Do you guys sleeve your cube? I just don't have 400-500 of the same color sleeve going on. And also, don't you need a crapload more sleeves of the same color, so that all players can put lands in and sleeve the rest of their deck. For a 720 card cube and the lands to go with it, that is like 1100 sleeves.
Right now, I just have them in many different colored sleeves. Yes this may cause cheating when you pass a pack and see that the person to your right took the red sleeved card.
Unless you don't mind the cheats, you need sleeves of all the same color. While I've been playing for long enough to have plenty of sleeves in the same color, if you're going to go to the effort of making a cube, the $50 to protect all of your cards and avoid cheating happening in a fun format is a necessary expenditure. Of course, you can greatly reduce the cost if you just use the same sleeves that you always play with at events. I try and use the same kind of sleeves for every competitive event (no, not ancient green Ultra Pro's, I just have several from when I bought them dirt cheap), so if you always use the same brand of sleeves at major events, hopefully you have some lying around to minimize your necessary purchases.
Also, you don't need anywhere near 400 sleeved basic lands. With the amount of nonbasics in the cube, players usually play no more than 10-12 basics. You can also temporarily unsleeve cards that weren't drafted or that players aren't using if you really need to.
I use this big square box, which looks a bit like a cube
I don't prepare them in advance. I put cards in teh middle ask the players to get 45 cards each, make the boosters, then pass 1 booster to the left, 1 to the right and 1 to the player in front of them. I've done enough effort to make it already ;).
Thanks for completing the cards, I now have a nice reference guide if I want to add more cards.
Yes I have sleeved it too. When you play magic, you usually buy sleeves. Then the next pack you buy, they're usually the same color. That's how I got over 600 black Dragonshields which I know use. I am going to buy those sleeves with a magic back though. I like them and their quality is very high.

I'm rambling now, but what are others doing with their cubes.
at first i only had enough sleeves to sleeve the cube, but not the land. so we were always having to desleeve what we didn't draft to put in our lands. it got rather annoying. the sleeves i had the most of were the old as the hills red ultra pro sleeves. and i got lucky and found a buddy that also had a ton of these sleeves. so i just traded him sleeve for sleeve. he gave me red and i gave him black and blue. i wasn't using them, and getting my land sleeved was more important anyway.
again, as soon as i get my cube back from my friend (probably not til this weekend ) i'll try and post at least a list, if not pics of it. i have the list on my computer, but it's not up to date. we've added some lorwyn stuff and some rares. (we started out w/ only uncommons and commons)
I should think about posting the list for my cube up (at work ATM, but maybe later). Mine's a bit different, because I'm kind of a noob to the game and only really have cards stretching back to Rav (I started in Kamigawa, but I sucked at that point). Also, I'm a limited player at heart, so I don't have the collections many players do. So the cube only stretches back to Rav, but Wing Shards and Roar of the Wurm have spent some time in there when they were FNM prizes. It's definitely a work in progress, but I have played it a couple times, and it makes for really fun games without being ridunculously overpowered. You can make a good cube with a much more limited card pool. I've actually been debating whether I should cut Rav at the moment and just keep the cube standard legal, but I'm not quite sure how I could fill the space ATM. I could push tribal harder, but I'm not so thrilled about that.

I did some cool cubing today. There were only 4 of us, so we Rochester drafted.
I ended up with a RG deck.
I had a game like this:
Mountain, Kird Ape
Forest, attack
Opponent Smothers Kird Ape, I play Scryb Ranger
Forest, Kodama's Reach, attack.
Mountain, Spectral Force.
Forest, Skullclamp, equip force, attack for 10.
My opponent conceded with 3 black lands in play and Damnation in hand.
One game he Voided 3 cards from my hand (Kodama's Reach, Eternal Witness, Troll Ascetic) and Zo-Zu away from play, and still won that game. I even won when my opponent played a turn 5 Damnation to kill tokens, Zo-Zu and Spectral Force and I won because he couldn't stop my Skullclamped Troll Ascetic.
Yes cube is alwyas fun.
My conclusions of tonight were : Garruk + Gruul Turf is nice. Mogg War Marshall + Skullclamp is extremely good.
Ravenous Baloth + Skullclamp always does the trick. Spectral Force + Scryb Ranger is still great.
I was wondering if more people could post their cubes. I'm really getting into trying to build a cube but obviously don't have the means to develop an overly-powerful one. This specifically targets a lot of the lands and artifacts I often see floating around cubes. I guess I'd just love to see all sorts of cube builds so I can get jumpstarted on how to build a cube that's fun for me, is powerful, but is also affordable.

