So I'm assembling my Cube and I'm using three gold cards from each color pairing. I'm pretty happy with most of them but I'm having trouble with BG. I have Putrefy and Grave-shell Scarab in the Cube. I'm not sure what the third one should be. The obvious choice is Pernicious Deed, but my Deeds all live in decks and I want them to stay there. I'm leaning towards Spiritmonger but I thought that Death Mutation might be interesting--there are a number of saproling-creating cards along with some good sac outlets. I'm wondering what you more experienced Cube builders think.
Spiritmonger. Unless the removal says cannot be regenerated, he is a beast (in more ways than one!); he is just superior to all of the other 5-drops listed there.
I will think about Nath though, but I'm not sure he is good enough.
I guess Crime/Punishment COULD be counted as a BG card, though it also counts as a B/W card.....But Punishment is like a mini-deed, and if you cant move deed from your deck into your cube, might as well get a deed effect in there somehow.

Spiritmonger is of course the best from the list you gave.
it's a 6/6 for only 5 mana. Drawbacks : none, in fact, he has THREE positive abilities.
(Writing this makes me realize why that card in my highlander as well)
- He gets bigger the more creatures he damages.
- He can regenerate for only 1 mana.
- He can change color to avoid protection and stuff like that for only 1 mana.
The guy's a powerhouse, and if you went to a GP last year, you should have him promo.

I'll pull the lone Spiritmonger from my Survival/Nightmare deck (where he is by far not the most impressive creature) and move him to the Cube. Thanks for all your input, folks.
Thanks!
