Typically you find non-specific cube talk in here, like 'I got this for my cube' or 'how has this archetype fared' or 'have you tried the new MODO cube' or etc.
For the conversation you are looking for, check the linked thread.
There's a thread for them in the new card discussion forum.
Right, but this is the cube discussion thread. I'm wondering what people think in regards to cubing them, not what they think about them in general.
I'm talking about cube-specific discussion. We have a subforum dedicated to discussing newly spoiled individual cards and their potential impact on the cube.
If you go back out to the main cube forum overview, it's a subforum of the cube card and archetype forum.
Edit: I also noticed that you removed him for Torrential Gearhulk and he never came back for your Amonkhet update. Was he just too mediocre for you to keep in?
So the 4 new commander decks coming this summer is going to be tribal themed. Looking back at cube other tribal blocks, this does not abode well for (non-tribal) cubes. Other than fetchlands / Sulfuric Vortex / Siege-Gang Commander, Onslaught block as a whole was kind of a bust (Legions is totally absent from my cube). Lorwyn as a 4 set block currently has 24 cards in my cube, but they're mainly value spells and not focused on tribal besides changeling and goat / faerie tokens. As skeptical as I am, I could be wrong and hopefully we'll get black zombbie Siege-Gang Commander or something, can't be that hard to beat Commander 2016 for cube....
Anyways, time for baseless speculation on what the 4 tribes will be. I'm going to assume they're focusing on race (goblins / elves / zombies) and not class (soldier / warrior / ally).
HIGH PROBABILITY (wotc wants $$$$ afterall)
- Zombies
- Elves
- Goblins
- Humans
SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE
- Merfolk
- Snakes
- Vampires
- Angels
- Dragons
- Demons
WOULDN'T HOLD MY BREATH
- Eldrazi
- Werewolves (only because DFCs cost more money to produce)
- Kithkin
- Slivers
- Aetherborn
- Dwarves
- Centaurs
- Minotaurs
hopefully we'll get black zombie Siege-Gang Commander or something
This is the kinda stuff I'm hoping for. We'll probably get a few randomly playable creatures that are good enough without tribal synergies playing big factor in their evaluation.
I don't think Elves will be one of the tribes because the mono-green Commander deck (from 2014? 2015?) was essentially elf tribal with Ezuri. It's certainly possible, but I think they will go for something different. I'm betting on slivers, zombies, and angels.
yeah but people love elves, and B/G elves has more cards they could add and design for. Elves are not only heavily supported in those colors but they maintain both casual and competitive appeal. I could see it not happening for the reasons you state, but it seems way more likely than not.
You definitely have a point, but I think they will avoid elves just because they already had so many of the good elf cards in the mono green deck. I'm pretty sure they will do slivers because there's never been a 5-color Commander deck and that would be a great opportunity to do that, along with reprint some of the legendary slivers.
I think it's a long shot, but I'm really hoping for snakes.
I would like a deck in those colors that could use Swarmyard somehow, as that's a cool card. (And surprisingly expensive, probably due to EDH.) A 'creatures' deck with multiple different creature-lords seems like a possibility in BG.
As an aside: Swarmyard is not cubeable, right? I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but I imagine it doesn't get there in most lists.

According to Cubetutor, 1477 cubes run Yavimaya Hollow and 239 cubes run Swarmyard. Not exactly high caliber cube staples.
I hope they make a squirrel commander deck! Best tribe ever!
If they make a sliver commander deck, I sure hope all the M14 slivers get new artwork that actually shows slivers.
Btw, I suspect the decks differ in the amount of colors that they use. If all decks were monocolor or two-colored, Wizards could have used the usual five decks. Going down to four indicates that the decks won't fit into such a cycle. We will probably get a mix of one-, two, and maybe even tree-color decks. Or do we get a colorless Eldrazi deck, after all? One of the reasons they made Wastes was to make it easy to construct colorless commander decks.
And even though the decks have a tribal theme, that is no reason that we won't get a few new cubable cards. Not every new card that they print has to have a tribal component. Among the new cards will surely be a few [instert creature type] that are just meant to fill a role without having a spelled-out tribal mechanic.
How good are Recruiter of the Guard or Sanctum Prelate in limited? I've got a Conspiracy Cube and I'm thinking of including those two, because of flavor, but I'm afraid of them not performing well. So has anyone experience with those two cards?
Recruiter of the Guard depends on the targets you've got available. For me, with stuff like both Thalias, Mulldrifter, True-Name Nemesis, Snapcaster Mage, Bob, Bloodghast, Braids, Kiki-Jiki, Rofellos, Kalonian Hydra, Hornet Queen, Geist of Saint Traft, Kitchen Finks, Edric, Walking Ballista, and Hangarback Walker . . . plenty of worthy and likely targets there. My favorite is get Braids with it and then have it be Braids' first food. But then I love Braids.
Sanctum Prelate is a little tougher to make work right. In Legacy, you can shut down nearly entire decks by naming 1. In cube, the curve is more varied. I have no desire to cube with it.

Draft my cube: Eric's 390 Unpowered
Two weeks ago after I got off work I counted my cube and found 6 cards to be missing. I work third shift, so I go to work right after I leave FNM, and this was morning after FNM. I quickly tried to recollect the night to determine all the times I wasn't directly facing my cube. We had not drafted my cube that FNM, and the only time I had it out was to ask a good friend of mine to see if he had promo versions of cards in the cube. I quickly crossed this friend off the suspect list because I had watched him the entire time he looked through it, and he was to close of a friend to really consider stealing my things. Only one other person had been through the cube that night looking for cards they might have promos of, and this other person is someone who I know by name, and who I regularly see at magic events throughout the week. I thought It highly unlikely for this person to have taken my cards, but I had turned my back on him with my cube for a very brief second to collect my FNM prize, and all the missing cards were modern staples. This person happens to be a modern player.
This person became my main thief suspect, but instead of contacting him and asking if he had my things I decided to wait and see if he would try to trade them in my meta, or play them. These cards were all modern staples, but were also high-ish-quality black-core proxies. I play these in my cube because I don't like putting $50 cards in the hands of some of my less experienced friends, but any slightly experienced magic player would easily discern these as fake even from a moderate distance.
The very next Tuesday I went to a modern tournament at a different card store that me and the suspect both play at often. As I walk into the store I see him and walk directly toward him. He had just started a trade, and as the person looking through his binder turned a page I immediately spotted one of my missing fakes. I pointed at it and said "pull that out". Then I proceeded through his binder and pulled out the other 5 missing cards. I said to the thief, "These are all proxies from my cube, they have a black core and are obviously discolored. They went missing Friday. How'd you get them?"
He very hastily replied, "Oh, I found those under a table last FNM. I didn't know they were yours, and didn't notice they were fake. I guess you can have them back."
The "found them under a table" alibi doesn't quite add up either. I have Hareruya sleeves on my cube, and I'm the only person between the two shops that own any. If he had found 6 missing modern staples under a table that day, he should have been able to connect the sleeves on the stack he found to my cube when he riffled through it. It would also be super unlikely for these 6 cards to all fall out at the same time.
How many of you guys have had cube cards stolen? How did you handle it? And did you get them back? I feel like I got lucky in that this thief was too stupid to spot fakes, and he was dumb enough to put stolen fakes in his trades.

Right, but this is the cube discussion thread. I'm wondering what people think in regards to cubing them, not what they think about them in general.
The cube forum generally has individual threads for different cards/cycles. For example, the cycle in discussion here can be found in this thread:
