Yeah, I was being sarcastic to try and show that strictly better isn't a good metric in magic. This isn't because because the idea is a bad one, but because people are so opinionated about what "strictly" means that once it is added into an argument, the argument stops being about the cards and starts being about the word strictly.
As long as people understand what it means, strict comparisons are a very useful metric! For trivial cases like Cancel vs Counterspell the idea of strictly better isn't a big deal. But for more complex cases it can help you be concise and clear (the whole point of any jargon!); did you realize just looking at them that Comet Storm is strictly better than Rolling Thunder?
