Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

ExpiredRascals you sir are a god-like hero.

As much as I'm not a fan of aggro in this cube, it looks like Jackal Pup is the pick. Without fixing, I'm not too thrilled about the Wardriver--it was surprisingly bad in my cube. On the other hand, we should be able to grab Daring Skyjek, and probably all those 1-drop white creatures we passed earlier. So, in this scenario, on the wheel:
P1: Isamaru
P2: Hero of Oxid Ridge, but that will be gone. If so, Gemstone Mine?
P3: Soltari Trooper
P4: Savannah Lions
P5: Beloved Chaplain or Ashmouth Hound?
In any case, we'd be pretty well on our way to a solid Boros Aggro deck. We'd really need something busted like Armageddon or Jitte or the like to be actually good, but it'd be a start.
And here's the big upside: if we don't see Isamaru p9, we audible into an Rx ramp/control deck, and we're out a couple of mid-pack1 picks. No one would take Isamaru and leave the soltari. And no one would pass Isamaru and take the soltari.
In general, I like that there are three solid boros cards still in the pack by p6.
Edit: notice the automaton and wonder? There is heavy madness support, and no one is biting. Not saying I want to jump in.
I agree Isamaru will be the tell on the wheel.
P2 I was hoping for Keldon Vandals, the fixing might be more important to take.
I could see someone passing Isamaru and taking the soltari just for the shadow to hit with a sword, but P3 has goblin trenches too.
Looking at the red and white two drops, I'm struck by how many of the white two drops are W[MANA]w[/MANA]. They're good cards, for the most part, including lots with protection abilities. But they won't be very good unless we play 12-14 white mana sources (according to Frank Karsten's math).
Lands like city of brass and gemstone mine help, but at some point in the next dozen picks or so we should decide if we're going to go plains-heavy or stay balanced. If we go balanced, let's avoid the W[MANA]w[/MANA] cards when we can. And let's avoid R[MANA]r[/MANA] two drops, period.
I agree. I also think we shouldn't be afraid to go for an artifact deck if P7 and P8 or even pack 2 send us that way. We're really only one Jackal Pup into Boros aggro...

But I think one drops are so scarce in this cube that jackal pup will be the hardest to replace.
