EDIT: Sorry to xfollowthereaperx, I couldn't remember where I read the "Get all 5 swords and Stoneforge into play." or who said it, but that was the spark for this idea.
So, for anyone who's played the next gen consoles (or WoW), you'll know that they have an Achievement based system ie. Gamer Score (XBox), Trophies (PS3) and Achievement points (WoW) which essentially catalogues things you've done in games/WoW. Why not apply this to Cubing? Honestly, I used to play WoW and when they added the Achievement system, it reinvigorated the game for me. It gave me goals and made doing the monotonous parts of the game alot more fun since I felt like I was working towards something. Now, obviously (at least for me) Cube hasn't gotten stale one bit. But think about all those times when you do something epic?

I think there should be a line of basic goals such as:
Draft a WU deck.
Draft a UB deck.
..
Draft a RW deck.
Draft a GU deck.
Draft an artifact deck.
Draft a ramp deck.
Draft a deck where the maximum casting cost is 3.
Draft a deck with maximum 3 creatures.
Draft a deck with atleast 1 of each basic land.
Draft a monocolored deck.
@ bondafong: I totally agree. A lot of the enjoyment comes from checking them off the list, and if every goal was absurdly difficult, the journey would be far less fun than the end goal. This may also cause people to leave "the comfort zone" that they tend to draft in and may open some eyes on how fun other archetypes are. Each goal should be specific though, as my interpretation of what an artifact deck is may differ from yours. Saying "Win a game with a deck that has 10 or more artifacts / or cards that reference artifacts" is much easier to gauge than "Win a game with an artifact deck". I'll update the OP with Achievements as they are suggested. Keep the suggestions coming guys!
- Win a game without playing any creature spells.
- Win a game while being at 1 life.
- Win a game without cards in your library.
- Win a game with 5 or more creatures under your opponent's control.
- Play 5 spells in a single turn.
- Draw 10 cards in a single turn.
- Deal 20 or more damage to your opponent in a single turn.
- Draft a deck with at least 20 creatures.
- Draft a deck without instant spells.
Use a Planeswalker's ultimate ability
Get 20 token creatures in play
Deck your opponent
Finish a Cube without losing a game
Cast a spell of each color on the same turn
Win a game during the opponent's turn
Inflict 10+ damage to yourself and still win
Get up to 40 life in a game
Play a deck with no basic lands in it
Have 10 non-token creatures of the type [FILL IN BLANK] in play at one time
Updated the OP with some of your guy's suggestions.
@ Eidolon: Yah, I've played EDH using those. It's pretty fun. I'm envisioning achievements as something that would focus more on the overall epic feeling of completing something instead of giving out points based on countering the fifth spell or w/e.
Hey man, we both know that the 5 sword deck and achievement system built off of it was my idea. Not cool.
Some others I've came up with include this silly play. 1/1 Figure of Destiny along with Mirror Entity, activate Mirror Entity for 1 then activate your 1/1 Figure for (R/W)(R/W)(R/W)(R/W)(R/W)(R/W).
1. Deck an opponent with Ancestral Recall
2. Deal 20 or more damage with a single creature.
3. Recur Vengevine 3 or more times
4. Double, Triple, Killtaculars?
5. Take at least 3 turns in a row.
6. Destroy 5 or more of your opponents lands
7. Float 20 or more mana in your mana pool
8. Use Yawgmoth's Will to cast 5 or more spells
9. Sundering Titan 5 of your opponents lands in a single turn.

When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Win the game without a single card going into your graveyard.
Control a legendary permanent, a creature, a land, an artifact, an enchantment, a planeswalker, and have an instant and sorcery on the stack! (No tribal because... there is only one Bitterblossom in most Cubes that fills that slot.)
Have an equipment attached to another equipment! (Only possible with a few cards, but still interesting!)
I might introduce a wall of achievement to my playgroup.
For example:
Quickest win: Ben (turn 3) Most consecutive game wins: James (7 wins) Most consecutive match wins: Jackson, Dave (3 wins) Most equipment attached to a creature: Ben (3 equips) Most damage dealt in a single turn: Jackson (31 damage) Most creatures in play: Ben, Dave (infinite)
etc.

Well, I was pondering how to make getting the achievements more than just checking off things. Enter "The Cube Achievement League" or CAL. The time frame is up to each CAL, but I'd say a good average would be anywhere from 3-6 months. The CAL would be playing for prizes (whether it be money / packs / singles) that could either be slowely added to the pot at the beginning of each cube, or as a massive thing at the beginning of each CAL. Then, we assign a number system to the each category [Basic, Advanced, Expert, Impossible] and have people get that many points for each achievement they complete. At the end of each CAL, the 1st/2nd/3rd would divvy up the prizes and start anew. Sound interesting?
EDIT: I'm going to do an update to the OP and try to reorganize it a bit and explain a little better what this is all about.
so, I may have an idea. Have 3 groups of achievements worth 1, 2, and 3 points each. When a player reaches a certain score they get a prize of some sort. Money would be ideal as it gives the most incentive to go for them but I dont want to be shelling out uber-bucks once people start getting there. Ideas?

Ever consider having deck construction achievements that manifest in in-game bonuses?
I think it might be interesting, something like this:
Domain: run atleast one card of every colour and atleast 6 multi-colour cards: At the beginning of the game, search your library for a land card and put it into play
Mono-Colour: run no cards outside of a single colour (hybrid cards would prevent this from being fulfilled, colourless artifacts would not): Draw an extra card on your first turn
Singleton: run no more than one of any basic land (ie. present a deck of only singletons, including land): at the beginning of the game, impulse
Those were what i could think of off the top of my head, but it likely would be very difficult to balance them.

do you mean with individual effects? because this would be pretty simple with mass LD.
Game specific:
Control five permanents you don't own.
Get two emblems!
Card specific:
Win with Ajani Goldmane's avatar token.
Forbid five times.
Use Daze, Force Spike, or Mana Tithe to counter an opponent's spell when they control at least ten lands.
For example:
Quickest win: Ben (turn 3)
Most consecutive game wins: James (7 wins)
Most consecutive match wins: Jackson, Dave (3 wins)
Most equipment attached to a creature: Ben (3 equips)
Most damage dealt in a single turn: Jackson (31 damage)
Most creatures in play: Ben, Dave (infinite)
etc.
