I just bought a PS3. Now I'm thinking about games.
I was currently thinking about buying the following:
Red Dead Redemption (when it comes friday)
Greed Corp (downloadable game that's almost like a boardgame)
Heavy Rain (I can borrow this from a friend)
What other games should I buy?
I'm a few hours into Heavy Rain. It's a neat experience. The Ratchet & Clank games are good platformers. Burnout Paradise is fun too. Mostly though, I play Rock Band (2) on my system, but I've gotten really attached to playing the drums. (If you have an Xbox 360 though, I recommend getting it for that system instead. The development of the RBNetwork for additional music downloads was designed first for the 360, so there's more available)
I don't want to start a huge discussion on consoles vs PCs, but i always felt that the only two genres that are better suited for consoles than for PCs are Beat'em'Ups and Platformers.
If i'd own a Playstation, it would almost exclusively be for Tekken.
PlayStation is more suited for playing with your friends than a PC. That's why I bought it. When I invite to cube og boardgames it's will be good to have the option to switch to PlayStation, when we are too ☺☺☺☺ed to play anything that requires brainpower...
But I agree - I hate playing FPS on PlayStation. Or generally any games that are made for PC and ported to PS. Cargames/Cartgames are also more fun on PS than on PC imo.
Outside of Magic, I'm a big gaming geek. I enjoy compettion of any kind. Magic is basically the only CCG I play, but back in the day I also played Shadowfist. I tried a few others, but never got into any of them like Magic and 'fist.
As far as console gaming, I own a SNES, PS2, PS3 and Wii. I'm mostly into fighting games and RPGs. I actually got way into the fighting game scene for a while, mostly giving up Magic to focus on it. Eventually I came back to Magic as I always do, and that's basically because of the Cube format.
Oh, and of course I play the greatest group card game ever, The Great Dalmuti.
Ooohh, videogame discussion. I loves me some game discussion.
All the reviews I have seen for Red Dead were very, very positive. If you like open world games, you'll be sure to love it. My friend bought Heavy Rain and thought it was pretty good and it is certainly worth borrowing.
And this is my feelings on PC vs Console
Mouse>>>Analog stick
but
Analog stick>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WASD movement
Also, for PS3 you absolutely need to get Metal Gear Solid 4.
Agreed. That and God of War 3 are the only reasons I've seen so far to even get a PS3. Well, that and the blu ray player.
And I don't play PC games because of the controls. I could never get used to using the keyboard and mouse to control my movement. I'd much rather have a controller with buttons and an analog stick. This is also why I'd much rather have games like Call of Duty for 360 as opposed to the Wii.
I have a rather large 40K Orc army. But many of the miniatures are old ones, so I don't know if they are anything worth anymore. I bought the army back in '93 to '98.
Nah, I just like the game, and wanted to get back into it.
It is damn expensive though.
Now that my cube is "done", I can spend money on those hobbies I abandoned during it's construction/pimpage. And 40K is cool as hell.

They should be worth about 30-60% of box price. Less if they're painted poorly. More if they're pro painted. Some of the OOP figures are worth some money, and other OOP figures are worthless. The 40K secondary market is a weird one.
If you want to get the flavour of 40K without the expense, Dawn of War for the PC is not bad.
I can't believe that, with all this discussion of other games, nobody has mentioned poker. I only play friendly games of Texas Hold'em with relatively cheap (£5-10) buy-ins, but there are more wives and girlfriends who will play poker than Magic.

People meet at my LGS on tuesdays to play magic. But sadly Lost is also on tuesdays. But this sunay is the final episode. I'm going to get my cube on.
Hahaha. I was just about to ask if anyone watches LOST. Tuesday nights are the only nights I am strict about not doing anything on. While its going to be nice to have Tuesdays back, its really sad that the show is ending. Such a great show.
Man the first season was so good too. What the hell did they do to that show?
I watched the first season on DVD with my dad. Sat through the awfulness which was season 2, cringed in pain through season 3. And gave up at that point.

Wow, lots of hate for Heroes. While I agree that the first season was some of the best and most entertaining tv ever created, I wasn't all that disappointed by the past three seasons. The second season suffered a bit from the writer's strike, but I really enjoyed the Hiro in old Japan story line and thought Adam was on of the better characters to come from the show, even though it was short lived. Season three wasn't amazing, but I thought the stuff with Elle was really well done. Season four, I thought was a giant step up from the past two seasons and it was nice seeing a new villain in Samuel. I was sad to hear the show had been canceled. Perhaps, I'm just one of few.
I've also quite enjoyed FlashForward this season. I think it's been great. I didn't expect a second season and wasn't surprised by the show getting canceled, but I've really liked what they've done with it so far.
While I can agree with cancer guy's plot and Lloyd and Olivia's "romance", I really liked Aaron going to Afghanistan for his daughter. It's kind of a cheesy played out plot (single dad's daughter gets kidnapped, now he's got nothing to lose, so he breaks bad on her kidnappers), but I didn't mind those scenes. For the most part, I thought it's been a good show. I'm glad it didn't get picked up for a second season though. There's not much more they could have done with it, so the second season would most likely have just been a crappy repeat of the first season.
I also agree on V gaining some momentum toward the end of the season. At the beginning it was hard for me to even really care about any of those characters, but toward the end I started actually looking forward to the next episode. Although, I'm not sure how much farther they can go with the show. One more season might be enough. There's only so much story there to tell. And I really hope Erica's V loving son gets it. I don't like that kid at all. The g/f is totally hot though.

I would suggest skipping FFXIII if you are an RPG fan. I recently got it when I got my 360. It is basically a 50 hour movie. But not entertaining.

Disagree. Don't play it in anything less then 1080p though.
