Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

ER is a masterful god who cannot be beaten in any endeavour.
Hunted Dragon is a big lava ax and will end up in any deck we build. I've never played it, but the stats look impressive. Haste+evasion will get the deck through the board stalls that usually break RDW.
Metalworker is the better card only if we go all in on artifacts. Does anyone know how many artifacts would be ideal to make it work?
Yeah, I'm not sure about deciding between Metalworker and Hunted Dragon. The dragon seems like a very risky card to me--I mean, Lava Axe isn't exactly a good cube card.
Metalworker is fantastic if we head towards and artifact deck, but this seems less likely than our Boros aggro deck. Let's look at what might wheel for the artifact deck (similar to what we did for the aggro deck yesterday):
P1: Etched Oracle
P2: Memory Jar or Gemstone Mine
P3: Masticore or Coldsteel Heart
P4: Blinkmoth Nexus? Crucible of Worlds?
P5: Fire Diamond
P6: Mindless Automaton??
P7: Metalworker, then hopefully Eternal Dragon?
Not bad, really, although we don't really have anything to do with the artifact mana we'd generate...
The BCS with metalworker is much higher than the hunted dragon. We should be able to pick up an aggro finisher later if we need. I have only played the dragon in a multiplayer cube and it is top notch there, I imagine not nearly so much for duels.
I think that pick 9 will be the tell where we should commit to either artifacts or aggro. Either the Oracle or Isamaru will hopefully wheel and send us hard down that path. For now I say we take the card with the higher upside in its respective deck, Metalworker.
Edit: Also, tomorrow is when I start my vacation, I may not have wifi to add any input on pick 9 so please use this info for me if you 2 can't come to a concensus. I'm returning Jan 27th so it might be limited input from me until then.
I definitely hear you. The metalworker has a huge upside, doing gross things with any of the masticore, high-end artifacts and the many fireballs in this cube (and there are ton of fireballs in this cube!).
I'm still going to vote for the hunted dragon, but this is a vote I'd be happy to lose. The haste is what sells it for me, along with the lower cost compared to other red high-end cards.
Have a good vacation! Tom-zero and I will hold down the fort.

I'm picking the card with the higher upside that is also less likely to wheel: Metalworker. Let's see what P9 brings!
