I just spent an additional $65 on my Cube on top of ~$250 more dollars I've spent in this past week and a half. The good news is that this should be the end of it... at least for a while. I have a pretty big collection and had a lot of the cards I needed before I started this project, but I still spent more than I originally intended. I'm feeling a little down.
And yet... because I have a themed, unpowered Cube and because I don't care for "pimping," I know the dollar value of my Cube is much less than some others floating around. And what better way to cheer me up than to learn how much less I spent than everyone else? (I kid.)
I plan on going through my Cube card-by-card and adding posting my results sometimes tomorrow, but I'm just curious. What is the dollar value of your Cube?
Include the method you used to determine your prices.
Make note if you just estimated the cost or if you were more meticulous.
(Also, feel free to not participate in this thread if you use your Cube a lot in public places. The last thing I want is for it to be stolen.)
My cube is worth waayyyy too much. I wish I hadn't got the pimping bug, because seriously, when it comes time to cut cards that you spent time and money tracking down the foil or Beta version for, it gets really hard. Who's going to want my foil Ink-Eyes, Zo-Zu, Vesuvan Shapeshifter or Caller of the Claw? That's just a sample of the foily rares just cluttering up my trade binder that no one will ever want.
Nowadays I'm not actively tracking down foils, but if one comes my way, I make damn sure it's a foil of a stone cold cube staple or else I can't be bothered.
Long story short I think at last estimate my cube was worth around $6,000 give or take.
I've thought about adding up the dollar amount for insurance's sake, but decided against it because I didn't want to take the time.
I will say that cubers who invested in pimping the right cards even a year ago are seeing value go up. That judge Maze of Ith I got for $40 is now >$100.
I've been painfully slowly selling my cube online. So far I've made around 900 dollars in sales, and if everything else sold at the prices I want to sell for, it would be around 2800 dollars total, using prices slightly below magiccards.info low end prices. SCG really inflates the price of your cube, and at least in my opinion, the price of your cube is the price you can actually sell it for, so I would guess that my cube is worth around 2600.
It's easy enough to find addresses online now, even on this website if you've been at all involved in trading, that I'd personally be very wary of advertising how much a collection is worth on a public forum. Just saying.

Good point, changed my original posting. I'm already known in my play group as Paranoid Android.

I don't want to come across as paranoid myself, but I've been burgled before, and trust me when I say it's no fun. So I try not to make it simpler where possible lol.
EDIT: Blimey Antknee, what basics are you running?! Guru?

Zendikar foil John Avon basics, which retail at about 10 each. I have 35 each, so 350x5 = $1750. Gross.

I just cursed out loud at my desk. You will now be referred to as Antknee Vanderbilt Rockefeller the fourth aka "The Commodore", robber baron of Georgia (?).
Like ~75 bucks. It's all proxied, but they're super nice. So I'm counting the sleeves, ink, paper, card backs, cardboard boxes and work that went into it.
When did you get yours Antknee? Right when they came out? I got my Chinese foil Zendikar lands (40*5) right when they came out, and it was a steal for what they go for now lol. One of the best investments I've made so far. You know, outside of the 600% increase of Full art Mutavault

P.S. Seriously, people know my collection is expensive, so it isn't exactly hidden knowledge.
