough mana to activate both in one turn without using Garruk. He drops a Chameleon Colossus and I Damnation. In the next few turns, I play Bitterblossom, Dusk Urchins and Warhammer, while he plays some mana elves, and pumps up his Garruk. Right before he sets up a lethal overrun, I kill Garruk with a trampling, big Urchins. My Bitterblossom tokens start hitting him with a Warhammer, and they chump a 6/7 Tarmogoyf for a couple of turns until he is dead. I side in the 3 deathmarks.
Second game I keep a hand with 2 damnations and a nameless inversion. I draw a deathmark and use it on his first turn birds. I don't remember the rest of the game all that well, but I know I use a damnation to kill a viper and a mana elf at one point to prevent him from drawing cards. He extirpates damnation here. He's clearly not happy with his hand the whole game, and I pretty much just kill everything he plays. At one point he drops a Bitterblossom, but he is at 12 life, I play a Demigod and swing, then I tendrils his one token and swing again and he dies.
Some observations: I hate Corrupt, I hardly ever drew it, luckily, but it never did anything at all. Dusk Urchins were awesome, they usually traded with something and drew a card for me, which is fine by me. I do think I will try out 2 Beseech the Queen in the Corrupt slots. I want a 25th land since I ditched the acceleration though, so with the BtQ in the deck, I think I can cut one Profane Command for that. I'm thinking about switching the Mutavaults for Deserts, it probably would have won me the faeries match and it really didn't do enough against anyone else. I'm planning on switching out nameless inversions for Terrors and the 4 Augurs in the board for Sudden Spoilings. I'm pretty sure I will ditch Extirpate entirely, it doesn't seem like it does enough.

I found that with Sudden Death in my deck, I could easily just wait until I had 2 extra mana to cast all my non-split second stuff, without needing Extirpates. Faeries isn't particularly fast, and sudden death kills the important stuff. If you never give them an opportunity to use the first Rune Snag, they will never get to the point where it's a hard counter, since none will be in their graveyard.
After those changes you say you are gonna do, you are playing close to what I'm testing at the moment. I don't think 2 or even 1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is needed in that kind of mana base. But it doesn't hurt usually either. Specially if you run BtQ which is awesome in this deck.
Also, I advice you NOT to ditch Extirpate once you start playing with tutor.
Last thing you need to consider is the a lot talked about card lately.. Sudden Spoiling.
Try it, and you won't be unhappy about it.
Kyros: I guess, both strategies are ok to use, whatever works or whatever you need to do at the moment. Personally, I prefer the discard plan, which is also not entirely bad against other (Control) MUs, as well as a good way to deal with cards before they hit play such as pro black critters and enchantments.

Thoughtseize is awesome, but I find that Stupor is too much mana and Augur gives them too much time to play around. I do like Augur better in general, though, since Stupor is so easy to Rune Snag. Every game that I've won against faeries, I haven't let them use a single Rune Snag, and a turn 2 play means that on the play you don't have to worry about it. By turn 3, however, they will almost never play a sorcery speed spell, so Stupor is suboptimal to me there. Of course the real turn 2 play you want is Bitterblossom. As for other control matchups, the only decks I'd really want discard for is counter-style control, which, again, I think the Augur is superior to Stupor. I think the split-second spells are more valuable against control decks than discard. Either one is probably fine though.
If they Rune Snag your Stupor, and you've already thoughtseized something before. That means you are more likely to land your important spells, BB, Korlash, Warhammer etc..

True. I might be too paranoid about letting them have a Rune Snag in the grave, but I played several games against Faeries in the past where I tried to bait rune snags with less important spells and in the end it always allowed them to snag something important later in the game.
