Hey all, here's your first pick. You can discuss your pick in here, just make sure that you bold the card that you want to pick in your post. If there's a tie, I will defer to the captain if one has been elected or randomly between the tied options if you have declined to choose a captain.
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

Some great support cards if we already knew what we were doing. But P1P1 to me the choice is Winter Orb. Colorless so we're not deciding that yet. It does send us down a more aggro path. But I've played it in tempo or artifact control before too, but it probably is a dead card vs aggro.
The only other I'd strongly consider on my own is Deranged Hermit. He's great in a few different combo type decks; reanimate, blink, token and just generally good on its own.
It is just a game so I don't mind trying to force something else either.
Yeah, there is not a whole lot in this to bring us in any particular direction.
Winter Orb is a bit like Armageddon--best in aggro, but I'll play it in other decks with the hope of dropping it whenever I have an advantageous board state. I agree this should be our pick.
Bloodbraid Elf is obviously a great card, but RG aggro or midrange can be something of a trap, in my experience. Also, I try to avoid gold cards early on, if I can.
My second choice would be Plow Under, which is a personal favorite card. It is so backbreaking in any green midrange deck to set them back two turns. Deranged Hermit would be my third.
Agree that winter orb is a bomb in the aggro decks that keeps us color-neutral. Let's note if the hound wheels or not.
A lot of quality green in the pack as well...
As for using the orb in an artifact ramp deck, do we know if this cube is supportive of that archetype?
Yes, artifact mana is pretty well supported (Sol Ring, even!), but at 720 we can't count on seeing too much of it.
I asked Rascals to upload the cube to CubeTutor, and have been doing a bunch of practice drafts there to get a feel for the cube. It's quite different from most cubes--even more than I expected. No planeswalkers, some niche strategies like Madness, etc. Right now, I have to say I haven't been able to make a really strong aggro deck in any of my drafts. If I had to choose blindly, a control/midrange strategy looks like it would have the best chance of success in this cube.
This would actually lead itself towards Plow Under or Deranged Hermit as our pick, even though I'd take Winter Orb P1P1 in my cube.
For 720, I would agree that there isn't enough cheap R to support an RDW deck, but there are a ton of quality WW cards. Not very many 1 drops, however, which is why I'm interested in using Isamaru as a bellwether.
Also, if we get passed some artifact ramp, we should just go for it. There's a good chance we're wheeling that etched champion, which is a fine pick-up.

Yeah, I'd be happier shooting for an artifact deck than a WW deck--those really tend to stall out against most cube decks, in my experience. I hope we wheel one of the better green cards, but Etched Champion could work, too.
Please remember to bold your selections. Winter Orb was the only selection for your seat, so if you were considering other picks and might have wanted more time, remember that you can ask me for an extra couple hours. Regardless, make sure you bold what cards you want so that I've got an indicator of your preferences.

Nothing else is even remotely tempting.

You guys should give it a try: http://cubetutor.com/viewcube/7123
Let me know what you think...
EDIT: Just drafted this insane artifact deck: http://cubetutor.com/cubedeck/68132. The bots haven't been well-trained yet, sadly.

I did look at the list on cube tutor, but didn't do any drafts. I'll try to find time tonight and hopefully get a better feel for the cube as a whole.
