Well wizards announced M2012 today. Not any new information but I felt it was best if we had the thread already made for it.
Looks like the walkers will be getting new art. Starting with chandra.
As disporportioned and "blue steele" as her face is. For some reason I like this art a lot. I want to replace my JvC one with one of the new art foiled ones.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
When will Wizards stop printing the same 5 Planeswalkers over and over again? I really hope that's Chandra Ablaze. I am very excited to hear we might be getting multicolor cards again (rumor). Too bad it's like 6 months until the set comes out
i don't really care for it. her face looks ridiculous.
i wonder if the titans will come back?
I suppose that they won't reprint the Titans, since they were meant to be the flagship creatures of M11. Wizards said that they try to make the core sets different every year, so it would make sense to give M12 different flagship cards, to help distinguish it from M11. For the same reason, they announced that scry will be replaced with another mechanic in M12.
probably not, though. i would love some new simple multicolor spells, but they will probably just print more huge multicolor finishers, which is not an area i feel like we need any help in.

"Gather your allies" was a motto put in the Arcana. People are drawing their own connections to "allied colors."
Going to point out that M11's tag line was something to the effect of "a set you can sink your teeth in". But the set really didn't have a Vampire theme.

It was my understanding that core sets never had multicoloured cards in them. Then again, that could be what's special for M12, like scry was special in M11, and new cards were special in M10.
Core sets never had legendary creatures until tenth edition either. Those are rules that can be broken.

we have NEW CARDS in core sets now. that is a lot more major than having multicolor. there are no rules for core set that i think are off limits.

IMO multicolor cards do not effectively teach new players about the color pie, and that's why they are avoided. Using two types of mana to pay for a spell? Simple. Knowing which part of Lightning Helix's effect is "red" and which is "white"? That's not as straightforward, and something you learn only by being exposed to tons of mono cards over and over. Instead we get a mythic cycle like Titans and the Lorwyn PWs which drive monocolored genericness down people's throats so they "get" the color pie.
Even expansions that mess around with multicolor, colorless, or shifted identities, derive all of their effect by comparison against the standard colorpie baseline, which must always be reestablished for newcomers, a job well suited to the core set. For example lightning helix isn't particularly exciting unless players see it as the unusual conjoining of two very opposed effects from very opposed colors. Or at least that's how Maro thinks when he describes Color Pie as the fundamental paradigm of Magic.

it's the complexity issue, but i agree it has become meaningless with the addition of walkers to the core set. i think it's time for multicolor.
Yeah, it will also be really exciting for newer players too I think, when they open a G/R card they will be super happy if they have a G/R deck, since if it's made right they will feel the card was made for them!
But of course if they open a U/W card, they will be dissapointed, since they won't even be able to play it

most players love multicolor. the average beginner cube runs too much multicolor because of it. so i think it would go over pretty positively. they can keep it simple and it won't cause any problems.

lol.
Maybe if they put a bit of gold in m12 it will help them fight the urge to make another gold set anytime soon.
But understanding that it will never happen, I would pick Momentary Blink over Absorb. WOTC want to please the crowds, and blink certainly has it's own adherents. People thinking that Vindicate will be picked over Mortify are a bit bonkers. The rest of the picks look reasonable, although Putrefy is the obvious choice for BG I think.

Agreed on Chandra. Don't like that picture.

Yes, that would be perfect. However, where is the multicolor rumor coming from? Did Wizards hint something or is it pure speculation?

I think its because multicolor isn't considered a "core" part of magic. Though I feel that this idea is falling out of favor.
Even if they did have multicolor cards I wouldn't expect more than one card for each ally per rarity level. (Multicolored titans, FTW)
