Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

Hmmm, another pack with no real standouts. Its a little tough for me to gauge which cards are higher picks in this cube because of the larger size, which makes decks less consistent overall than smaller cubes. Something like Juzam could be quite good, but it strikes me as something for a more aggressive black deck that wants to finish out the game quickly. I think its still right to take the fixing here and wait for a better signal. My pick is Adarkar Wastes.

I have a 720-card list but so far I can tell the lists are a bit different. Extrapolating from my cube, I would take Compulsive Research here; it is a mild signal that blue may be open, it is splashable, and if we're trying to draft a control/combo deck here, the card draw is important. Plus, we have two signets that help with fixing. But the Adarkar Wastes pick is fine here as well.
Edit: and you're absolutely right about waiting for the right signal, and I'm sure we're going to recognize it when we see it.
Hmm Compulsize Research was the other card i was looking at. Do you think it would be better to take that over the fixing?
I went and checked the cube list again. It has a lower amount of fixing than my list, but it has 6 "duals" in each allied color (I'm counting the Alara trilands here). This is the first dual land we see in the draft; I like to take fixing early as well, but I don't like to "waste" a pick in a dual that I don't end up playing.
If this were my list, I would pick Compulsive Research here, because I know that we would have a high probability of getting good fixing later.
The pick here is closer. I still feel like we should get the Compulsive Research as it also helps with fixing (by digging deeper in our library), is one of the few pure card draw spells in this cube, is a good card if we end in a Reanimator-type deck, and this cube has a Madness/Threshold subtheme, so we may want a discard outlet later as well. Plus, I have a gut feeling that we may want to be blue in this draft to play all those sweet archetypes we talked about last pick, and as I said, I believe getting it here with another blue card still in the pack is a mild signal. We're still waiting for a stronger signal, and it's close, but I think I would pick Compulsive Research here.
