This is a thread to submit some likely candidates for cube-worthy designs we might see from RNA using the new mechanics.

I definitely expect to see some kind of 1 drop riot creature from Gruul.

Riot (This creature enters the battlefield with your choice of a +1/+1 counter or haste.)
If Rioting Runt doesn't have a +1/+1 counter on it it has T: This creature deals 1 damage to target player.

Basically, a 2/2 for R that could optionally be a 1/1 with haste and something else that makes the other mode attractive sometimes. I chose the ping ability because it would also work well with Rakdos to have a Goblin Fireslinger that is active on turn 1.

For Azorious, I definitely expect one of these.

Addendum - If you cast this spell during your main phase. exile target nonland permanent instead.

Our newest Cast Out/ Ixalan's Binding/ Etc. variant but with a bonus if case on your turn.

Lastly I expect Simic to differentiate adapt from Monstrous by having a few low cost adapt guys.

If Simic doesn't have at least one card like this, I would be disappointed.

What are some reasonably printable designs using our new mechanics that you might expect to see fighting for a place in our cubes?

A 1-mana 1/1 creature with Riot would be good enough without any extra abilities at all. I'd be happy to see one of those in either red or green.

It would but I think without at least a little something to make the 1/1 haste option more attractive a player is almost always going to take the 2/2 if those are the choices. The best modal cards have two (or more) nearly equally attractive modes that can be useful in varying board states.

I know. But this is a speculation thread regarding "likely candidates". I don't anticipate getting a 1/1 Riot creature for 1 mana that also has an additional upside. They're not going to give mono red a Raging Goblin/Isamaru, Hound of Konda hybrid creature that ALSO has another upside. Just my $0.02.

I'm not going to put money on them doing so, but if they should print it I'll say I told you so anyway =P What are a few cards you thought of that might come to be and would fit into cube when you learned about these mechanics?

I'd love to see a really good Spectacle burn spell. Either

Spectacle R
~ deals 3 damage to any target.

or

Spectacle Char 2R
Instant
Spectacle 2R
~ deals 3 damage to any target. If ~ spectacle cost was paid, it deals 4 damage to any target instead.
