Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

A decent control deck. Having never drafted this cube I am curious to see how it compares to the other decks. I like the curve of this deck, it has a ton of 1CC spells for a control deck, it has card draw, removal, counters and some finishers.
It has a very simplistic mana base. It made me hesitate to include Volrath Stronghold, Jack-in-a-Mox. I didn't see the duals we were hoping for. It might have some 'empty' draws, but a lot of decks can encounter that.
Game One: He got out two looters, I played Juzam. Then my Nezumi flipped and started dealing damage. He cast Kukusho but I managed to control the rest of the game with the counters (MVP award goes to Force of Will). At the end, I Demoniced for Morphling and he couldn't defend his already low life total. His threshold cards worked very well though. Juzam was acting like it was 1995.
Game Two: Very controllish starts on boths sides.I only had Islands, but with a hand with Counterspell, Mana Drain, Condescend and Venser that is not that bad. He managed my Mana Vaulted Morpling by Fact or Fictioning in a Foil. Then I stole his Dralnu with Control Magic and my blue power hand ruled supreme. At the end I almost lost steam but recycling counters with Dralnu proved to be too much.
Result 2-0
Old school power ruled the day: Counterspell, Mana Drain, Control Magic, Force of Will...
Second match against Team D, piloted by Volcanon, playing WG Aggressive Midrange
Game one: Got out an early Phyrexian Arena with a Talisman. Force of Will a Loxodon Hierarch away, then Thoughtseized his Jitte and Mana Drained his Sword. After this Tombstalker and Morphling hit faster then his army.
Game two: He got an early army out with small creatures. I played Damnation. Then he played a Blastoderm:gaping: . I had an Upheaval but this seemed a long and painfull road to get there. I drew an Innocent Blood, which took care of the Derm after it hit me once.
Next he got out an Eternal Dragon, after which I played Juzam. We each hit each other, but my Faerie Conclave sacrified itself for the grater good.
With both around 8-9 life, I finally played the Upheavel with two mana extra, he played Mana Tithe, so he slowed me down not being able to play my talisman. But afterward the Talisman, Tombstalker with was dredged for six, backed with a Juzam proved too much for him.
Result 2-0
This deck is just plain solid. Good counters, good removal and heavy hitters like Juzam, which keeps being an all star. Team D did not have a great draw though, but apart from their power cards( Sol Ring, Jitte, Sword) I think our deck is the favorite in this match up.
Final match, against Wildfire/LD deck from Team C, piloted by Tom Chaps
Game one: Very slow start. Opponent had too many lands, I had a very controlish hand. Removed and countered my way to the win, thanks to the classic crew: Mana Drain, Upheaval, Juzam Djinn and Morphling. But thedeck played so slow, that it ended up being a lot closer then it should have been. Drew like 5 cards with Whispers.
Game two: A nice game. He destroyed quite a bit of land and then I got hit with Triskelion while at three. Was still very exciting as by that time I had a decent board position.
Game three: Bumm: Mulligan to five. Stuck at three land with damnation in hand, getting run over
Two great matches, and one total bummer.
