Dunno how much my cube is, but as mentioned by others, it is priceless because it's what keeps me interested in this game, and allows myself and friends to get together and play once every few months.
I will say this, if you do plan on finding out where I live and want to rob me, the shotgun I have costed me $200 (bought off a friend), and the shells (which I have plenty of), well I can get them in bulk pretty cheap :D.

I think this is pretty much the right sentiment as I haven't played regular MTG in a while due to my hatred of AVR limited (It's a core set with bad removal, Slivers, and an added luck factor from Miracle. Can it be any worse? I'd rather draft Homelands at this point.) and not having a constructed deck currently, but my Cube has allowed me to play weekly and enjoy the game regardless. That's pretty special.
However, that being said it's fun to wag our money-peens around too.
So complimentary buckshot with the cube
Now that's a bargain!
"Your tank is dps, your tank is dps, fifteen dollars a month is a bargain for this stress."
I get the appeal of proxies, but part of the fun for me and my playgroup is using the super-pimp cards. We simply wouldn't have as much fun with printed cards.
I am getting to that pt as well. Any advise for getting insurance?
Depending on how your policy is written and how much customization you can do with your distribution of protection, it may be able to be covered under your umbrella policy. Mine couldn't, so I had to take it out as a separate line-item policy in conjunction with my homeowner's policy. Talk to your insurance provider and see what they can do for you.

I think I have it under my house insurance, but I should get on pricing and photographing the whole thing. Then I can finally get some photos up here too!
Your homeowner's insurance will automatically cover up to a certain amount of the loss, but not all of it. Not unless you have it specifically covered. Most policies have a cap on how much money will be allocated to the owner after a catastrophic loss ($X for Electronics, $X for Furniture, $X for Clothing, $X for Collectables, etc) and if you don't go in and manually change how that money is allocated so that it accurately reflects what you have in your house, you'll never get a true replacement value. Particularly when it comes to collectibles/antiques. I'd go over the policy with a fine-toothed comb and make sure the total $$$ in the policy is accurately allocated to reflect your needs. I wasn't able to assign enough coverage value to the collectables to cover the cost of the cube without doing a line-item protection policy for it. Your situation may differ. Check with your provider to be 100% sure.

I'll have to type it up sometime, but since it's currently a 360 pauper cube, I'd say about $30. I don't believe any single card is worth more than $1, and plenty are $0.05 or so. Of course, the pro-matte sleeves bump it up $25 to ~$55 total. With the time I spent gathering the cards for it, that actually seems a little low... though I was trading for uncommons as well as cheap stuff for Type 4. I'll probably switch to peasant soon, which will at least triple the card values, I suspect.
Really looking forward to the change in power level and complexity - commons are very rarely efficiently-costed, it seems. One benefit I've noticed about having inexpensive cards is that it forces me to play for fun. There's zero pressure to make use of them for other reasons because they're such an insignificant monetary asset. If the game isn't bringing me joy, then there's nothing else to fall back on. I can't take pride in a prestigious collection to massage the lack of fun.
I don't know how you guys can stand playing with thousands of dollars worth of cardboard. I'd be so worried that someone would walk off with a card or two - I don't check every card after playing, so it'd be rather easy to do too. Even for peasant, I plan on proxying a few cards that'd be over a dollar or two. At that point, it's just cheaper for me to make my own cards. Custom art/foiling too, if I want it.
In any case, the pimping IS impressive. I bet many of the more valuable cards, and especially the older ones, have a lot of history behind them.
I don't know. I don't take my cube anywhere, so that was irrelevant to me.
Same. People, don't bring your cube to lgs. Play at home with friends, or find more private space to use. I live in a condo and we use the party room, but we also use my friends work too, since it has lots of large tables.
I take my cube everywhere, personally. It has become a running joke of people asking me 'Do you have your Cube?', with my standard reply of 'I ALWAYS have my Cube!'.
Same. I always have my Cube with me. Even when I go to Grand Prix. I apply a few measures of security to lower the risks, but a Cube is made to be played with, so I'll play the hell out of mine. And I always been a girl open to strangers, so everybody is welcome.
Not bringing my Cube with me because some card could be stolen feels like not wearing deep cleavage or not going to red zone districts because I might be raped. It's now how I want to live.

I can cube anywhere without any security measures and not feel even remotely worried.
That is a serious benefit. Every once in a while I consider doing this myself. I just love cubing with my cards, though. If I did it, I would probably do full alternate art.
I've got two cubes, and both are worth a significant amount of money. The classic cube is worth a lot less than the normal cube, because it doesn't have any foils. It does have revised duals and a bunch of Beta and FBB cards in it though.
I was thinking if I made a completely non-foil, Modern-framed cube, it wouldn't cost me all that much (particularly if I didn't use Tarmogoyf or Jace 2).
