My friend and I have been considering making a modern masters cube from our uncommon and commons. We did not want to use rares since many of them are great for trading.
However we have no idea how to go about making such a cube, we do not know how many cards, if we should have doubles (since its only from the single-pack type) or the ratio of cards
How should we go about making a modern masters cube? and does the size of the cube depend on the amount of players? If so we normally would have 4-8
Help us please
P.S. if you have a link to a guide of cube building that would be useful as well

People have done 3-4 copies of the commons, 1-3 uncommons. You probably want a total size of 45 x number of players, so looks like at least 180. I would figure out what commons and uncommons you want to include, then work backwards from your desired total number to figure out how many of each to include.
I would add some of the rares, as quite a few of them really help with some strategies, such as Verdeloth, Pyromancer's Swath, Auriok Salvagers etc. Many of them aren't even expensive.
I wouldn't even consider trying to make Grapeshot work unless I had a Pyromancer's Swath in my deck imo.

Very true I just don't want to put trade value into my cube like doubling season but we did pull some that don't have trade value like that dam green dragon that was a sad pull

Fair point. Very few of the money rares in MM are cards that enhance the main draft strategies. Other that I would try to get into the cube that I didn't mention are:
Arcbound Ravager (really makes the affinity archetype shine)
Scion of Oona
Glen Elendra Archmage
Earwig Squad
Countryside Crusher
Many of the other rares aren't even good in the draft, and shouldn't even be in the Modern Masters cube imo. Things like Life from the Loam, Dragonstorm, Blood Moon, Extirpate etc. are all pretty unplayable in that format.
I've been tinkering with the idea of making a Modern Masters cube, thus far I think the best way for me to go about it is to do it with 3 copies of each common, 2 copies of each uncommon, one rare and one mythic.
I'm kind of gambling on the idea that they'll release something like Modern Masters 2 down the road so that I'll be able to combine the two at a later date.
Though for the OP, definitely think about adding rares, the synergy that they'll add to the rest of your cube will be amazing and thankfully they're relatively inexpensive. It's the money stuff that'll cut into your wallet though.
We currently just took a box of MM and sleeved it up. That is a perfect 360, and it is very fun straight out of the box. We did take out Sword of Light and Shadow, Elspeh, Knight-Errant, Tarmogoyf, Dragonstorm, and Bridge from Below. The first two because they were too powerful for MM draft, the goyf so it could go in the regular cube, and the last two because they were do nothing cards. The rest of the rares I like having in.
Over the next few weeks we will open our second box and then cut back down to 360 from the contents of the two boxes. For example, we do not need 4+ Riftwing Cloudskates or Lightning Helixs, but a second Path or Finks would be great. We have no decided on how many of what, but clearly we will be cutting 360 cards, so quite the culling.
We don't want too much redundancy and want the whole cube drafted with 8, so it should be a lot of fun!