Well, I personally think the Ravnica block bouncelands are some of the best lands in my cube, and I don't even have the original duals in mine, and I only have 4 of the Ravnica block duals, so the bouncelands are great. Also, you might want to look into the Invasion CIPT lands (Coastal Tower, Salt Marsh, etc.) and their Coldsnap snow counterparts (Boreal Shelf, Frost Marsh, etc.). The CIPT is a pretty steep drawback, but it usually won't hurt the slower control/midrange decks that can be drafted, and I have both cycles of those lands in my cube.

agreed. hallowed fountain is the only "dual" land i have in my cube. i should be able to post my list later on tonight. ((currently cubing it up )) it started out as all commons and uncommons that my friends and i had in our respective boxes. nothing fancy, but still a "best of the best" sort. of what we had anyway. there are definitely cards that we wanted, but didn't have, but i really don't think not having a moroii hurt our cube that bad. things that would be nice to have, but we don't, so eh... whatever.
anyway... if you're looking for a cheap and easy to build cube that's still just as much fun my list is the list you're looking for. we've added a few rares here and there, but they are easily replaceable. as i said, i'll post the list later tonight or maybe sometime in the morning. just depends on how long we draft tonight.
Well in ravnica you take bounce lands over duals if money is not an issue(ptq t8 etc)... However in a format where everything is cheaper and a CIPT land hurts more it might not be the case there, however I am sure they are still way better than a basic.
I bit the bullet and decided to make my cube, now goes the long arduous process of trading for the 100 cards im missing.
I didn't have full time to look through that 50. box, but I definitely will when I go back again. As for the foil basics, I got them as throw-ins in a trade. I think it'd be neat if I could make all of the basic lands in the cube stack foil. I don't know if they'll all go in the cube, I'm a little iffy on what I'd take out for some of the blue cards or if Divine Sacrament is good enough, but they'll definitely be some changes. I'll let you guys know what I swap after I do it.
Bouncelands are great in cube because, just like Ravnica, it's a card advantage format, so the bouncelands are great. Plus, they fix your mana.
Pastamaster, if you post a "rough draft" of your cube, I can definitely look and see what cheap, quality options are available. The past few sets have been great for power level, so it's possible to make a solid cube on the cheap. Also keep in mind that cube is all about variance; everyone's cube is different. Don't feel embarrassed to eschew the so-called staples for alternative options. Also, check your local stores. Most of them have boxes filled with random cards nobody will ever need again, but are perfect for cube. You can pick up nice cards for cube at a good price if you look.
Yeah we play almost every sunday and wednesday so as soon as we are done we re-randomize the whole thing, then make packs out of them for next time. Its time consuming but its worth it. It makes it feel like like real drafting.
When we play, we just grab random stacks from the cube, shuffle them, and it works fine. I was just curious, I hadn't heard of somebody making cube packs before.
The changes I made to my cube from that earlier picture, besides swapping versions of cards out for more vanity versions:
+ Cryptic Command, All Suns' Dawn, False Prophet, Palinchron, Cave-In, Rare-B-Gone, Divine Sacrament, Mirror Entity, Call of the Herd, Fiery Temper, Nath of the Glit-leaf, Knight of Valor, Thunderblade Charge, and Show and Tell
- Sarcatog, Consume Strength, Serum Visions, Arcanis the Omnipotent, Petals of Insight, Savage Beating, Erratic Explosion, Reckless Charge, Ghostly Prison, Battle Screech, Voice of All, Purge, Groundbreaker, and Time of Need
We did a cube draft last night, and it was awesome. I drafted a cross between an oldschool Psychatog deck and a new school Pickles deck. Here are some of the goodies that I picked.
Animate Dead
Brainstorm
Probe
Thirst for Knowledge
Intuition
Stroke of Genius
Careful Consideration
Mystical Teachings
Psychatog
Shadowmage Infiltrator
Bane of the Living
Venser, Shaper Savant
Meloku, the Clouded Mirror
Vesuvan Shapeshifter
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
Brine Elemental
Mana Leak
Memory Lapse
Condescend
The deck was awesome. Due to time, I split with the guy in the finals playing a GWR aggro deck. I've already started getting my own cube together. Thanks to Lesurgo for posting his cube, because its given me a lot of ideas.

i said i'd post my list, so here it is. i know my number are a little off, but that's because we made it initially w/ 30 per of only uncommons and commons. since then we've added rares and instead of taking out, we just threw the rares in. any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to post.
Here is my planned Cube. It is being made just from extra cards that I don't have in decks, plus my duals, fetches, and shocks. There are a number of cards that I've seen in many Cubes but that I don't have extras of (I'm looking at you, Armageddon), so they aren't on this list. I went with an equal proportion of colors, artifacts, lands, and multicolor cards. This might mean I have too many lands, but I'm sure more experienced Cube builders can tell me.

