THE THIRD GREAT CUBE ROTISSERIE DRAFT
THE MAIN SHOW - POWERED
Intro stolen from Laxnal's posts.
You all should know the ins and outs of Rotisserie draft. If not, visit this glossary of pages I've compiled. Not a lot, but it should tell you what you need to know. And if you need help picking, I suggest this power rankings page, courtesy of Silent Edge.
Here's how it's going to work. We begin with Player 1, moving down the line to Player 8. Each person makes a choice, and when they post it, it is immediately the next player's turn. Then, Player 8 will draft a second time, going back up to Player 1, and then Player 1 to 8, etc etc. We do this until we finish drafting (35 cards each).
You will know that it's your turn to draft when you get a PM on your MTGS account. If all else fails, check the thread daily.
When it's your turn to draft, you should follow the following steps:
1 Grey out the text of the card you are drafting on "The Cube" sheet. This signals the card is taken to other drafters.
2 Type the card into the "Picks" sheet.
3 Then PM the next drafter in MTGS
4 Optional - Post some smack talk in the MTGS thread for this draft:
5 If a drafter is AWOL for 24 hours, the rest of the drafters can agree (in this here thread here) what their pick should be and make it for them.
For example,
If Player 1 takes Sol Ring, they change the font colour of "The Cube":K31 to light grey.
Then they enter 'Sol Ring' into "Picks":C2
Then they PM Player 2 that it is their turn to draft.
The drafters are:
Player 1 Fredo
Player 2 Star Slayer
Player 3 Rexx Raul
Player 4 Pringlesman
Player 5 magicmerl
Player 6 j2sun
Player 7 Hicham
Player 8 Mini Me
I have to give the cube a really good look. Never drafted with a powered cube before.
And it's great that we got an 8th drafter (as long as everyone else is ok with it). This should be the right number.
Well, you'll have an untainted perspective! And I agree that 8 is probably the optimum number of players.
@ MiniMe: well I didn't mean the 8th seat that literally. I propose to give our late-comer a random seat just like everybody else. Let me scoot over to random.org, BRB...
*zips off*
...and the random number is...
7
That means MiniMe gets to keep the wheel seat!
Let's kick this off! I can't update the google doc from where I am right now, but I don't want to keep you guys waiting. I'm sure some kind soul will be willing to do the administration for me this once - failing that, I'll do it when I get home.
My first pick is Sol Ring.
Not very original, but there you have it. The only other card I'd consider is Library of Alexandria, and I already have that one in the first Rotisserie, so I'll go with the ABSOLUTELY BONKERS mana acceleration instead.
I still can't access the google spreadsheet for this draft. Could you guys open it? I get a "does not have permission to access this spreadsheet" message when I follow the link that was posted to me. I've requested access and send magicmerl a pm about it. Didn't get a reply yet.
For this reason, I can't see the cube were drafting from, either. Is it the same cube from The First Great Cube Rotisserie Draft? Then I could at least post my pick here in this thread.
i was keeping quiet hoping that through some divine force I'd get the Library...
Too bad for you.
Really this is not how I figured the first four picks would go. I figured the first person would pick sol ring/LOA. the second person would take the other card. From that point the the third person would take Ancestral Recall leaving me to take either Black Lotus or Jitte.

Oh, you wanted a predictable draft? You should have said so at the beginning!
Seriously though, I never played with or against a Library before. So I couldn't figure out if it would be good in the kind of deck I want to draft. On the other hand, I would have taken Sol Ring if it would have been still available. Strangely, it was already taken...
p.s. Try the link again. Does it still lock you out?
Sadly, yes. I requested access again. Google proposes that I "contact the person who invited you to confirm that you have access" (which I am more or less doing right now ;)) or to "make sure you are signed in to the correct Google Account -- one of your accounts might have access, and another might not". Since I created my very first google account this morning to see the draft spreadsheet, I'm pretty sure it is not the latter. I don't want to gum up the thread with further technicalities though - we could use pm from now on.
One last thing though: Rexx Raul seems to be unable to see the spreadsheet, too. Not sure about the others.

I wonder how the deck quality will be improved by having only 7 drafters?

As long as not everyone has this approach, no problem!
Guys, if you don't mind, Hicham will take the 8th seat in the draft. He'll post shortly.
I feel compelled to repeat everything I hear

Kidding aside, I was under the impression that it was to be the same cube (perhaps now including the latest update - yay for Into the Roil!).
I was thinking about a Mox, but since you are putting it this way and in the light of the last draft with my own cube, my first pick will be...
Umezawa's Jitte!
