Tried out some cards in a draft yesterday. Item Finder and Junk Arm will be finding home in the Cube since they can be quite powerful. The Cube has changed over the past year to the point where these cards can now work in the Cube, but also be very powerful.
Drifblim is pretty good. Anything is better than slowking.
I don't know about that. The Neo Genesis Slowking is one of only two cards ever to be banned (at least at the point at which I had stopped playing). Of course, part of that was its devastating effect in multiples, which you obviously won't see in cube.
Slowking does not have great offensive power, but each one's Poke-power is really strong utility. It seems like he'd be great in a deck that mostly ran big basics, or ran another stage 1 line (like Espeon/Vaporeon), as powerful support.

All of that is very true, and honestly why Slowking is still in the Cube. The Cube has been going through some changes lately, with changing of lines (Blaziken in over Charizard) and the addition of some new/different trainers. As the Cube evolves I don't know if Slowking will always have a place, but the line still seems to be the best Psychic has to offer for a Stage 1 line.

Maybe a certain Psychic/Water type deserves a Who's that Pokemon? explaining just how awesome those Pokepowers can be.

Got to play this for the first time last night and it was a blast. Hoping to read my input and advice from you soon.
Glad to hear you were able to finally play it. I hope it was enjoyable. I look forward to reading/hearing any feedback and your experience with it.
I apologize for the lack of updates lately. I actually started working on the Slowking post this week, since it seemed an apt transition from the slow progress of late.
What are your thoughts on the new Boundaries crossed cards like Skyla?
I have looked into the newest set Boundaries Crossed and there are few cards that are planned to go in. Skyla might make it in since she is an interesting tutor, which I like, but it depends on what card would be cut for her. There is the new update for Computer Search and Gold Potion which both will definitely make it in. Ace Spec is an interesting mechanic that will be less awkward in the Cube than it is for constructed, but still creates interesting choices when drafting.
You have no idea how much I want to build one of these. The last time I played Pokemon Team Rocket was the newest set. I am so behind I wouldn't have any clue on how to update or edit such a list.
I would prefer to build a cube built for 2-4 player drafts (300ish cards) and that used the Charizard/Blastoise/Venusaur and other generation 1 families as the prime evolutionary lines. But it's unreasonable to ask someone to craft such a list for me. I looked at some cards but I had no unit of reference to be able to tell what was good and what was bad.

If I have learned anything from playing this cube, it's not about what cards or chains were good or bad in their time. It's about balance in your cube. Unlike Magic cubes, pokemon come in chains, which means you get all or none when selecting which chains to use.
If you're looking at the original starters (or for any chains really), you can balance them by comparing their stats. What are their best attacks, retreat costs, and HP? Compare these and aim for bars most cards can be around -for example, for a stage 2, 60 damage for 3 energy is good, 110 HP is decent, etc.
The biggest issue you may run into is options for all the gen 1 starters. New Charizards keep getting printed because it is very popular, but not so much his contemporaries. This also means those Charizards are very powerful comparatively because of the insane power creep Pokemon is going through. Once again, just excluding the most broken cards can bring balance.

Since I am planning on just printing all of these cards with MSE, I was considering going to look through all of the various starter pokemon and errata all of them to be one line. The problem I had was Electric, Fighting, and Psychic don't really have an analog throughout the generations which would lead to RGU being three most powerful colors.

I believe that's called cheating. I enjoy pokemon's limitation of staying within lines. Like Rosawater says, "limitations breed creativity."
He also says, "I'm in your Magic, ruining your game!"

If you plan on errata cards, then I don't see the problem. For lighting, just errata the best pikachu, mareep, shinx, tynamo, voltrob, etc. into one basic line. Do the rest for the other types. If you are errataing cards, I'm not sure you need the self restriction of only errata starter Pokemon.
I agree that errata cards feels like cheating. To me it is the equivalent to making Savannah Lions a red card because it works best in Modo Red.
1) Unlike magic, I don't care about the "sanctity of the game". I just want to play a casual draft format with the people who I use to play the video game with, and who likes card games now. These are people who say things like "Back in my day, we had 150 pokemon, and we were happy) If I have to "cheat" to make a stronger draft environment I'm ok with that.
2) I haven't even attempted to build such a cube yet, I don't even know if it is necessary for me to do this. The advantage to building it out of real cards only is I could in theory start purchasing these cards if they are cheap enough.
That being said I still haven't decided one way or another on this. I just don't want to pay to print out ~300 proxies and find out that I waisted my time.

I've used Travy's cube as a sort of template to build my own Pokemon cube. I based the evolution chains on what the most available Pokemon were at my LGS, which also has a large Pokemon TCG market. I'm ordering the rest on Troll and Toad tomorrow. It's going to be around 400 cards. I haven't played Pokemon TCG in ages, so I can't wait to see how the drafting and games go. I'll definitely post updates.
I don't have many energies, and I'm half tempted to use MTG basic lands
@PM: If you want to ignore lines and errata pokemon to work together, you will have a lot of cards to look through. If you limit yourself to only lines, that's still a lot of cards to weigh and consider. And, sadly, unlike Magic that has multiple win cons, pokemon suffers to find another way to win beyond prizes (milling is usually just so terribly underpowered).

I have seen it. While it does look interesting, I don't think it makes the cut over some of the other cards already in the Cube. Thanks though.

Here's a decent resource for all chains in all colors. Just scan for chains and then look at the cards in that chain: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Normal_(type)
