Hello all. It has been a long time since I have done a group cube draft. (3 years!) So I would like to begin another round of a group cube draft.
A few rules.
1. Made an easy to read, difinitive pick. No "I would take card A or B" Imgaine this is a draft and you have to make a pick. I wouldn't mind if you bolded your pick.
2. Try to make your own decision before looking at other people's post. You can change your mind after reading there picks. But try to formulate your own ideas.
3. Post reasoning behind your picks. I don't like when people just post "Mox Emerald". It takes quite a bit of time to do this, and its disheartening when people don't put effort into there posts. No 2 word posts.
4. Possibly explain why you picked one card over another card. This helps facilitate discussion. I know sometimes there really isn't a second pick available.
5. If you change your mind about what you are drafting later, go back and edit your first post.
Hm... I'm going to go with Purphoros, God of the Forge. There's no auto-pick card here like power or Jitte, so we have to look at what looks most interesting. We've mostly got utility, with Purphoros and Reveillark sticking out as the obvious bombs. I'm going to go with Purph over Lark because it seems a bit more flexible, being more cheaply costed.

Hmm, I don't think there are any definitive picks here, but we are given a few build around me cards in the form of Purphoros, God of the Forge and Reveillark, along with a strong enabler, Ophiomancer. As I like blink / recursion themes, I'm going to put my money on Reveillark as he has alot of synergy with a large portion of the cube and doesn't take a lot to get him going while also being even better when you're able to build around him. It's also easily splashable if we get different signals down the line.
Before I made the other packs I made my pick on this one. So this will be the one and only pick I get to make on the draft.
Ophiomancer
With experience with my cube I know how much I can abuse a creature coming into play every turn. With braids, smokestack, Stronghold assassin, Recuring nightmare, Goblin Bombardment, and the pox package this thing is the start of a deck that I don't mind forcing.

Purphoros, God of the Forge all day for me. There's so many ways the card can go. (well, just a few ways, but they are distinct, which is something I look for in a first pick.)
Torn between Purphoros and Reveillark. I was going to say Purphoros but a lot of the card I like to pair him with (Tempt with Vengeance, Xenagos, the Reveller, Garruk Relentless) aren't in this cube. I think I'm going with the less exciting but safer pick of Reveillark.
For me the pick went between the flexible, powerful Kitchen Finks, or the card screaming BUILD AROUND ME!! that is Purphoros.
Finally, I figured that P1P1, I'd rather have the higher ceiling of Purphoros, God of the Forge than the more all-round Finks, so that's going to be my pick.
Without any obvious bombs I want something that will go in any deck or direct the rest of my draft. Pitching Needle is the only thing in the first category, and that is pretty underwhelming. Reveillark and Ophiomancer are the other two interesting cards, but I think Purphoros has the potential to be better than Ophiomancer as Reveillark has less novelty value.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less." -Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
Reveillark looks like a safer pick. Low curve cube with few cards with a lot of red in their cost. Lark seems to be able to regrow a huge chunk of the available dudes.
My pick without looking at the posts would be sylvan caryatid. After reading posts, I have a lot more regard for ophiomancer. Caryatid leaves you open to other colors, and is a piece of ramp. Porphorous probably won't turn on as often, and Reviellark seems pretty high on the curve.
I looked at your cube and there is no power so I should have time to play a bunch of value creatures + Lark. This is the kind of card that tends to be best early if you build around and I'm happy to try it in this cube list.
The other cards I considered were Kitchen Finks (solid value and keeps me more open) and Rift Bolt (any time I am Red/X I want to prioritize these 1 mana for 3 damage spells).
After I wrote the above for my pick I read the comments. Purphoros is solid, but red 4 drops tend to get pretty crowded in my decks. I almost always wish for more cheap burn when I am building red. Ophiomancer I initially dismissed (I am not usually excited for him as a first pick) but after looking at the cube list again it looks like the Black section is tailor made for him. Seeing Smallpox, Braids, Carrion Feeder, Nether Traitor, etc. in the list I would seriously consider Ophiomancer for a first pick.
Sakura-Tribe Elder. It ramps, helps us play more than two colors, and provides a shuffle effect. I like it better than Sylvan Caryatid (which also ramps and fixes colors) because it can attack, carry a sword, and its ramp survives wrath effects. I wouldn't be sad if Caryatid wheeled, but I'm not picking it over STE. Get in here, snake buddy!
As with most of the users here, I'm torn between the god and the elemental. Really, I want to play them both in the same deck, but I don't see any possibility of wheeling one or the other.
I feel like the rest of this pack plays better with Reveillark. We've got a few targets to reanimate with him, and most of them generate some form of value (4/5) if they get reanimated. Beyond the five 'lark targets, we have two kill spells and Rift Bolt in the pack, all of which can help us live until we can start grinding the game out with our 4/3 savior.
So, the pick for me is Reveillark. I feel passing Purphoros and Ophiomancer and Kitchen Finks are all likely to cause us regrets, but we can't take all of these cards.
Ophiomancer. I'm very interested in seeing how a black sacrificial deck will work out, and this pack has some other nice black cards that are likely to wheel.
I am in the Purphoros camp. There are no real power cards, so a very good build around card like Purphoros is interesting; Finks might be the better, all around card, but the God has so much potential in the right deck.
I could see myself picking Baleful Strix out of this pack as I love the card and it is good in many archetypes, but let me cast another vote for Reveillark. The card is very good, we're passing a good signal regarding White cards (IMO), and we can try to wheel the Strix.
I honestly have no idea what to take out of this pack. There's several really good options, but nothing that I feel screams P1P1 here. I have no experience with Purphoros, so if this were my own cube and I had just included him that would probably be my pick for no other reason than to just get the chance to play him and see how he does. Beyond that, Reveillark could be a decent pick up to either go into WX aggro or maybe some sort of shenanigan deck. I like Standstill a lot too, but I don't think I'd take it this early because that's a deck that almost has to come together perfectly. Ophiomancer is another decent option for picks that I don't have experience with and would like to see in action. For me it comes down to the two new cards and IRL, I'd probably take Purphoros just because he's not in my own cube and I'm curious.
This is an odd pack, there's nothing I would be thrilled with taking p1p1 here. I could see picking revilark, ophiomancer, downfall, price, or badlands here. I actually don't like purphoros for the same reason I don't like strix - both are very strong but very restrictive in the decks they work well in. Purphoros is committing you to either a token theme or a very red heavy, permanent-based deck. I don't mind forcing an archetype p1p1, but I don't like to do it all the time. I would normally pick the dual land here and stay open, but am hesitant to pick the RB land while passing strong RB cards.
I actually love answers, and would also like to take hero's downfall here. It just answers so much, but I am worried about the signals from passing ophiomancer and ultimate price. For that reason, I would take Reveillark, as there are many cards stronger than finks (maybe it will even wheel! lol) and puts the people to our left in colors other than white with any luck. I think there's just too strong a chance our neighbor to the left goes into black as well if we take a black card.
I'd grab Reveillark first. Easily splashed and a nice ceiling.
Other than that I'd take the Badlands next. There's not a whole lot of WOW cards in the pack and fixing is always nice because you never know what you'll open next!
I have never passed on a Reveillark p1p1 in any cube I have played... but not this theoretical time.
Purphoros is powerful, presents a strong clock, and is difficult to remove. With the low curve in this cube and aggressive red creatures, I feel like its the best choice.