I was going to put these in spoiler text, but I couldn't figure out how, so if someone would enlighten me on that, I'd appreciate it.
Edit: Something really funky happened with my card tags (probably from my cut and paste job), so I removed them. When I figure out what went wrong, I'll re-tag this. Sorry!
Building a smaller, 300-card Cube, as I don't have 8-man groups to draft with. 4, if I'm lucky. >_>
I intend to make the breakdown 40 of each color, 40 artifacts, and 30 gold cards and lands each. That sound right?
I'll post my cheap, mostly-commons-'cause-my-money-is-invested-in-Worlds Cube later. No rares, really, it's mostly horizontal cycles of cards. >_> Yea, my Cube's gonna suck major.
Cool to find a cube thread. Since I first heard of the format I made a cube out of my limited collection and my playgroup has been playing it like crazy.
Probably about 4-5 times a week for 2 months.
I was wondering if anyone has played with the following and what were there opinions:
Incendiary Command
Nath
The Wish Cycle
City of Traitors
And the one card that I personally feel is a house but don't see in most of the other cubes is deadwood treefolk.
I personally <3 Incendiary Command, and have it in my cube. I think I just love the card because it's so underappreciated, but I've seen it played very effectively in my cube. The wishes I don't really like because it lets you leave a handful of cards in the sideboard that you might normally maindeck, and it also allows for cards that would never be maindecked to be played in game 1 (like color hosers or narrow/specific cards), which can be a bit too strong at times, so I don't really like them.
I like the red command, I have it in my cube. I'm really big on the creatures and spells that have multiple abilities. for the last 2 days I've been typing out my cube list in notepad getting it ready to post here. I have about 50-60 of each color with at least 2/3 of each color creatures and then the other 1/3 "other". I'm running 77 artifacts right now, but I want to up the count to 85 by adding in some good artifacts that I don't have yet like Mox Diamond and Chrome. There are a few commons that I'm missing like Moss Diamond and the G/W Talisman from Mirrodin.
I have five of each dual color card with at least 2-3 creatures for every dual color and the rest "Other", ("Other" meaning instants, sorcerys and enchantments) and then 38 non basic lands. I would like to up that count to 45, but I'm missing some key lands like City of Brass and Mishra's Factory.
Hopefully I'll have this cube list finished and posted when I get off work tonight.
In the MWS world, for many players, winning also makes you a noob.
The same applies to:
-Knowing the rules.
-Netdecking.
-Not netdecking.
-Using old versions of a card (yeah, it has hapenned to me: "Ugh... ugly pic noob")
-Knowing English.
-Using phases.
-Countering spells.
<@MarkRosewater> THis is a secret we've carefully guarded but for this chat I'm going to spill the beans.

I counted the cards and this is the number I have..
Lands - 31 W - 35 R - 34 G - 35 U - 36 B - 34
Art. - 34
Being that U has the most cards at 36, this is what I would suggest.
W - soltari visionary
R - searing spear askari & kaervek's torch
G - krakilin
B - fallen angel & death stroke
L - 5 of the CIPT lands from tempest
Art. powder keg & triskelavus
I have nothing for the multi-colored spells. That would be something we would have to work with.

the only ideas there i don't like are the askari and the visionary. i'm going to add soltari priest to white before we play again. i'd like to remove mogg flunkies from red as i don't really like it in there. i think any card that we have that is normally a 15th pick whether your playing that color or not should come out. that's why i took out phyrexian negator. it just wasn't as good in this format. i'd like to add moroii to it as well. that card is house.

The only bad thing is the only color they had enough of was like poopy, goldish, brown.
He also bought some reusable sealed clear plastic bags that we use for boosters. They work great but I cant remember what their called at the moment.

The deck was awesome. Due to time, I split with the guy in the finals playing a GWR aggro deck. I've already started getting my own cube together. Thanks to Lesurgo for posting his cube, because its given me a lot of ideas.

Sorry!

My Cube
CubeCobra: https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/5f5d0310ed602310515d4c32
Cube Tutor: http://cubetutor.com/viewcube/1963
I intend to make the breakdown 40 of each color, 40 artifacts, and 30 gold cards and lands each. That sound right?
I'll post my cheap, mostly-commons-'cause-my-money-is-invested-in-Worlds Cube later. No rares, really, it's mostly horizontal cycles of cards. >_> Yea, my Cube's gonna suck major.
[GTC] Gatecrash Patch for MWS (249/249)
Probably about 4-5 times a week for 2 months.
I was wondering if anyone has played with the following and what were there opinions:
Incendiary Command
Nath
The Wish Cycle
City of Traitors
And the one card that I personally feel is a house but don't see in most of the other cubes is deadwood treefolk.

The Vintage Metagame The Original
I have five of each dual color card with at least 2-3 creatures for every dual color and the rest "Other", ("Other" meaning instants, sorcerys and enchantments) and then 38 non basic lands. I would like to up that count to 45, but I'm missing some key lands like City of Brass and Mishra's Factory.
Hopefully I'll have this cube list finished and posted when I get off work tonight.
I counted the cards and this is the number I have..
Lands - 31
W - 35
R - 34
G - 35
U - 36
B - 34
Art.
