I'm thinking that Monstrosity is the reworked version of Grandeur and will mostly only appear on legendary creatures. It seems specifically designed to help minimize the drawback of playing multiple copies of the same legend in constructed.
According to the current spoiler:
"Put X +1/+1 counters on Polukranos. Then, Polukranos deals damage equal to the number of counters put onto Polukranos this way among any number of target creatures. Those creatures deal damage to Polukranos equal to their power. Activate this ability only if there are no counters on Polukranos."
Assuming it's the correct wording, you basically get a one-sided Pyroclasm.
That wording can't be correct, it's not proper Magic wording. It has to be either:
"Put X +1/+1 counters on Polukranos. Then, Polukranos deals damage equal to the number of counters put onto Polukranos this way TOamong any number of target creatures. Those creatures deal damage to Polukranos equal to their power. Activate this ability only if there are no counters on Polukranos."
This is the one-sided Pyroclasm (with fighting back) or
"Put X +1/+1 counters on Polukranos. Then, Polukranos deals damage equal to the number of counters put onto Polukranos this way DIVIDED among any number of target creatures. Those creatures deal damage to Polukranos equal to their power. Activate this ability only if there are no counters on Polukranos."
The second one should probably have an X in there as well, and be "up to X target creatures", to play properly with Illusions.

Yes, I can see it isn't what's in the spoiler anymore. My last point also applies to the current one though. I don't see why it should be able to target any number of creatures. Don't you declare X first, then targets? If so the amount of targets should be able to be variable depending on X. Not really important of course, but I find it strange (maybe I misunderstood the rules).
...
I looked up the relevant rules in the comprehensive rules, and X is declared before targets, so it should be able to say up to X target creatures. Relevant rules below:
600. General
601. Casting Spells
[...]
601.2. To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect. Casting a spell follows the steps listed below, in order. If, at any point during the casting of a spell, a player is unable to comply with any of the steps listed below, the casting of the spell is illegal; the game returns to the moment before that spell started to be cast (see rule 717, "Handling Illegal Actions"). Announcements and payments can't be altered after they've been made.
[...]
601.2b If the spell is modal the player announces the mode choice (see rule 700.2). If the player wishes to splice any cards onto the spell (see rule 702.45), he or she reveals those cards in his or her hand. If the spell has alternative or additional costs that will be paid as it's being cast such as buyback, kicker, or convoke costs (see rules 117.8 and 117.9), the player announces his or her intentions to pay any or all of those costs (see rule 601.2e). A player can't apply two alternative methods of casting or two alternative costs to a single spell. If the spell has a variable cost that will be paid as it's being cast (such as an {X} in its mana cost; see rule 107.3), the player announces the value of that variable. If a cost that will be paid as the spell is being cast includes hybrid mana symbols, the player announces the nonhybrid equivalent cost he or she intends to pay. If a cost that will be paid as the spell is being cast includes Phyrexian mana symbols, the player announces whether he or she intends to pay 2 life or the corresponding colored mana cost for each of those symbols. Previously made choices (such as choosing to cast a spell with flashback from a graveyard or choosing to cast a creature with morph face down) may restrict the player's options when making these choices.
601.2c The player announces his or her choice of an appropriate player, object, or zone for each target the spell requires. A spell may require some targets only if an alternative or additional cost (such as a buyback or kicker cost), or a particular mode, was chosen for it; otherwise, the spell is cast as though it did not require those targets. If the spell has a variable number of targets, the player announces how many targets he or she will choose before he or she announces those targets. The same target can't be chosen multiple times for any one instance of the word "target" on the spell. However, if the spell uses the word "target" in multiple places, the same object, player, or zone can be chosen once for each instance of the word "target" (as long as it fits the targeting criteria). If any effects say that an object or player must be chosen as a target, the player chooses targets so that he or she obeys the maximum possible number of such effects without violating any rules or effects that say that an object or player can't be chosen as a target. The chosen players, objects, and/or zones each become a target of that spell. (Any abilities that trigger when those players, objects, and/or zones become the target of a spell trigger at this point; they'll wait to be put on the stack until the spell has finished being cast.)
Example: If a spell says "Tap two target creatures," then the same creature can't be chosen twice; the spell requires two different legal targets. A spell that says "Destroy target artifact and target land," however, can target the same artifact land twice because it uses the word "target" in multiple places.

I think this is an enchantment block, right? Would it be too much to hope for a few staple enchantment? Compare to other card type (other than tribal), enchantment doesn't have that much cubeable cards.
I don't remember any new cubeable enchantment over the past few years, either.

Theros would be an absolute failure of a block if we didn't see some Cubeable enchantments. In fact I'd assume that an enchantment subtheme should become viable in some Cubes by the end of the Block.
As for recent Cubeable enchantments, Detention Sphere seems to be a staple no?
Assemble the Legion says hello. My UWR control drafter has been loving that card.
That doesn't make my 360. And I'll add 3 more cards on top of my head before it too. I'm talking about cards with higher power level than that. Cubeable in smaller size cube.
I forgot about Detention Sphere. He's absolutely a great card.
Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to an opponent, you may draw a card.
2U{T}: Creatures your Opponents control must attack this turn if able.
So wizards is basically admitting that non-aura enchantments are a pointless card type if the only way they can make an enchantment block happen is to staple the type onto other card types.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

Yes. It's funny this appears on a colored artifact, something many people called foul on in the past. But that at least that feels like it has a point. Why isn't this card just an artifact? Why does it need to be an enchantment? Only to increase the count in the set, great.....
The other possibility is that we will no longer see "continuous" artifacts, if that is what they are still called. And we might no longer see enchantments with mana activation. But if a card is to have both it gets to be both permanent types. But that would be unexpected for them to have this level of intent.
But back on track for cubes I doubt any of these things will be anywhere near aggressively costed, but I will keep my mind open because stapling abilities together is often what makes a good cube card.
This whole enchantment artifact thing feels forced, stupid, and pointless to me. There better be some sick payoff or this set is going to be cringe-worthy

Multiplayer Cubes might want this as a sort of upgrade if they're playing Coastal Piracy but I can't see anyone else wanting it.
Anyone want to guess what the Theros block mechanic is? I think it's Grandeur (ie: Oriss, Samite Guardian)
