Yep. Much better than the colossus, in my opnion. Burning of Xinye. One of the most synergistic cards we could ask for in our colors, esp. with the gargadon.
FYI, I'm headed abroad for the next week, and am not sure how much I will be able to check in. Pick more mana rocks, now that we have a Wildfire/Artifact deck!
So, at this point I want our remaining picks to be focused on filling out our sideboard. There really aren't a lot of cards that we would want to "upgrade": most of our cards have a specific, unique effect that works together with the other unique effects we've put together. I could see grabbing a bolt to upgrade our blast, or a signet to upgrade our diamond. But we're basically there.
As I've mentioned, I'm interested in pulling in a critical mass of cheap red cards so that we can, when appropriate, massively change our deck to improve our g2 match up and make our opponent mis-sideboard. Cards like fireblast, keldon maurader, and burn would all be crucial wheels for this plan.
Also, sideboard cards that don't fit into this plan, like the indrik, are big hits as well. Dual lands are awesome just because. But I don't think we need to look for more artifacts, creature or spells for our maindeck without having a card in mind in our deck already that we want to take out.
Now that we got a wildfire, mana stones sound okay but do we want more than the 6 we have (counting metal worker)? With the deck now I'd maybe even cut moss diamond. The rest of the picks we should for sure make sure they make the deck and if not draft for sideboard. More land destruction is what I really want.
I haven't totally built the deck yet so would still consider most anything. Quick count I got 25 cards in, not exactly sure where I'd cut without laying out a bit more.
I guess I'm a bit sorry I voted for scroll rack 2 picks ago. I'd put the scroll in the deck now, but it'd be about the same rank as fire imp would. the imp is much better for the sideboard.
I think this pick means we gotta take a chance on Tolarian Academy. It could be brutal if we have it after wildfire or winter orb.
Oh, I'd certainly run another signet or talisman in this deck, now that we have Tolarian and Metalworker and Wildfire. Another LD spell would be great, and given the number of mana rocks in this cube, another artifact destruction spell is likely to be close to another LD, as well.
How is our curve looking? How many of the little red guys are we playing, pre-sideboard?
I don't think I'd play any of the <3 red guys preboard, except goblin welder. Something to improve the match up vs aggro would be decent, but in this cube I think there should be enough time to stabilize. The only other deck I think we are weak vs is U counter. If we don't see something on theme or a strict upgrade then we draft for sideboard. And siding to a red beats deck should help against both those decks.
I am always tempted to play fast small guys in a deck with Winter Orb, because it's frustrating to not be beating down when you have their mana messed up. But you're right, they're not for this deck, at least pre-sideboard.
Keldon Champion is borderline for me right now, I'd rather have something that fits better. I think he was in my 25 count but easily could be one that I'd cut.
